Literally my grandparents tho. They were the worst parents ever to my mom but as soon as i was born they seemed to feel guilty and treated me so well as a way to redeem themselves. I can relate to this statement... SO MUCH, in real life, me, my mother and my brother struggle, and my grandma always have these unrealistic expectations and harsh attitude towards everyone (except for me, but only because in her eyes I'm the youngest while she she's my mother as a useless daughter and my brother as a nobody) Which, I don't mind at all, infact we're lucky to even have a grandmother but what I do mind is when she basically uses these "lessons" as an excuse to just talk down at my brother and mom, sometimes... I just hope she understands that we love her deeply, but she can be a pain in the ass saying how is so easy to get jobs nowadays or how we don't do anything when we clearly do things, is just we have our own problems such as mental and finical problems.

It's really fun seeing the next generation of kids become young adults. Now, this isn't meant to be derogatory, I just remember youtube being full of similar videos in the late 2000s and early 2010s, making similar videos about movies from my own childhood, and if they are still good, or how dark the story actually was. Just celebrated my daughter's 100th day of life. Kids can be a handful, but holy snap does it feel good to see her smile specifically when I come up to see her. I can kind of relate with Gru in that sense of self-worth and satisfaction grows when you realize someone needs you and is happy to see you genuinely. I don't think it's a replacement for bad parents, but doing your best to show affection, love, and care for your own kids can be incredibly rewarding because you have a choice to be the parent you wanted. Seeing them experience life with awe and discovering new things that once seemed mundane to you is a beautiful thing, especially when you help them develop the way you would have wanted as well. It's one reason I've noticed why those with toxic childhoods tend to either continue the toxicity or have the capacity to completely 180 it and become really good parents, especially if they've taken the time to really sort through their childhood traumas and understand what they needed. TLDR; Gru chose to take his childhood trauma and 180 it to become an great dad and really find happiness that way.
