So, I don’t specifically have an African mask, but I have heard that sometimes chlorinated water can cause spots on leaves. If you don’t already, you can let your tap water sit out for 24 hours before watering your plants to let the chlorine dissipate, or water with rain, spring or distilled water. Your collection is beautiful! Try some water propagation you will have twice as many plants! So much fun...
@CrazyPlantGuy6 жыл бұрын
Pleasant Prickles Thank you 🙏 . Others have also mentioned it could be the water, so I’m going to try to let the water sit for 24 hours before watering him. 😃

I’ve also heard that boiled water, (cooled off) or spring water can help, I don’t exactly remember if it was supposed to be distilled or spring. But some plants can be very sensitive to what kind of water they’re being given, I’m going to be trying a different water with my 6ft fiddle leaf fig tree, it’s begun losing leave and browning, there’s many ideas we have that could’ve gone wrong. Main one is that it got damaged. I haven’t drank the water here in the city because it smells of bleach. 🙁

I really like the idea of having plants above your bed. It will be very soothing and tropical. How about putting a floating shelf with plants like your wandering Jew and ivy oh and pothos or some swiss cheese philodendron. They will hang and vine over but don't really have to hang from the ceiling. Good luck!

I'll leave the "decorating" to your other fans and you. However, your plants are loving life, are they not!?!?! Your prayer plant is the MOST GORGEOUS one I've ever seen! I'm nearly 65 years old & I've seen quite a few plants in my life; but, never a more beautiful prayer plant! I understand that a sideboard in that area would provide lots of storage & additional space to keep plants. It's just that it would probably block some of the light from reaching that prayer plants special spot. That would be a pity! I've only seen 2 or 3 of your videos so far and I'm a sucker for plant hauls/tours; so, here I am. What growing mix are you planting your plants in and what are you fertilizing them with? All of your different white pots are wonderful and really show your babies off! I love all the light coming into your place, too. The plant with the dry leaves might be helped by using distilled water or by allowing the water that you're planning to give them to "settle" for at least 24 hours so that some of the minerals, etc. that can burn leaves to escape. (My mother always swore by this & she had amazing houseplants!) I just love your pepperomias. That Wandering Jew is incredibly beautiful! That's my favorite variation of the plant, too. What an amazing story about your lovely jasmine! Your tour has given me some new ideas for houseplants that I'd like to try. I have mostly succulents, a hobby I started not very long ago & am head-over-heels with! I have a young bird's nest snake plant, a fairly new String of Hearts and a 'Calico Kitten' which might actually be a succulent, too. Thank you very much for sharing your wonderful collection with others. It's been great! 💜

Look at that beautiful spider plant with lots of babies! I love how they look, absolutely perfect in that tall plant stand! I think the kalanchoe plant need lot of sunlight in order to get them to bloom. You gotta move them near the window. I love the fact that most of your planters are white colour! They look so beautiful and elegant :D Yes, you definitely need plant shelves on both sides. You gotta hang some plants in your hall and bedroom. Good luck on these project! Thank you for the lovely tour video and sorry for the long comment...lol

I love your apartment and your plants! You get great light. I like your sideboard idea. I also like the idea of a shelf to the left of your TV. Maybe an industrial-looking one. Home Depot and Target carry some affordable ones, just check to see if the shelving is adjustable, or if not, make note of the height in between the shelves to make sure they will accommodate your plants. To the left of the TV, I like the idea of a large plant with two medium or smaller ones below. Floating shelves behind your sofa would look great. They could hold smaller plants as well as decor, books, etc. Maybe add some artwork and a mirror. You really have a great home. Love your style!

The African mask has similar light requirements as peace Lilies. Used to work at a garden center and these guys were some of my favorites, we kept them in the same area as out indoor peace lilies and they did great! As for watering, try not letting him dry out completely, (but still dry out some) then water theroghly, and make sure it's not sitting in water after, of course. Hope this helps!

If you don't mind crafty projects, you can make your own hanging plant holders. I hate macrame hangers, but I made some more industrial ones out of aircraft cable from Home Depot, cable clamps, and pliers. The look more industrial/modern/less old lady and get the job done.

IDK if you're still seeking ideas but for the ivy you could incorporate Command banner hangers (protecting the wall) & a heavier weight fishing line. You could do a pattern flat against the wall, run it high along the ceiling or something so that it's not of risk of harm to your cat friend.

For the African mask plant, you can try the method where you take a water saucer and fill it with rocks and then set the plant on top of it and when you water it, the water will evaporate and create humidity. I know this is kind of late but I hope it helps!!

Hi! Just wanted to let you know that the African mask plant can benefit from a humidifier and also let your water sit in a bottle for at least 24 hours then use it. Also get a small plant tray fill with some rocks and fill half way with water then set the planter on top of the rocks. Make sure the bottom of the planter is not too deep in the water but sitting just on top. My plant looked exactly like yours and I did all the things I mentioned and now it’s thriving. Look on Amazon there are really cute mini plant humidifiers that work great and also are aesthetically pleasing. I ordered a cactus shape one it it’s perfect sitting next to my plants. By the way beautiful collection! Good luck!

Alocasia and actually your fly trap need a fair amount of humidity. As someone else suggested, you can put pebbles in a tray and fill a little with water. Or use a machine humidifier or even a small water fountain both of which will move water particles around the plant increasing the humidity. And really many of those other plants will appreciate a steam bath occasionally as well :)

Love your plants! Maybe try those Ikia plant stands for your bedroom, I think it’s called a soccer stand? And some hanging plants down in your living room I think would look great! The tiered mess/ rope plant hangers are my favorite. Also, you’re orchids both look a bit dehydrated, maybe try repotting them in fresh orchid bark and get rid of any dead roots, and add some moss ontop of their pots for humidity, they may rebound for you.

I pulled the couch out away from the wall in the window and put TV trays behind it I think maybe three TV trays and that gave me enough space for two more rows of plants without taking up more than about a foot more of the living room. I also found a couple half round tables that I was able to put up against the wall in odd places

Forgot to mention about the Regal elephant ear plant. Definitely needs to be repotted. Those things grow really big and the root systems or bulbs multiply and get bigger under the soil so it needs more room to grow to full potential or close to. That’s why it’s not getting taller. You can probably even make that one plant into two just split it in half and that way you can have two:)

Your plants are thriving, great work! The african mask is having issues with its roots. If you haven't: pot in a larger pot with soil that allows aeration, gently separating any roots that may be stuck together. As some have said don't leave the soil soggy. It also may have been the result of a too-high dose of fertilizer in the past. New leaves should be fine. -Later- Yes, your whole bedroom could become a jungle due to the Southern exposure. Hang plants, use rack-style book and other shelving, it should be gorgeous. Tip: the more variegated a plant is, the more light it needs. Plants that flower or fruit need a certain daylength or amount of sun hours to again fruit or flower. The kalanchoe is a fussy plant as far as that. Your elephant ear is happy where it is, it does need some more root room though. Plants reach up and/or out because they're seeking light. When they get wider or thicker it's a sign of thriving. Pothos is pronounced pah-those. Living area: I like all your ideas. Chrome or metal style racks with adjustable shelves look great with plants and let light through. Yes, a sideboard is a great idea! Keep decorating vertically as you have a high ceiling.
@CrazyPlantGuy6 жыл бұрын

There's a book shelf, that has several shelves. I think almost any thing would look beautiful in your home.

Hi Christian. I love all your plants. You have some of my favorite ones. My question is. How do I care for a Jasmine plant and a coffee plant. I plan soon to purchase them for my birthday. When you can. Please let me know. They all are so well taken care of. Thanks again.

Rasul Hafeez Thanks Rasul. For my Jasmine I make sure he gets lots of bright light and sun. Even direct sun light. In the summer time I’ll take him outside. I never let him dry out completely I prune him after the flowers fall off to encourage more growth and flowers. The Coffee Plant is new for me so I’m still learning how to best care for him. I would follow basic care. Bright light and don’t let him dry out either. 😊

Hi Christian, Love all your plants, you are taking great care of them! The coffee plant is actually a bunch of single plants together...each one will turn into a tree and will produce coffee beans in about 4 years. I found this out through experience ;)

Meredith Kerr Thank you. I was thinking of separating the coffee plant into their own individual pot...that way they can grow faster . 😊 Thanks for the tip.

I love your mylanta look very healthy. I just killed one. You need some Shelfs, and hanging baskets to display some of your plants, and your pilea is doing well just like. I enjoyed your videos. Thank you for sharing.

Do you keep your bathroom light on constantly for the plants in the bathroom or have you found that your jade plant will do well even when the light is off a majority of the time? In love with the setup and looking forward to seeing what people recommend as well as what you decide to do with the layout!
