its pretty clear depression got him. thats why people say stuff like that. i think on some level he knows how big of a dissappointment he and that contract is and he just doesnt know how to deal with it. You can say anything you please if you back it up with performance. Some of my favorite off-the-cuff talkers, Marshawn Lynch, Nikola Jokic, the great Kobe Bryant, they always were authentic and didn't care about their image because they absolutely backed up their words with performance. Being a trash talker while under a huge contract under which you are clearly overpaid is a most disgraceful idea

Rendon was evaluated as much more than his talent warrants. Had the good year at the right time for free agency but he was never all that. I know it is easy for me to say now but I was saying then as well. Angels are where they are because of signings such as Rendon. 2019 was luckiest year of his life.
@OhNoBruno7 ай бұрын
2019 was a perfectly time contract year but he was consistently excellent in Washington. People shouldn’t diminish that just because of the disastrous contract the Angels gave him.
@AMan-rg4en7 ай бұрын
@@OhNoBruno He was consistent for 4 years including 2019. 2024 will be 5 years of consistency in poor performance, amazing how that happens after free agency. Baseball is a craft not a job, it is similar to being an artist. No matter to me if you don’t “love” your team, however you should respect your skills and craft. To call it a job flys in the face of those who punch a time clock, they would trade for Rendon’s “job” any day. Rendon in calling his craft a job is stating that his so called “talent” is an imposition.
@OhNoBruno7 ай бұрын
@@AMan-rg4en All I'm saying is the talent he displayed in Washington warranted a big contract, even if he's been brutally bad due to lack of effort/interest, injuries, etc. You're trying to knock what he accomplished with the Nationals based on his performance with the Angels. That doesn't work.

I watched him in Washington and he seemed like such a chilled dude. It’s a real shame that his career has come to this point. Rendon has always been a bit of a wildcard off the field and to be honest, those injuries look to be, at least looking at the highlights, legitimate. As a lifelong Expo/Nats fan, Rendon and every player on that 2019 team, will always be special to me. Winning that championship, when I thought I would never see one, makes me blind to any of these superficial issues. He could be more respectful, for sure, however. His signing was a reaction to the fact the Angels, who have been seeking FA Starting pitcher for six seasons to compliment Trout, failed to do so. So rather than come away from the off-season empty handed they signed Rendon. But the bigger Angel issue is the failure to sign top free agent pitchers. Tyler Anderson is the best they could do in six years. Not good enough. Keeping in mind Ohtani was purchased. Not acquired as a FA.
