Yup. Reminds me of a boss I had at a local grocery store. We had orientation at a building across the street, and on the way over to the store, my boss told us new recruits to head into the store, while he went into a neighboring parking lot to grab a shopping cart that some customer of ours had taken off premises. He could have had any of us do it, but he did it himself. This guy was always working. If he was walking from the back of the store to the front, he would face the shelves (move stock to the front) on the way. He was always stopping to pick up little pieces of paper or whatever off of the floor while on his way to somewhere else. It made everyone else OK with doing that as well. He didn't just order people around.

Recent American immigrants? Didn't she say she came to the US in 1984?
@sittingstill35786 жыл бұрын
True but she’s technically first generation (or 1.5) US citizen. The team in the kitchen features chefs that still have strong accents so they too are likely first generation. I’m still really proud of these awesome, hardworking chefs. Keep up the great work. 😎

@@sittingstill3578 if you immigrated here, you're not first generation
@sittingstill35785 жыл бұрын
lefty7887, that’s how I’ve always understood it. If you immigrate and gain citizenship then you are the first generation of your family to be an American. The children that are born next are second generation. However, because the chef in this video was born outside the US, she should be first generation as well. The folks I grew up around referred to people like this as 1.5 gen to differentiate them from their parents. How do you classify it?
@sultan7185 жыл бұрын
@@sittingstill3578 normally first generation American means the first generation to be born in the US. my parents immigrated to the US in the 70's. I was born in new york and consider myself a first generation american.

Such a wholesome Lady, She cares about her staff and her job as well as takes pride as everything she does. She cares about the customer reviews and work to address it promptly. She's a leader who helps everyone else instead of shouting at them and bossing them around. She loves what she does, her life, her job and that's why the restaurant is going so amazing. I wish we had more bosses like her in the world :')

There are quite a few notable women in professional cooking. It's actually less and less like that seemingly, but there are a lot of names from Europe--many deceased--who are held in very high esteem.

Literally nothing to do with her gender. She's just incredibly competent, extremely dedicated and has very high standards. She should be respected and admired on that alone.

Fisselig it does matter though because for a long time in this industry, it was primarily dominated by men. It’s important to see a woman dominate in this field. It’s inspiring for young women!

BS, an apprentice starts a regular sushi place, they're on rice duty on their first few days. I live in Japan. That perfect place you imagine exists only in your heads. There are more than 20000 sushi places only in Tokyo. If an apprentice took 3 years to make rice all those places wouldn't be able to find enough people to work for them.
@sant-oyo3874 жыл бұрын
@@ibec69 Im pretty sure they mean real deal top sushi rice. I’m not an expert but there’s a certain technique to make it, and many small aspects like washing it (how many times, how long, maybe even temperature of the water), the cooking method, water to rice ratio, vinegar amount, how to stir to steam properly, etc. Even when you got this down, it’s hard to keep it being consistent. There’s no chance all sushi places have experts making perfect rice, most of us wouldn’t/don’t feel the difference between perfect sushi rice and any sushi rice. This is why not every single sushi shop needs an expert, many people conform with some sticky rice.
