Another weakness not mentioned a lot is that his handles in crowded areas is below average for an nba point guard, mostly because of his height making it hard to dribble through traffic. He reminds me of players at the gym that have one speed and no shot, forcing majority of his plays into assists when he’s unable to pump the breaks going downhill.

In lots of the clips where Lonzo falls forward when he should be pulling up, he gets his own rebound. I see this as a kind of advantage when a guard can rebound and come up with loose balls like Lonzo can. I'd rather he develop this floater/runner game. Also, Lakers run Lonzo off picks to the right way too often, when he's way bigger of a threat going to the left so he can do that step back 3 and pull up more easily.
@ScarzChosenspokesmen6 жыл бұрын

Agreed. Lonzo is no threat to pop off screens going right because his shot mechanics make it impossible. He can only drive.
@borood11886 жыл бұрын
Leaving him wide open is the best defense. It's a sure brick and easy rebound, because it's always an airball or a flat glass board
@anderslarsen40076 жыл бұрын
Improving his short range finishing will require skill work, but it is just as much physical inability. He is not strong enough in his core to balance himself, take contact and finish, stop, stop and go. I think the biggest thing for him is a full summer of pro level physical training (like Randle had last summer), that will make all these things easier. Thank you for the great video.
@LetsBuildThatApp6 жыл бұрын
I don't understand how its possible to enter the NBA in 2018 without possessing some good guard fundamentals: - Reliable floater to go over bigs - Midrange pull up to make bigs respect your space - Simple layups going almost full speed I see high school students working on these things constantly. It's strange to see the #2 pick possess none of this.
@kanobriggs22686 жыл бұрын
And this is exactly why he’s going to be special. He literally dominated every level he played at without any of those with simply excelling in what he’s really good at (playing in transition, pace and moving off the ball) and utilizing his high basketball IQ,passing, and shooting. He has so much room to grow fundamentally and his shot form might limit his ceiling in certain fundamental skills but not as much as people think. He affects the game in so many areas the casual fan could never comprehend.

He's afraid to finish near the rim, and typically only takes 1 or 2 shots per game that are not behind the arc (zero such shots this last game). His shots behind the arc are not worrying the defense. He doesn't get to the free throw line, and is not comfortable there anyway. He doesn't pass well off the dribble (except the long lead pass), but does pass well when moving the ball around the court from a standing position. He overcommits on defense and pays the price, often losing his man afterwards. He also can't stop a quick point guard from driving past him. He doesn't block out on rebounds, and has been dunked over from behind on several occasions.

Faizal Setiawan that's why you can't judge lonzo on this season last yr Ingram made the same mistakes only avg 9 ppg so he just need time
@thechad78036 жыл бұрын
Kijan99 I just don’t understand how you can watch Lonzo and see NBA talent. I don’t see it. There’s huge holes in his game that Ingram and frankly most of the rest of the NBA don’t have. It’s not about “He’s just missing shots or Rookie mistakes” He has no mid range game, no driving ability and can’t shoot FROM ANYWHERE! If you want your PG to be a decent rebounder who can make the occasional nice pass then he’s your man but these other issues aren’t easily fixable.Those aren’t just things that magically fix themselves over time. Time to wake up. The kid isn’t NBA level. Move on
@dvo12456 жыл бұрын
Kijan99 * disagree, Ingram took the coaches advice about contact @ the rim & started incorporating it immediately last season & when I say immediately, it was the very 1st game after Magic suggested it 2 him... Zo is having trouble taking advice, I'm guessing cuz his Dad tells him not 2!!!

Lonzo needs to fix his free-throw shooting. It's the easiest thing to fix and it's free points. All this other stuff is secondary in my mind because it will take time.

But then he'll need to be more aggressive to get to the free throw line. Right now his usual stat line is only one trip to the free throw line, where he makes 1 of 2.

LFR: another great video bro - keep doing your thing 👍🏽 I'm not a Laker fan, so I'm aware that I'm willing to say things (rightly or wrongly) that Laker Nation may not like. Here's one of them - and I could be wrong: I remember looking at Zo's UCLA film before the draft and thinking, "This guy's gonna struggle in half court offense." Why? Okay: first there's the belabored point about his telegraphed shot motion and his difficulty pulling up or stepping back off of his right-handed dribble. Everyone saw that. But my concern is chiefly about his athletic ability. To say something nice about that: he has decent straight line speed, and, with momentum, he's a decent (even good leaper) off his left leg. But he has poor balance, poor stop start, poor ability to shift through speeds. So I'm saying that I'm not sure whether Zo, as an athlete, could develop into the sort of player who could handle drop coverages without a PnR partner who could hang back to shoot the deep ball. Zo, as an athlete, may not be able to develop the core strength and body control needed to gather and shape with adequate balance to be an NBA-calibre consistent pull up shooter - three point or mid range. Just one guy's view, though. Maybe I'm wrong, and Zo does have other basketball talents that many folks lack. Keep up the great work!!!

Restricted free agent, basically the Lakers can match any offer he's given and bring him back. If they package the Cavs 1st round pick with Deng in a trade they'll clear enough space for 2 max guys and to match Randle up to 18 mil or something like that. That's my ideal situation, although I'd rather not sign LeBron. I don't want people to say he came and saved the Lakers.
