I have a question about long-term fasting: 3 days or more at a time. On a long-term fast, the body goes into protein conserving mode so as to minimize the catabolization of the body's own tissues. As I understand it, the body's metabolism remains in that state as long as one does not consume protein. So my question is, is there a minimum amount of protein one can consume which will not kick one out of that protein conservation mode of metabolism?

That last point is really interesting. So what to do to supply the muscles with leucine throughout times of need? If not to sip a leucine drink or take a pill every now and then throughout the day, would slow-digesting beef do the trick??

nutrition.merschat.com/ Soy/Tofu, Egg Whites, Cheese, Peanuts, Almonds, Pumpkin Seeds, Beef (but not liver). Good to take when you've done resistance training. Good to have less when you've been lazy (or are taking resveratrol or other mTOR blockers).

That's a good question.. except creating a longer lasting leucine formula, i guess we just must take it more often

It sounds crazy but I felt nervous on Leucine like a stimulant? My heart was racing anyone else?
@tylerfaz Жыл бұрын
Yes. This happened for me as well. I switched to taking it first thing in the morning before light exercising. This seems to have blunted the jittery effect.

Isn't mTot activated by carbs via insulin->igf1 pathway?
@chrisawesome30912 жыл бұрын
It has multiple activations
@vladyslav7432 жыл бұрын
@@chrisawesome3091 that's my point. strange to see how people suddenly got worried about animal protein and suggest consuming more plant-based which means more carbs and as a result the same activation of mTOR.

yeah even nicotine can activate some mTOR...
