Theoretical Question: If the engine generates heat that partly seeps through to the trunk but now is blocked, will the heat dissipate through the vents &/or or will extra heat remain in the engine compartment longer than planned, possibly causing some unintended negative consequences? . Would love to hear back from any engineers / physicists on this.

I'm no engineer but this doesn't make any sense. The heat that would normally radiate into the trunk will be reflected and radiate out the top vents instead. We aren't talking about hundreds of degrees either.

For those worried about raising the engine temp by blocking the heat to the trunk, keep in mind that the engine is releasing heat from 6 sides, and you're only blocking part of one side. There's so much dissipation area around the engine, I would guess you couldn't tell the difference in engine temp with or without the heat shield.

Curious if you just increased the engine heat by blocking the heat escaping with that product? While it’s not optimal that the trunk is getting warm, it allowed engine heat to escape. With the heat shield you are trapping the heat next to the motor which will make the engine compartment to stay warmer which will make the engine be less efficient. Curious if you considered that?
@stevedolan5065
@stevedolan5065 3 жыл бұрын
That seems to be a simple, inexpensive fix. I bet someone will come up with a molded heat shield that would simply replace the factory part and could be even more efficient. In the meantime, that’s a good way to go 👍🏻

Do the entire bottom as well. Why? People with stock exhaust have that giant muffler box directly below the trunk, and a lot of that heat rises and comes into the trunk that way. Everyone focuses on the engine heat, but that exhaust heat might be as much or more of an impact on trunk temp.

Sorry bro dont know if its you or your Mfg. but product your pushing way over priced for the size of material, check Amazon same type of heat shield for a fraction of the price.

Probably not the same material, if I had to guess. This stuff isn't cheap from anywhere I found it.

Isn't this just Dynamat?

Nope. Dynamat is for noise and vibration issues it does nothing for heat.

Although a good start, that fix just doesn't appear to be the needed reduction.

Personally, I'm a fan of aluminum foil which has been proven to reduce thermal conductance as well as attenuating certain EM radiation. For example, the alien mind control waves. One can't be too careful! ;)

I'm not a student of thermodynamics. However, that heat TRAPPED has to go somewhere. I don't believe altering the flow of heat is a good thing. I'm sure the engineers would have insulated the back of that trunk carpet. NO NOT A FIX
@HorsePowerObsessed
@HorsePowerObsessed 3 жыл бұрын
So this isn't trapped heat, it's radiant heat. The rear hatch of the car is perfectly vented for this exactly situation. Instead of radiating into the trunk it can flow out the top, afterall, heat rises.
