Theoretical Question: If the engine generates heat that partly seeps through to the trunk but now is blocked, will the heat dissipate through the vents &/or or will extra heat remain in the engine compartment longer than planned, possibly causing some unintended negative consequences? . Would love to hear back from any engineers / physicists on this.

Great question !!

I'm no engineer but this doesn't make any sense. The heat that would normally radiate into the trunk will be reflected and radiate out the top vents instead. We aren't talking about hundreds of degrees either.

For those worried about raising the engine temp by blocking the heat to the trunk, keep in mind that the engine is releasing heat from 6 sides, and you're only blocking part of one side. There's so much dissipation area around the engine, I would guess you couldn't tell the difference in engine temp with or without the heat shield.

Curious if you just increased the engine heat by blocking the heat escaping with that product? While it’s not optimal that the trunk is getting warm, it allowed engine heat to escape. With the heat shield you are trapping the heat next to the motor which will make the engine compartment to stay warmer which will make the engine be less efficient. Curious if you considered that?
@stevedolan50653 жыл бұрын
That seems to be a simple, inexpensive fix. I bet someone will come up with a molded heat shield that would simply replace the factory part and could be even more efficient. In the meantime, that’s a good way to go 👍🏻
