Robocop 2 isn't bad.. It's not as good as Robocop, but it's got some great scenes, great action, better practical effects than the original, and the satire is on par with the original.. Agreed, especially how menacing Robocain was in that film 😨
@454brianbat2 жыл бұрын
I completely disagree with you and agree with Mark. When I left the theater after seeing the second, I left unhappy. I felt even back then at about the age of 10 that they had some great concepts but could not pull it out and destroying everything that was accomplished in the original. I also did not enjoy the scene that the writers later did not do anything about later, and that was the whole thing with his ex-wife and staring out a window watching her. Murphy, not Robocop was satisfied and ready to move on with his life. The second does not have that feel, at all. It feels like all the character building from the first movie was completely destroyed and they acted like it never happened. It feels like they did not enjoy the story of the fist and left some of those elements in the second and the problem is that it did not make any sense to anyone. It is again a let down and we are left with a completely watered down movie from the original. Many elements that were left open from the original were never completed in the series and were never mentioned again. And the man that owned OCP turned into something he was not and that was an asshole. Remember, he was the redeeming factor of the film that put common sense back into that situation by firing Dick and allowing Murphy (Not Robocop) to kill Dick. Without that action/ decision that ending would not have happened and there would have been a different continuation. Everything rested on that termination of employment. Showing that the owner of OCP is not a bad guy. So, the other movies are a sham.

Robocop: Cool special effects, cool satire, cool (and super scary) robot (ed 209). Robocop 2: Cool special effects, cool ( and even more scarier) robot (Kain). But bad, over the top plot. Robocop 3: Bad special effects, terrible robot (Otomo, its not even an animatronic or stop motion doll, just a regular asian guy), terrible plot, production practically screams "low budget!". And worst thing, no Peter Weller ( and they kill Nancy Allen!). Robocop (2013): Cool but generic special effects, generic CGI robot (ed 209), bad pace, ugly Robocop armor (the black one, the classic grey rocks, but appears just for a little time). It's ok for the new audiences, but unbearable for old time fans.

Like Mozart, wrote his first sonnet at the age of four. And so on so on. It's possible there could a kid that could do that. Also I don't think the kid actor gets enough credit playing this young villain. I thought he was great, the kid has talent! I thought this kid had some potential to be a really good actor. And considering how most child actors can be obviously terrible, I thought this kid in robo cop2, successfully conveyed a cold, creepy, erie, manipulating monster. I kinda compare him to almost Griffin from berserker, if he wasn't killed off too soon. But hey that's just me. I respectfully disagree with your opinion.

Yeah, it was a bad movie but it did have some good points. 1. Robocop is conflicted between upholding the law and protecting the weak. The two are at odds with each other. 2. The gangs are given weapons to wreck havoc on the city like today think Portland, Seattle, etc. 3. The police resign. Today police are resigning form the cities with riots because they are prohibited from doing their job. The movie was prophetic.

Any time my mind goes to Robocop, my mind thinks of the original. My mind does not think about the other two I saw and definitely not the remake that you have more content for your show. Even right now, writing this comment the amazing score from the first Robocop is playing in my head. What these studios do not understand that they do understand is that yes, us audiences do want more, but what they do not understand is that we do not want watered down episodes of movies and TV. And this cheapness of the 90's and early 2000's of planning on shooting a movie in video with that crappy audio/ video ability. I mean, yes, remasters can restore video of all kinds similar to how they restore film, but the quality in the beginning and years later to restore is not as good as any type of cheap film from the 70's. And the lies saying that they cannot restore video is just crap, they do that all the time. I just do not enjoy how the studios water down movie entries to a point that they are nothing like the original. I mean MASH the movie is in credible. The TV show was boring. Dazed and Confused is awesome but that 70's Show is just ridiculous and at least MASH the TV show resembled the movie. To where That 70's Show does not take place in Texas, does not have cool cars, and does not have beer and weed. What did we get? A bunch of teenagers sitting around a table smelling incense and not drinking beer. Now like MASH TV show they were lucky they had good writers and actors to pull out those lines. One thing I hugely do not enjoy about MASH TV show is that god awful laugh track. Anyway, the first Robocop is the best and the director not will go down in history as the best sci-fi director but is called that.

I loved Robocop 3. Sure, it has some weak spots and continuity issues, but the plot serves as a pretty good window into the struggle between establishment and resistance. Robocop 3 is pretty much the culmination of what has happened from the first film that leads citizens to ultimately become mobilized and fight back.

for everyone talking shit about the remake...you're right. it's bad. it's dumb. it strays too far from it's source material. the absolute worst thing about the remake of RoboCop? it exists. there was absolutely no reason to remake it. none. it couldn't be done better, so it had no other way to go but down. and it went down. it's pointless shit.

Am I the only person who thinks the reboot wasn't all that bad?
@andychow55098 жыл бұрын
I lacked all the intelligence of the first and missed the mark on everything. The first was the best, with the news clips, and often the bad guys and the corporate guys would say the exact same sentences. Like the OCP's Dick Jones: "I say good business is where you find it", later Clarence Boddicker says: "Good business is where you find it" when dealing with the coke dealer. It's full of these pearls.

Andy Chow I wasn't even implying it was better than the original. I was just saying when compared to the *direct* sequels, it's not so horrible.
@johnsmith-jz6my7 жыл бұрын
It was really good. But people wont be talking about the reboot in 25 years, however, people will still be talking about the original 25 years from now. Thats the difference between the remake and the original.

Something that I really hate about sequels is how, in many cases, they tend to retcon things that were established in the first movie. This is most prevalent with bad sequels, but even the good ones tend to do this sometimes. (Spoilers for Terminator, Highlander and Transformers ahead). For example, the first Terminator told us that you can't really change the past, but then T2's like "No, you can change the past if you want to." Or Transformers, it ends with Bumblebee getting his voice back, but then at the beginning of the next movie it's broken again for no explainable reason (not to mention the fact that Megatron was killed at the end and then the Decepticons easily revive him later). Or Highlander, which ends with Conner winning the Prize, which means that he is the last of the immortals, but then suddenly there are more in the next movie. Then we have RoboCop 2. I could probably go on and on, but you get my point.

DecrepitServant cliché doesn't really mean bad. In fact, you can make a story better with cliché as long as you know how to use them. I'm not saying that make all movie with cliché good but I don't think cliché are that bad. PS This is in no way showing my true opinion on this movie
