There are a few errors in this video. I was able to update using AC power. In the video you connect power while holding the channel button and your PC clearly gave a connection alert. But in your description, you plugged in the power and then plugged in the PC. If you plug in the power without being plugged into a PC, it will not enter the boot loader. You have to be connected to the PC first. After extracting the files, the proper sequence is: 1. Start the loader. 2. Open the new FW file. 3. Connect a USB cable between the HOTA and the PC. 4. Press and hold the Channel button. 4. a. While holding the Channel button, plug in power AC or DC. 5. As soon as you hear the beeps on the HOTA and the Windows alert, click the update button.

TweetFPV! PLEASE READ! 1. HOTA and Hobbymate firmware are interchangeable, as the chargers are identical. HOTA only posts the newest firmware, but Hobbymate keeps the historical versions posted. You may not want the latest firmware, like right now. See point #2. 2. The most recent 1.0.40 firmware only adds the ability to exceed the max amps of a single channel by combining the two channels with a Y adapter. 99.99% of pilots would never use this. Unfortunately this firmware also reintroduced the bug of the internal fan running 24/7, which is extra noise and unnecessary wear and tear on the internal fan. For this reason I HIGHLY recommend only updating to 1.0.35, don't go to 1.0.40 unless you specifically want that feature! P.S. My other comment disapeared for some reason. Is calibration preserved during firmware update, or do you need to re-calibrate the charger after that?

I was at .4 when I bought it so I just "updated" the firmware to .35 and then concerned in the menu but the fan is still running for me. Anyone else experience this?

In 2019 I bought an Hota D6 Pro and when turned on it just showed "CH1 Self-check failed! (E108)", it was DOA. I updated the firmware, tried hard reboot, reported the problem to HOTA, sent emails several times for any news, and they only kept replying "sorry to hear that" and did nothing. It was sent back and since then I have a flawless ISDT. Good luck with Hota's customer support.

ISDT did the same thing to me with a Q6 charger. Don't pretend ISDT's support is any better. Trust me, they aren't.

You have to plug the usb, and then you can just power it. It doesn't go into update mode if you hold the button and plug power, then usb.

Thank you about this guide. Success on first try. Upgrade guide by manufacturer is misleading. It told to press CH button pressing on powering on the charger. Which obviously doesn't work. FYI: Upgraded my D6 Pro firmware from 1.0.40 to 1.0.47 . Got Sync Charge mode which I most likely will not use. Fan is running at idle now which is not good. Seems 1.0.35 firmware is the best for this charger so far. Would like to have ability to discharge LiPo battery with bad cells (like to discharge 3 good cells in 4S battery with 1 dead cell for safe disposal).

I found to have the fan off at idle I needed to power the unit off external DC and not use the internal ac to DC psu.

@@TweetFPV Thanks about idea, mate. Probably manufacturer thought that better be safe than sorry. They could install quieter fan though. So I will need to get external PSU, have also some other ideas where to utilize it. Which one you would recommend for like 6 x 6S 1300 mAh battery charging?

One of the complaints about this charger is that the ran runs all the time, even in standby mode when not charging. Has an update fixed this issue. I'll be ordering one shortly. Thanks

Unfortunately, I have not had any fw version stop the fan from running at a low speed when idle. Although I certainly would not let that keep you from purchasing one of these radios. They are about the best value charger out there.

I have this charger and its running FW 1.0.40, Only remark I have is that IR reading is all over the place, sometimes it's ok but most of the time it's not accurate at all.

The ir reading is only accurate when the pack is at full charge and at a constant temperature.

Hi, I have the same charger, D6 pro on channel 1, when I connect a lipo battery with the balance wire connected, after pressing "start task" (in charge mode, 1amp) After a few seconds it says "CH1 warning. Current operation is not supported" Its weird, it was working away fine before, Channel 2 is working fine, only issue channel 1, On the main display it shows the total voltage and individual voltages for each cell, so it can see the battery, Has anyone had this issue, SW is 1.0.23

Thanks for the video! Do you think the HOTA D6 Pro could charge 9.3A for parallel charging 6 1550mah lipo HV at the same time?

That's 235 watts. 4.2v/cell x 6 cells = 25.2v x 9.3A = 235 watts. The charger can only do 200w on the internal ac/DC converter. You can set it to 9.3A but it will just max out and only give what it can. If you want the full rated 325W/channel you'll need a 30v DC power source that can provide about 10a at that voltage. There are a lots of cheap 1000w server power supplies you can pick up off ebay that work great for this.

Well the s6 certainly has better specs I haven't used one but I have 2 of the d6 pros and thay are a rock solid option. Is the better specs woth the 50-60 dollar price increase? That's up to you to decide.

Are you sure your holding down the CH button when you plug in the power? It’s easy to slip off the button.

I had this issue. You must plug into your PC with USB first. Make sure it's a working cable that can transmit data.

Hobbymate does a better but still bad job documenting the changes in the firmwares. TLDR - most pilots only want 1.0.35. Read my other comment.

FWIW... I am pretty sure 1.0.35 includes notably the ability to use the charger as a DC power supply that was added in a previous release, and also included a safety fix when discharging batteries I think was then added in that version. Everyone should be on at least 1.0.35. As I mentioned in my other comment, most pilots probably don't want to be on 1.0.40.
