That toilet in the unfinished basement is called a "Pittsburgh Potty." They are in a lot of older houses in western Pennsylvania. When steel workers or coal miners would come home, they would go straight to the basement to shower, and change clothes before going upstairs to have dinner, and be with family for the rest of the night. Then they wouldn't have to track coal, and chemical residues throughout their houses, and expose the family to all that. My mother grew up in Carnegie, PA. So, I have seen these in a lot of older houses up there.

The toilet in the basement is a throwback from when men would come home from work very dirty. They came in through the basement and cleaned up/changed clothes before coming up into the house. It might be sometimes called a Pittsburgh toilet.

Beautiful! Only thing more I would have done is spray painted the entire unfinished part of the basement, HVAC/ furnace, toilet room all one color gray or white. Ceiling and all. Would add to the look and value without having to truly refinish the whole basement.

The house is very nice!👍🏾 However I think you should've made the living room a lil larger with the kitchen opening up to it...since you already had a dining room. Also the main bath should always include a bathtub... I know you all were probably trying to save money... But I don't think it would've been too much looking at the neighborhood. The house turned out great! I would have had them boxed in the fireplace and place candles in it. I think the spindles need to be tightened, and caulking around the quarter round molding (most buyers look at those small details). And absolutely no ti to the toliet in the basement, if anything mention it is plumbed out for an additional bathroom. Lastly, I wanted to ask have you both every flipped a house that you wanted to purchase to that you can move to?

This is a beautiful home. I'm thinking it won't look so beautiful dressed up during the holidays. As for the extra toilet downstairs 🤣, I would maybe add a sink . You might have to cut a wall if that's possible. Maybe expand it to make a bigger basement. Would make a good mancave.

Hey Jon, I used to own a house with a 'fake' corner fireplace as well. Mounted above it was a mirror and I used the mantle to display my Christmas decorations. The base opening was nicely tiled and I put a decorative planter there instead of just leaving it empty.

Very nice, but this house wasn’t that bad to start with, but it’s definitely older than it looks. Love the porch looks very nice, it helps to tie the house into the rest of the neighbourhood. Idea when you have a fake fireplace like that put an electric fireplace in very cheap and looks nice.

The porch, floors, amd deck look great. Not a fan of the corner fireplace. Also the lighting fixtures…some are farmhouse and some are more modern. Should be more consistent and avoid farmhouse. No to the basement bathroom.
