Cool vid. FYI two things that ppl don't often know about Clairen is that countering something in the air restores a double jump and that her jab actually does cancel into tilts like everyone else's, but it's much slower to do so (jab lag is 18 frames, jab cancel into tilt is frame 15). The thing that I do constantly with her in the first one, is just wavedash jab which pops the opponent up for combos if it hits the tipper but even if it doesn't it's mostly safe on parry depending on distance or even if you wiff the move😅

It stops etalus spikes, maypul seed, Sylvanos seed, Absa cloud, etc etc. A lot of characters set up require some sort of projectile and Clairens main gimmick is saying you have no fun in the no fun zone. She is the anti sauce character, and people think she's cool cause you get "creative" combos even though everyone mostly did the same things lmao

Melee Marth looks immaculate when played skillfully. Clairen's the closest of any successor to such a good design that captures the essence of the archetype founded by Sakurai's choice to adapt a strategy RPG protag into a graceful swordsman with more inspiration from an OVA than the actual games, but even cooler looking because they made their own take on the tipper mechanic, enhanced it, and made downright artful visual flourishes around it. Meanwhile, successive Smash games kept all of Marth's same moves, but had to water them down mechnically due to the games having less intricate movement and free-flowing combos.

GameCube and wired Xbox One are the most popular, but I've seen dozens of controllers over the years. PlayStation and keyboard/boxes are big too. If there's no macros and it can plug&play on PC, it's fair game

Clairen ruined rivals 1. The rock paper scissors mechanic of Parrying, hitting, and baiting was thrown out of the window with her counter since you couldn't jab check it, letting her punish you and giving her stage presence.
