Mike's having a great time in the chaos of MoP: Remix, but there's no denying Blizzard's handling of the Frogs and their follow ups leave something to be desired. Mike has some ideas on how they can go about fixing it by leaning into the silliness. How's your experience of Remix been so far?

I do think the frog's definitely left a stain on the game for sure, I do think it's more for folks obtaining collectibles they weren't able to get back than, or even new players like myself leading into retail now. I am one of those people who was about 1,5 hours every day to play WoW. I am spending all of my time in Remix. I am having a great time. I don't really care about all this nerfing and grinding etc. I am having fun at the moment and that's why I play. Retail is not giving me the satisfaction of power and power gain that Remix is currently giving me, so yeah, I doubt I'd last until the prepatch without Remix. That said, I totally agree that Blizz still has not learned how to run a 'live' game. The Helldivers 2 devs totally get it, they are doing great stuff engaging the community. Even though I do not play, I enjoy reading about it in my feeds. Blizz seem like a bunch of autistic kids trying to make the world fit into their little box.

The biggest issue is definitely the fact that Bronze is both power upgrade and reward currency.

Wouldn't matter nearly as much IF: 1- Upgrade cost was not so insane. OR 2- Heroic / mythic raids dropped WAY more bronze than normal/lfr. Like 4x-10x more. Upgrading is so mandatory in later raids that skill means absolutely nothing, only ilvl will allow you to survive unavoidable damage. But you do not recoup that cost at all.

Let's define unbalanced nightmare, shall we? I don't think it's fair that people's lack of self control means that every dungeon has turned into a boost. It's boring as hell. As much as I can see the point and I wouldn't exactly mind an unbalanced nightmare, this is also a game which is supposed to be fun and if the unbalanced nightmare, as it were, is just boring, then what's the point? Also, I'm not talking about boring for the frogger, this is an mmo with group content, the fact that 1% of the playerbase is 10000% more powerful than 99% of the rest makes it incredibly boring to not grind frogs for hours (also boring). Also, if everyone was "OP and unbalanced" then nobody are, imagine a raid boss with a full group of froggers. It's gone in less than a second, you can just fill the group with dps. Blizzard would have to buff raids etc. To keep the integrity of the fact that it's a game, and then you are just back to square one.

Its actually kind of funny how not tuned into the greater gaming sphere the WOW team is. Leagues in OSRS is one of the most fun experiences I've had playing games. This is because the Dev's said "This is meant to be overpowered and enclosed to this event" In an interview, a dev literally said "This wasn't OP enough to put into the game mode". When i saw MOP remix, I thought that was going to be the experience. Get super strong and just blast. The saving grace for this event is the transmog really. Only reason i want to keep going.

The entire concept of osrs tho is your playing solo especially in leagues where there is no trading and your not forced to group up with people because you get so overpowered that even your average player can easily do difficult "group" bosses solo. Wow does not work the same way at all, your progression is entirely tied to group content even if you do no group content you will eventually hit a wall where if you want to progress you have to do group content. Remix was always labeled as a reliving of the old xpack but with extra powerful effects meaning raids and dungeons are a massive part of that and if people were extremely overpowered come a month in nobody would have cared but when people who abused frogs or other farms go into dungeons and raids they take away almost all of the fun for everyone else in there and instead of it feeling like a raid or dungeon your spectating someone else doing it.

The main problem is not even the power alone - the problem is that Blizzard forced people to decide between powering up their gear and buying the cosmetics, mounts etc they want. What they should've done is two separate currencies that people gain simultaneously. And player behaviour didn't help at all either. What happened if the "normal" players tried to get accepted into a normal or heroic raid? They were rejected again and again because way too many people building the raids only wanted the guys that could solo the raids in their group. The most extreme case that happened to me was this: I applied for a normal raid - and got rejected because I don't have 5 million HP.

Blizzard - as per usual - seem afraid of people having fun the wrong way. There's also a bunch of bugs with the cosmetics that this mode is all about. In addition to that, it would be nice if the recolours and new models from those treasure boxes were available from a vendor so you're not reliant on RNG when everything else is so deterministic.

Farmed to gear cap 476(556 items), solo'd most of the heroic raids(mechanic allowed), thing that made me quit was the fact that, my alts didn't inherit my 14k all stats cloak and 120k stam. Didn't exploit anything, just did all the dailies, world bosses, farmed heroic dungeons solo for threads, but it's the shittest for alts. Spent 4 days 6 hours play time to get there. Can't even move it to other characters.

What annoys me the most about mop remix is the focus they put on gear rather than leveling the cape. The fact the cape isn't cumulative has mostly killed the event. I'm leveling a couple more alts for achievements but plan to quit it soon. What I first heard was an awesome experience to go back through mop and to get powerful by playing in any way a person chooses. It didn't matter if you were leveling in the overworld, running dungeons, running raids, or killing rares. Everything added to the cape and the cape let you become overpowered. Funny how that doesn't work and they set limits on the cape with a push towards just leveling gear. I've enjoyed going back through mop but feel very much lied too in the marketing especially given now that the devs refused to cut the cost of gear upgrades. That makes a good chunk of rewards completely unattainable.

THANK YOU. When I highlighted all of these things I got clowned on and jumped on for "not getting it" or "never being satisfied" or " it only takes a few hours every day". Some people really think playing 4+ hours a day of a timed event for 1 month or more just to get the basic advertised experience is "fine" Look I play games for 6+ hours almost every day. I am NOT the average player and I STILL think it's outrageous. Can I do it? Yes. Is it soul crushingly and mind-numbingly boring? YES.

I agree. I largely stopped playing the game when I realized how long it would take to get to that op experience. I log in every day or two and do my dungeon/scenario/raid dailies for the bronze, but once you hit 70 and realize that there's no way to quickly or efficiently grind bronze to get all the high-priced cosmetics, it just becomes such a chore. I wish Blizzard could just let everyone get the rewards fast so that they could spend their time doing things they actually enjoy. For example, all the rewards for Plunderstorm unlock at 100k plunder. I played it until I had about 670-680k plunder because I *loved* that game mode-- but it would've been extremely miserable if you were forced into getting 500k plunder for all rewards even if it was doable.

The whole point of this mode was that we were suppose to be so overpowered that it trivialized the encounters. Granted they probably figured it'd be Day 50+ versus Day 5, but who cares. @@Dhalin I think at this point blizzard should just up the speed on certain reps such as Timeless isle and the Isle of Thunder one and then boost peoples power lvls close to those who frog farmed. I think by now theres just so many overpowered players that we are losing out anyways. My lock struggles to get into normals sometimes and when i do like 5 out of the 10 people in there have over 5m hp. Idk the event is fun for me cause i played mop when it was current but being so far behind (well feeling so far behind) it just feels like itll be harder for me to go for the herioc raid title and if i chose to try go for the FoS for Mythic SoO garrosh for that title.

With all of the nerfs and "fixes", if you can call them that, it is pretty obvious what their intention is with this mode. It is not about fun or giving the players a feeling of being overpowered. It is strictly to keep them subscribed for those 3 months before TWW comes out. This could actually work against them and burn people out just before the new expansion. Nobody wants to do every MoP raid every day for 90 days, I mean come one dude, who the hell thought that was a good idea?

Very simple, two years ago Blizzard fired their support, their QA and their BT, everyone whose job is to make sure the game is working as intended by the dev's to look good on the market share at the cost of long term quality. That's the so call "genius" of B.Kotick, make a shell of a company to increase it's short term value and destroy it on the long run.

Blizzard always does the same things over and over again. They never change. They make X content, Y bugs or exploits happen from lack of testing, they screw the fix up. Every expansion, every time. War Within will bring some good things but inevitably something causes problems.

Contrary to a lot of community sentiment, I'm glad Blizzard nerfed frogs. It was a degenerate and stupid grind I wanted no part of. HOWEVER, they should have solved the problem by buffing other sources (or at least nerfing gear upgrade costs), not just nerfing the frogs and frog farmers. I'm a hardcore collector and have the flexibility to play quite a bit, but good god I don't think I can finish remix. I'm already hesitant to log in for another tour of raids. Phew. Don't even get me started on the shitty alt leveling experience, that just got forgotten about by 90% of people because of all the other issues - but limiting the cloak on alts is fundamentally the dumbest thing they did. Reminds me of shadowlands decision making.

No body wants to spend three months playing an old game mode. People want to come in for how ever long they want and just blow stuff up and just leave. Blizzard really trying to force people to stay in mop for three whole months. It really needs to be wow if it had no rules. Side note since you mentioned fated: The mechanics they use for gearing in fated... should be base line IN MY OPINION, but this is just another facet of blizzard trying to make you feel obliged to raid every week for gear you need or want until the next patch. Who cares about how many active subs you have when your metric is engagement.

What? I was 100% prepared to play Remix for the whole 3 months. I was looking forward to it. Turns out there won't even be 3 months worth of content here. My gear is already max. I'm banking loads of bronze per day. Chances are I will have every single item bought out by week 5 or so, and I don't even particularly want every single item. If anything it would be nice if the pace were a bit slower.

Remix is a lot of fun, but I have to agree, all this micromanaging bullshit is jarring. I don't have time for to grind, so as soon as I hit 70, I just level a a new alt, since I can't even survive a heroic dungeon with that crap gear. It's really a missed opportunity to make good on their promise of having everybody be OP instead of getting weaker and weaker the closer you get to 70

That's with like... doing the bare minimum, missing a few days of dailies. We have Era, Cata Classic, Era HC, MoP Remix, Retail. Why do you need to try and trick people into staying subbed 3 months for MoP Remix?
