I noticed that head gasket was copper so you could anneal it to get it pilable again. Heat it with a cooker or gas torch until cherry red then allow it to cool naturally. The copper will be annealed again and good for next use. You can do the same with copper crush washers if they are in good shape. They work harden over time and annealing makes them soft again.

The gouges in the piston and cylinder port aren't disastrous. Two new piston rings and a few new gaskets, this dog is good for another 20 years! 🐶

Wiseco should have a piston kit and i believe the jug is boreable up to .080. The jug should clean up with that. They sell sizes in increments of 0.010 usually. The bike looks identical to my 1982 IT175J. You should bore it out and woods race it.

I don’t get why they don’t make piston rings that wrap around like twice around, kinda like a very short spring. Wouldn’t that be like the equivalent of having two rings? Wouldn’t the compression be way better? Wouldn’t it create a better seal?
@powerbomb4002 жыл бұрын
You should be able to get a new sleeve for the cylinder. Suzuki at one time used a single ring in the RM's. Had to be rebuilt like every 10 or 20 running hours. I thought the Blaster motor was same as the IT motor.

I had a 1982 Yamaha IT250. I rode it for months with no issues except for the Carburetor Intake Manifold. It was cracked, and had been "repaired" with Gasket Maker which was causing a massive air leak, and I was unable to tune the Carburetor properly. I finally found a company on Ebay that made replica Manifolds for $120. I eventually traded it for a clapped out 2010 Yamaha TTR-230 after I realized parts were hard to find/expensive for these old bikes. The boy I traded it to was riding it, and it blew up on him the next day. I honestly didn't think it'd ever blow up. I question if he didn't mix the gas properly, and leaned the top end out too much as these old bikes require a very rich mixture (20:1).

Hey man..You need to prefer parts for a Yamaha blaster- atv ..Same cylinder/head/piston /rings/gasket kit all identical
@mrsandman56792 жыл бұрын
You should give it a new piston and rings and new gasket kit. Jet it decent and get the right slide for the carb and that bike Will actualy run better than you think. You should clean up the plastics abit to and allso do a topspeed run on it. If you drive it with piston and cylinder like that i would mix abit more oil with gas just to be on safe side!

Loads of race bikes only have one ring, 125 and 200SX KTM's for example. We ran the 465/490 Yamahas with only the top ring only until Wiseco brought out a single Dykes ring piston and then Yamaha made one. The only downside is you need to change them more often but on a race bike it doesn't matter.

I haven't seen most of the video yet but I wonder if you could use a YZ cylinder and piston. Maybe slightly different CC but if the cylinder fit and the piston fit the cylinder it might work. You could probably take that cylinder and piston to someone who was good at TIG welding and they might be able to fix them.

My 93 rm125 does the same exact thing where the clutch slips and won’t grab bogs out when you go on the throttle more then 1/4-1/2, and revs itself out. It’s inconsistent and when it’s there it’s very noticeable and barely rideable(have to hit the killswitch so my bike doesn’t blow itself up😂). Took my clutches out they r shot, gonna replace and hopefully that fixes the issue
