House Building Part 19: Installing Drywall & Crafting Corian Window Sill

We are doing something similar living in our RV and building our home. I build the shop shell and we have the RV in there and the house in inclosed now with a wood stove for heat . We are in northern Canada. Thanks for taking the time to share your struggles.

Good to see you guys again. Congrats on the 2nd place in the basketball tournament. The drywall is coming along quite nicely. Your husband sure seems to know his way around a drywall knife. Getting closer and closer. You'll be moving in before you know it. For the light fixture, look up antiquing metal with paint on KZbin, there has to be something out there. Looks like that if you can figure out the order of application, it might work to use a sponging technique to paint it.

To get close to a matching tone on your light. Use black liquid shoe polish like you would a stain. Just a small amount at a time till you get where you need to be.

As far as the lightbars go I think I would paint the other fixtures in stead unless I could not find the color I was looking for and then I might paint both the same color. The reason is the lightbars would more difficult .

I would just paint the track lights black. Matches the stove, who cares if it doesn't match the sconces? Easy peasy.

If your going with tile at the tube, should'nt you go with Hardie board instead of drywall.

In China, the house has a deep foundation, the entire house is made of bricks. Feel your house is not very strong. . Perhaps the national conditions are different.

Our foundation is a monolithic concrete slab, and our walls leading to the roof is insulated concrete forms. The way we built cost more, but will have a very high earthquake rating. In Alaska our foundation codes are strict, mostly due to frost protection.
