I majored in nuclear engineering, with a minor in maths. Paid my own way, because I worked in high school, and worked throughout college; graduated with no debt. It was a great career, although not without a bit of physical damage. Wouldn't change it if I had a chance. I loved it, and had my famous "15 minutes of fame" doing that. Then I stupidly quit to go to grad school for another engineering degree, and it's been downhill ever since. Like $8.75/hour rent-a-cop. Oh, boy, I could have used some adult advice on that one. Im a 21 year old who isn't going to college but I do still live with me dad I do pay my own bills, food, and gas. I'm working on getting something going but it's really sad that all my friends are going the college route and I told them don't but they didn't listen and all I can do is watch them go into a bunch of debt

Electrician, plumber, HVAC tech, Construction (Roofer, Sider, Window Install). Go to work for a reputable firm, they will often train you for free. Show up on time every day, and take EVERY chance to work extra hours. You will be noticed by the owners. Learn from them (good and bad). Leave them after 5+ years to do your own business, OR stay with them and climb up that ladder into management. I know 30 something’s that are already millionaires because they took the jobs in demand and not what was prestigious.

My second degree is STEM. I had saved up for it prior to retiring. Got an IT job but lost it because I refused to participate in using an experimental drug that has not yet been fully tested. I'm in the control group. I will look again for work but fk Jay Inslee.

Nice rant, but technically he did not explain "how they can be so dumb". In my opinion part of it is due to the majors they choose. Perhaps if more of these kids studied STEM or went into vocational training then they wouldn't be so dumb. Also, feminism tends to lead to poor life choices.

@@doctorx1924 From my perspective social awkwardness doesn't mean someone is dumb. Some of the world's most brilliant minds are socially awkward individuals because their thoughts are preoccupied on more important things. Mark Zuckerberg, Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, etc. All socially awkward, and I bet Elon Musk is the only one who knows how to change a tire. But, they certainly are not dumb people. Mark Zuckerberg was once asked why he wears a hoodie everyday and he replied it is because he doesn't want to waste any time thinking about something as trivial as what to wear. That makes perfect sense to me, but it just adds to his social awkwardness.

College graduate here. Some of the dumbest people I met were people I went to college with. At the time I wondered how you could get into college being that dumb. Can’t say I was much smarter considering that I got a useless psychology degree. But later on I wised up and learned a trade and started my own business

Think of it this way, the more people make dumb decisions that set them back in life, the easier it will be to out compete them and live a better life than they will. Worry about YOURSELF, not what others are doing. Your situation is the only one that you should be concerned about.

It's not just college though, now it sounds like more and more Jobs are lacking in that ''Fiscal Accountability'' factor, further reinforcing the opinion ''why waste my time, and energy, for a job ?'' In other words, what's the point in working if it costs more than what anyone is making ? Wonder if anyone's been like ''can I get PAID to go to college ?'' and then get that corporate credit line about student loans being money ?

Despite their edgy, obnoxious exteriors, young people are fundamentally naïve and trusting. It's instinct, evolved characteristics from days when humans lived close to the bone in tighter communities. They just don't get that they're getting fucked over with an over-hyped, life ruiningly expensive coming of age ritual until it's too late. They always have to learn the hard way. This sense of getting fucked over by those who have status and power above them (the elders) who they instinctively expect care from, rightly or wrongly, may explain why hatred of capitalism has exploded in popularity. It's dumb, it's clearly at odds with the reality of the world, but it is also just human nature. It currently calls itself 'liberal' but IMO these instincts are actually highly conservative.
