I don't know why but I bought a 50lb granite slab, .0001" flatness, to check blade patterns and maybe for other things. I figured out add some 1-2 micron polishing paste, works great for seeing the pattern perfectly!

This disc does not sharpen. It is a test to check the sharpening I did on the Nebraska Clipper Hone. There is no angle. The Nebraska Blades Hone has a small angle or cone shape rise to the center.

does it really matter about doing up down, figure eight and circle... I usually just do a few figure of eights, is that good enough.. Though im not entirely sure what the rub block tests shows me, i can usually see the faint 'colour' (i know its not colour but i don't know how to describe it either) arch before doing the rub test and then when i do it, it just seems to highlight it a bit better?? is it supposed to do something else?

Thanks Bonika for your videos, quick question (maybe) Would a well sharpened clipper set not have a distinguishable arch? I'm having a hard time getting much of a rub pattern but the clipper blades have been cutting nicely. Could too much pressure cause that? I've tried adjusting the amount of pressure I use and it's still giving me pretty consistent results. I'm using the 16" Nebraska blades CS-201 if that matters.

I have been cutting my hair with clippers since 1997. I had some horrific haircuts in the beginning. WTF is a fade? What's that little knob for? Had no idea. I'd just use no clip on the sides/back and the #1 clip on top. Now I have those .5 clips which makes it easier and I know what a fade is. I was sick of buying blades recently so I bought a $10 stone on amazon, dug out my crusty original Wahl blades and I just added oil and started rubbing in no particular manner. The stone is like a black hole for oil so had to keep adding. Later I cut my hair and it was so amazing. It was better than when the $200 Wahl clippers were brand new. I could shave a wooly mammoth in 30 seconds flat. I was even using just the side of the stone to really go after the blades, probably all crooked, but it worked.
