When I was little, my grandparents planted a Fuyu persommion tree in our backyard. That tree grew so big and we had persimmons every season, every year. We had so many fruits each year that we would give them away in bags. Sadly, we had to move and obviously, we couldn't take the huge tree with us. To whoever lives in that house now better appreciate all the love and care my grandparents gave that tree and the fruits that tree bears.

My persimmon bear fruits for the first time thise year! And it dropped fruits when i did not water it for weeks. Out of the 40+ fruits, now 19. The fruits grew bigger though very fast! doubled the size...in a week after i water it for 1 hour long slow running hose. I will water the surrounding area today, as you recommend it for roots to search the water thus spread out.. Thank U!!

Great video, thanks! I grew up in the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles and we had an astringent persimmon tree in our tiny back yard which bore delicious fruit every single year. Now that I'm living in USDA Zone 7 in Arizona, I finally got ambitious and planted a Fuyu from a small container. I hope that I live long enough to eat the fruit and stand in it's shade!

All persimmons are self polinnate. Can you graft a coctail persimmons. Both fuyu and hachiya persimmons. What are soil mixture ? In another persimmon KZbin channel told us the opposite. It require high nitrogen. They die if too much water, need full sun & pest free. Your channel is very informative & Thank you for sharing.

Good video. Where about are you located? I completely agree about the over fertilizing of the persimmon, especially nitrogen. I learned that the hard way with fruit drop. However, I disagree with a few statements, but that might be a difference in rootstock. Which rootstock are you using? I'm here in Florida, and I've been grafting Persimmons for over a decade. I graft Fuyu onto Native/Common persimmon rootstock growing on my property. I either graft onto seedlings, or runners. The native persimmons here are very tolerant of water, and wet feet. They literally grow in swamps that are underwater all summer. I've never had an issue with root rot. I planted a lot of them in wet areas where any other fruit tree would get rot. Also, I've never had any pest issues on the Fuyu. I don't spray them or anything. Maybe I've gotten lucky. It's the only tree I haven't had pest issues with...

@@OgnjenMali I personally haven't grown Fuyu persimmons from seed, so I'm not 100% sure. I have heard however, that like many other fruits, they do not grow true to seed. So it's possible it may produce, but not likely to be identical to the parent tree. So they fruit may or may not be good. I hear they can take up to 8 or 10 years to produce if grown from seed...

I potted 3 asian persimmons due to lack of space and left them outside for maybe 5 winters. Now we have had fairly mild winters here in piedmont GA 7B 8A, but I suffered no loss. I think because the root stock is native, they are much more cold and wet tolerant than the asians.

This year it started to bear fruits for the very 1st time. However the persimmon fruits are very small, not too much bigger than a cherry and its seeds inside are relatively large in size. Should I assume this tree was not grafted properly when it was young? If yes, can I now graft some of its branches? Thank you!

My husband bought a Fuyu Persimmon a couple months ago. No foliage then, and still no foliage. I read or heard that they may not bud or lead out until June. Any advice or help would be appreciated! We are in lower Alabama.

Thanks! I appreciate the info. I was thinking of growing these but with all the "Bug" issues, I think I'll pass. :)

Im in Zone 9, northern CA, never had any bug issues on my two fuyu persimmon trees. They are 4 yrs old, 7-8 ft tall, pruned every fall to keep them in check. Very health, no bugs of any kind.

I have a FuYu that is finally giving me a good harvest this year after 6-7 years, however, the vast majority of the fruit are "infected" by something, the core of the fruit are black, terrible looking. I hear pests, disease are rare in persimmon and no other back yard persimmon growers that I know of have had this problem. You have any insight or advice you can give me? I would appreciate it so much. Im in zone 9, Northern California.
