I like the racing decals on the windows. How we ran em back in the 80's. Bragging rights for what speed parts we had on the cars. Usually got two decals with each part. That green survivor Camaro would look great with 15x10 deep dish wheels and 295 50 tires filling out the flares.

I was 10 yrs old in 1970, just old enough to begin to appreciate what a muscle car was down in SE Texas. I knew what a 'Goat" was, and a Z28, 442, Vette, etc. These rarities are like the tip of the iceberg. Great vid.

Those 70s Fbody Baldwin cars are great. The striping adds even more to it. Might be tacky for some, but I dig it.

Most people don't realize how significant that Fred Gibb Nova is . Those were ordered by Gibb as L78 396/375 , turbo 400 cars for use in SS/DA class . Until those cars were built you couldn't get an automatic transmission behind a solid lifter Chevrolet engine . These cars proved that the trans would hold up to the abuse and in '69 they became available as regular production items . Dickie Harrel further modified some of the cars that Gibb had ordered by swapping out the L78 engines for L72 , 427/425s . There was a road test , I believe in Pop Rod Magazine , pitting a stock '68 L78 Nova against a Harrel modified version and one of his converted L72 Novas .

Of all the cars there, the Phase III Baldwin Motion would be my choice, I’ve owned 2 Yenko Camaro cars, one brand new in 1969, the other a few years ago, but the Motion cars far surpassed them easily. They were true street beasts back in the day, during a time when the factories were producing some truly serious street performance cars. No computers, no traction control cars, just raw horsepower, and torque, with driver skills required. 👍

I remember the PHASE III BM Camaro in a magazine at the time that ran 4.88 gears and had a Hone overdrive that would reduce the gearing to 3.42 to be able to drive at some highway speeds....what a set up with the 454 under the hood

i swear i will never understand these outrageous prices for any old car pre 84 as a old school car guy born in 65 who has owned every thing from k5 4x4 to muscle cars growing up a car guy could buy one ( good running ) for around 2000k to 4500k now the same cars nearly 40 years later cost 40k to 300k even a piece of crap 1984 4 door ford ltd no one wanted back in the day will cost 8500 a rusted out chassis will cost 8k why ? and a bank with good interest rates will not even think about a loan for one so the average gear head is out of luck why ? so mister money bags think they look cool SITTING IN THEIR COLLECTION and then there is people with classics just sitting outside or in a old building not touched in 30 years it makes me sick

I think it's a shame the early formula firebirds '67,'68,'69 even the '70 didn't get some of this treatment. I think they look better then the Camaro, but that's just my opinion

COPO stands for Central Office Production Order, which basically meant that it wasn't a regular production car. In the case of 1969 Camaros, COPO cars were available with the 427 instead of the 396. The limited production run makes them highly valuable.

In 1969 most COPO Camaros were ordered with the L72 427. There were somewhere around 1000 of these cars produced. Only 69 were ordered with the ZL1 all aluminum 427. Both are ultra rare and therefore ultra valuable.
