@@kjellman96 So you eat nothing but meat? Like noting else? No spices or garnish or grains? Because if you do then you can't say "It works both ways" because you are not a carnivore. You are flavoring your meat with plants to make it taste good. Think about that...

I LOVE the fact that the Economist is talking about this! This wouldn't have been possible 20 years ago. Things are changing and people are waking up. I have been vegan for 4 years and vegetarian for 20 years. The last 4 years have been the healthiest years of my life. Anyone can do it. Any little step help, even reducing your animal protein consumption to say once a week helps! People are afraid of change but change can lead to amazing things. #govegan

Depressed plant- supply and demand would take care of that. Animals are grown and born due to demand. If less people ate animals, less female animals would be raped to reproduce. The more people pay for meat, that money pays the person to do this. Rape and killing animals is made possible by the person who pays for meat/eggs/dairy/fish products. Less animals products bought less animals.

@@MM54334 Where's the bullshit? Cows are repeatedly impregnated through artificial insemination to produce milk. Milk isn't good for you. When your body processes the calcium in milk it needs to leach calcium from your bones. Those who consume the most milk have the highest bone fracture rates. Milk also increases the likelihood of prostate/ovarian cancer while being full of cholesterol and saturated fats. Not to mention that 65% of humans are lactose intolerant so it's already bad for most humans off the bat.

I had a very heated argument with a Vegan couple of years back, almost a physical fight, never spoke or saw that person again but that led me to watch Gary Yourofsky's greatest speech and I who once was killing animals(cows, goats, lambs) every year on a Islamic ritual(Eid ul Adha) and my whole family became Vegan with in days. It's the greatest decision I have ever taken in my life, we still eat the same pakistani style food but everything's vegan now, the only regret is if someone had criticised me for my choices earlier and I would have become Vegan much earlier and the cries, screams, tears and pain in the last moments of animals I killed, still haunt me to this day :(

The negative impact of vegetative agri per capita is very very less compared to high neg. impact per capita of beef agri. uWu Carbon is a non-starter. The planet is going to get hotter, there's nothing we can do about that now (significant evidence points to the idea that we really had very little control over the fact of global warming, merely its degree). "Carbon footprint" is kind of a silly concept on the level of the individual; you don't choose how your power is produced, how your goods are shipped, or how your food is grown.

Can you post back in 5 years? Veganism usually takes about 7-8 years (depending on how much fat you had on your body to begin with) before it becomes unsustainable. Oh, and you may want to start saving up for new teeth. A diet consisting mainly of sugar will wreak havoc on your dental hygiene. When you do go back to a diet with animal products (even just milk and eggs), make sure you go organic and fresh. None of the factory produced shit. You can expect then to live a long life, although it will likely be shortened if you spend too long on the vegan diet. I pity you if you live in the USA. The general quality of meat over there is appallingly bad, although there are exceptions. Your government is literally trying to kill you. For anybody reading this: Eat locally produced, organic food. Include fresh meat and in-season fruit in your diet. Eat more organs, like liver and kidneys (ONLY from healthy animals). Highly nutritious. You follow this diet and cut out processed foods, you're going to be very healthy for all your life. Mental health is also just as important. The human body is really, really good at surviving. That's why vegan diets and sometimes vegetarian diets don't straight up kill you the moment you start. Your body will do anything and everything it can to continue surviving.

Veganism faces negativity because lots of vegans make asses out of themselves. The cold truth is that more people than not eat meat, so just saying they shouldn't eat meat at all is a bad approach, we should try to convince people to reduce meat consumption even if its only by 1/3, anything is a start when people just flat out reject the premise of veganism/vegetarianism most of the time.

Jared Lapierre Most vegans are not asses XD. There are actually millions of vegans, most just don’t label themselves or don’t do activism. I find that most of the negativity comes from people being threatened when we suggest that their way of life is harmful, which it is. I try to be as respectful as I can, and I often build a report by telling people how I used to call myself a carnivore and rip into steaks and sashimi before I finally made the transition to veganism for environmental reasons. Only then did I see the horrors of the animal agriculture industry and come to understand the cognitive dissonance that I used to have and that everyone who consumes animal products has.

I think real problem is we have forgotten moderation.. Anything in access is dangerous, even water.. The holy amrit we get in temples as prasad is only consumed as one spoon.. We cant consume whole glass of it.. We are abusing mother nature just for our selfish needs.. Big cars, big mansions, insta induced luxury, everything air-conditioned, large work hours, less sleep, less social time, less personal time, less tolerance to discomfort, wasting limited resources, etc, etc, etc. We talk way more more about sustainability and sustainable development then take steps equally. We are consuming everything in access and abusing nature every now and then. We are all trained machines controlled by govts through tv channels and internet blogs vlogs, trained to be stupid at brains and consume more for industries to make huge turnovers and profits, part of which is paid to govt officials. Think about it and and then try thinking how we can bring change in the mindsets..

@@tejusraj2901 There actually IS enough food in India to feed everyone, it's not starvation, it's malnutrition, which is different. Sub-Saharan African children eat grass & leaves because they're starving & it at least makes them feel full, even if it gives them no calories. Indians feed the waste from silk production (the high energy, high protein pupeas) to their herbivore cows so as to dispose of them without them rotting & leading to fly & disease issues because it's against their religion to eat them themselves & fix the malnutrition issues in the same way the other large silk producing country of China did. Their malnutrition is similar to in countries like America where there is fast food induced malnutrition due to lifestyle choices, so you could just as easily ask why poor & time poor people in America produce children when they're not willing to give them the wholesome, nutritious diet they need for best development & can't afford proper health care or education for their children. Indian kids aren't "hungry" any more than American kids are. It's just a lack of required vitamins & minerals - b12, iron etc

If the demand for vegetables and fruits grow, naturally producers will try to increase production. I love this! Very informative and straight-to-the-point with factual statements. This video explains perfectly how a global shift towards veganism would benefit animals, our health, and the environment. Thank you for this! 🙏🏾👏🏾

I've been vegan for 3 years now and it was the best decision I ever made! Lost weight, improved digestion, and feel so much better knowing that I'm doing the least harm possible to animals and the environment 🌍🐷🐄🐐🐳🐓

This was the largest study of it's kind. All the details can be read in the full study. Link on my channel under "About." "Eating a vegan diet could be the “single biggest way” to reduce your environmental impact on earth, a new study suggests. Researchers at the University of Oxford found that cutting meat and dairy products from your diet could reduce an individual's carbon footprint from food by up to 73 per cent.Sep 24, 2020"
