Got to love Egyptian airports. Flew out of one last year and there were additional security checks on hand luggage at the departure gate which was causing some consternation with the passengers. My wife (because she's very good at this sort of thing) turned to the security guard and said "It's not your fault and thankyou for doing your job" and he smiled and waved us through without so much as a glance at our luggage.

Actually... the airport attendant who realizing the confusion gave you the best advice ever... "go to the gate!" Ps. I just spent two pleasant evenings at the Novotel Nha Trang. They now provide a pair of flip flops in the rooms with each flip flop having a different color presumably to reduce "disappearance". But I can only guess that the disappearance has got worse because they are being sold in the gift shop with the two separate colors!

On end of October they switch off day light saving so flight time was 12:25 but was switched back to 11:25 and some clocks in the airport didn’t switch back because the daylight configs aren’t 100% shared to all time servers (so even some phones switch to new time and some remain depending on the maker/carrier combo). The reason is they spontaneously decided to use daylight saving that year and even they communicate the start/end dates of the daylight saving months or even weeks before it starts or ends. The whole airport hasn’t had any major upgrades since 2008 roughly so that’s why it is in that shape and why it doesn’t have a real lounge, you would understand more if you read through the contemporary and current political scene in Egypt. Same goes for why the aircrafts are old but clean

I didn't know Egypt follows DST hahaha. (it's not where one would imagine there is considering the weather there is stereotyped to be sunny and daylight all year.) Regardless I'll try to guess what happened based on my a little bit of searching. On 27 Oct 2023 00:00 (or 26 Oct 2023 24:00), Egypt/Cairo switches its time zone from UTC+03:00 to UTC+02:00. (meaning the second after 2023-10-26T23:59:59(UTC+03:00), it becomes 2023-10-26T23:00:00(UTC+02:00), again.) Jordan/Amman uses UTC+03:00 year-round), which makes it even more confusing. Hence at 2:06 of the video, technically it's not possible to tell whether it's 23:10 Amman time or 00:10 (the next day) Amman time. Maybe if there was a UTC time stamp, it will make everything easier (20:10 UTC vs 21:10 UTC). I think at 6:50 FR24 shows the time more accurately, with the flight's accurate STD and ETD being 00:25 and 00:37 respectively. Anyway, great video as always!
@tfft7 ай бұрын
Yes- some said in comments, "follow the display board times since they're automatically updated and the other clocks need to be updated manually..." ... I'd generally agree with that comment except for the fact that things were in reverse. The manual clocks were displaying the earlier times and the fact that the display boards didn't show the correct times meant that they actually changed the "time" of departure for all of the flights. Was a mess.

Would always trust the monitors that are at least showing both time and flights. The red LED clocks are probably done manually. Interesting that the change occured at midnight. In most other countries its between 2am and 3am with clocks moving forward or back.
@tfft7 ай бұрын
From how I understand it, the clocks were meant to go reverse one hour “1 second after 23:59:59” on 26 October. Problem was I got there around 22:00 on 26 October and the times were already different. Considering the time was falling back, you’d assume the later time would be on the manual clocks and the earlier on the display boards, but it was the other way around.
