-Didn't know Matt Smith was a Dr, Who. I just know him from Crown as Prince Philip. -Villain to his [and Raenera's] enemies for sure! "Because he's the villain Westeros deserves, but not the one it needs right now". IDK maybe that works, maybe not. Gave it a shot.

He is such a complicated character. He can be loyal to a fault (remember Vaemond???). He loves and protects his family, but he also has selfish ambitions, he wants to be King.

He's a really complicated character. I think his intentions are mostly good (some selfish) but his execution of his ideas aren't always the greatest lol - Jess

I think Daemon has good intentions, he just makes bad decisions. I think Aemond is going to eventually join team Black!!😄🖤🖤🖤

I agree, I think his intentions are good, his loyalty is strong, but his execution in his ideas aren't always great. If Aemond switches to team black so will I hahahaha. Do you think Team black would accept him after the accident with Luke? - Jess

@@MattandJessTV I think they would accept him because it was an accident after all. Everyone wants Aemon off the throne. Aemond would make a good ally. Hopefully they would give him land, a castle, and a seat in the Queen's council.

Maybe with time there can be forgiveness? I'm not sure that Aemond would betray his brother, as much as Aegon bullies him. It would have to be a really sweet deal they are offering him. I think he's such a fascinating character! - Jess

I don't think Daemon is either b/c he swings in both ways depending on his ambition & for the purpose of his cause, which could be looked upon as being complicated. However, I do find him to be very loyal to his family, which is an honourable quality that I admire about him.

​@@MattandJessTV The fact that Daemon is too impulsive defines his flawed reaction which leaves no room for thought to that of the negative consequences that often ensue which he can't backpedal -- once done it's done! For instance, once he impulsively killed the young prince, before thinking of the terrible impact it'll play on Rhaenyra's succession to the throne, has now come to the point of no return. War is now inevitable!

Daemon is a hero(for team black at least)you'll know soon enough and the incident killing the child daemon didn't tell them to kill the child only aemond... Matt Smith even said as much in a interview and im more than sure he read the script... And him killing his wife is technically self defense she reached for her weapon first got booted off the horse and was paralyzed then she insults daemon knowing he has a temper 💀 that's self defense to me... another thing daemon doesn't want the throne he just wants what's best for his direct family he could've killed his brother and took the throne with no effort and rhaenyra asked him to marry her and she is actually using him for who he is because he's the most dangerous man in westiros she even says with him as her husband her claim wouldn't be easily challenged. They both using each other but they still love each other

I think a lot comes down to motivation -- why does someone do the things that they do? That could matter a lot when Daemon's story plays out, though he does have a checkered past and that always makes us nervous. -Matt

Daemon is neither hero nor villain. Unpopular opinion: demanding 'a son for a son' was an appropriate response and action on his behalf - the death of that kid reduces the eventual 'claim to the throne' for Aegon and his succession line - it actually, now that Aegon has been brought low, and near death in E4, downright prescient. I know a lot of folks want Aemond to take the throne, but it would have actually gone to one of Aegon's sons with Aemond a 'regent' or 'hand of' at best. Brutal and barbaric? Sure. But prudent and necessary - possibly? Daemon has always played the role of The Heavy for his family - always in places where Viserys and now his queen wife, are not brazen enough to act. For the record, when Rhyanera returns from mourning, she DOES demand Aemond's life as payment for her son - Daemon anticipated that, and did it before she ever even asked for it - he just added a little 'asterisk' to the plan, to ensure that 'some payment' was made.

People other than me want aemond on the throne? Our comments have been filled with the opposite. I thought I was on an Island with that lol. Aegon has no other sons with his wife at the moment, Aegon is currently heirless. Unless they go to flea bottom and hope one of his random kids from random women are still alive from the fight pits and he wants to make them heir? With Aegon having no heir it goes to the second son, Aemond. - Jess

I'm more Team Smallfolk, but I love the trashy Greens. lol. They are much more entertaining to watch than the Blacks, save for Daemon and Baela who are both fun.

Honestly I have no idea why the controversy is so delusionally consistent around Daemon. It’s probably to do with it being Matt Smith but I want a straight answer: what actual genuine good or heroic thing has he done or been motivated by? No he’s not all bad, he’s human. Any argument about him being a hero got thrown out when he bashed his wife’s head in with a rock. He’s selfish, prideful and impulsive. Praised for the most normal things. Loving your brother doesn’t make you incredibly loyal… it makes you human. I don’t think Daemon is anything special at all I think it’s a wish for Daemon to be all of these things and taking anything you get to keep the narrative that he’s “equal parts dark and light” alive. It’s just weird.

I agree, I think he's a grey area character and that was one of the things we mentioned as well in the hero category is that it's Matt Smith and people just love him as an actor so I think it's skewed with some of that. - Jess
