I've experienced a lot of hardship, and used personal responsibility to overcome many challenges. I would even say the concept of personal responsibility has been a core value of mine since I was a teen, but when I entered a prolonged psychologically abusive relationship with someone who probably meets the DSM criteria for ASPD, the line between what I was responsible for and what he was responsible for became less clear and felt very confused. That's why videos like this are needed.

This was a short video, but packed with lots of good info, that when digested, has the potential to change your life. A lot of people do not like to hear this message, as the Dr said, but it should be looked at as empowerment rather than a negative. I certainly took away a lot to implement in my own life, thanks!!

Dr Cloud Thank you so very much for this video. I took your short video and spent 3hrs note taking and making my list of what I can take responsibility for. My treasures and I’m feeling lighter and so thankful that you always share your favorite verse, as I’m a person of Faith also. God Bless you and staff as you share so many healing teachings. ❤😊

9:25 - what you just said there was so helpful, Dr. Also- I wanted to say... (& I think this is because of you and Townsend, and perhaps some others)... I learned to say, I take up the responsibility for things I Did Not Do to Myself; things I did not cause or start - (because children learn what they live). What that looks like for me is... praying about the changing of my neuroplasticity (& working on that). But also, and more importantly, Learning to walk by faith.

I only get upset about personal responsibility when I don't want to take it. 😉 Seriously, this is excellent content.

Not a lot of comments on this subject matter, the silence is pretty interesting. 🙃

My 23-yr-old son who lives with me and who I have tried to figure out his whole life (special education Emotional disorder) has so much vitriolic hatred towards me! Tonight he machined gunned hateful text messages to me. It's cyclical. It's really hard to deal with. My current husband also does not take responsibility for his actions either so we are separated. I just don't know what to do at this point.

I've been in your shoes. Just wait on God....beg God to show you your sins. Ask him to show you the original sin that you were born with. Take responsibility for your desire that others would serve you, or help you, or wait on you. This is between you and God. It's about your own personal growth...so keep your thoughts to yourself because I doubt that anyone else wants to hear your opinions. That's where you begin to heal...let others do their own healing and their spiritual growth...you take care of yours. ❤

Can you consider and speak about abuse being a misappropriation of responsibility? I've heard that, I do agree about taking ownership if I get hit by a car it's my responsibility.
