Couple reasons I think Bo is particularly well suited among D1 champion wrestlers to do good in mma. 1- He’s a plus athlete. MMA is too broad to be elite at everything. Athleticism is the glue that covers up holes in peoples game and allows fight-changing moments to happen 2- His wrestling style suggests he can be an dangerous submission artist. Hard to think of many guy who jump on pinning positions as aggressively and successfully as Bo. Put that with freaky scrambling ability for a larger guy and the potential to be a guy who gets finishes on the ground is there. 3- He’s with the biggest/highest funded gym in mma and they’re all in on him and he’s clearly taking it seriously. Bo looked very fluid in his striking for a wrestler making his debut. 185 is a very shallow but violent division in mma. The grappling has gone downhill in that division the last few years Bo could be poised for a run.

Who does not like Bo Nickal as a sportsman and person?I am totally for him but I know what others do not know and I am sure will face criticism for saying it.I had hoped Bo would have been wise enough or had someone around him to advise him.MMA is a waste of precious time God has given him to accomplish something of eternal value with the life given him.Sorry to tell everyone .Making a living buy knocking people unconscious or doing massive bodily harm for sport is not what God wants anyone to be doing including Bo Nickal. I am not saying everyone who participates in MMA is going to hell but I am saying it is not from God and when people stand before him there will be no reward for being a UFC champion.I have heard through the years professions of faith by many collegiate wrestlers. My hope is that they would transfer their wrestling tenacity into becoming fighters for The Lord.We wrestle not against flesh and blood but against principalities and powers of spiritual wickedness.God will still use and accomplish as much good as possible through the people in MMA because that’s the capabilities God has,but it is not his perfect will for those involved. It is multiple steps down from what he has for them and where he would like them to start an be.I do see in the future many people in MMA being enlightened by God and fully understanding just what he thinks of MMA and many other matters !At that time they will be fully enlisted into his army doing the type of real fighting that has true value and he wants and needs done for there fellow man and humanity. It’s unfortunate they could not start sooner. The talents and personality gifts ,excluding there ability to physical fight and render someone unconscious, the people in MMA have like all gifts from God are valuable treasures that need to be used the way Heaven wants for the good of everyone.MMA is only a few steps down from the abominable entertainment in Roman coliseum’s.Many of us are ,myself included ,not much different than those attending those games.Waiting for someone to get smashed or kicked in the face by someone are vain thinking supports.I just hope and will pray the present MMA fighters that are destined to be used as spiritual warriors for Heavens purposes and do not suffer serious harm by being involved in an activity that could seriously hurt them!

Wrestling really is the best base overall. Like. Rogan said right after Randy Couture CRUSHED James Toney... “What we learned in 1993 still holds true today” I’m referring to Wrestling/Grappling the ground game as a whole. Of course today’s MMA fighter has to be good at every aspect of fighting. Bo Nickal will continue improving his striking and BJJ and I expect to see him as a champ one day.

As a wrestler all 4 years in high school, I was always in awe of the state champs, several of which came from my own school in Omaha, NE. I mean, how good could one be and how do they know how to adapt so quickly to an ever changing palette of opponents moves? That level of talent is crazy! They were usually beasts and eclipsed the rest of us physically. Come to find out years later that they were 2-3 years older than we were, so had obviously been held back several years in grade and middle school. That explained alot and I just shook my head as for their age, they really should have been wrestling varsity or at least JV as freshman. In any event, I had the amazing and rare opportunity to wrestle the state champ my sophomore year at 155 during a subsequent summer AAU meet and I was excited at the opportunity and determined to come out of nowhere and pin him. Well, not only did I not pin him but he pinned me without pinning me - meaning I don't know how in the hell he did it as it was some strange combination of moves that got me there to the point that I didn't even know my shoulders were on the mat! I remember him shooting me on takedowns and he was so smooth and fast that all I could do was watch him execute with no way to stop him. Granted although he was a senior and 2 years older, it was a privilege to experience that level of skill and it has humbled me ever since. I'll never forget that match.

I mean, I guess it is a good foundation, but I'd argue judo and BJJ, along with Shotokan karate, those are the ones I'd want to get really good in to have a chance at MMA. I'm interested in seeing a fight with him and Khamzat, Khamzat is definitely bigger for sure, and a bit taller. Both are great wrestlers, with Bo being clearly better, but since this is MMA wrestling, I think Khamzat would also beat him in the wrestling department. I know this might be wayyyyy too early, but I do see him becoming a UFC champion IF he goes to Middleweight, if it's at Welterweight, his chances go down. Knees can be avoided by using upper body clinch wrestling. Also just using go behinds judo throws. But still need to learn clinch defense to avoid muay Thai plum knees. Also if you set the double up well it's very difficult for an opponent to knee you coming in. Hence why gsp never got caught by a knee during a takedown. He always set it up well.
