I always wondered too. I mean, buying one luxury bag while saving for several months, ok I understand, but how do so many "young women" in their twenties, barely finished studying, manage to have so many Birkins, Kellys, Chanels, etc. ? Gosh these are 10-15K bags!!! This makes me question myself*, being in my mid-thirties 😂😂 (*Not!!). Great video!

The amount of people unboxing berkins other extremely expensive bags on here is ridiculous. They are obviously fake and that’s FINE, but it’s the faking that I think is crazy. They are unknowingly encouraging people to go and give these luxury brands more money. They are buying fake and working for free as a marketer for luxury brands.

I think there are a few explanations for how people afford to buy expensive bags so frequently- 1. They don’t! In other words, they buy fake 2. They buy, unbox, film and return 3. They go into massive debt to afford these bags (this is a lot more common than we think) 4. They have rich parents or partners to supplement their own incomes 5. They literally don’t have any other hobbies such as travelling or responsibilities such as kids etc. and/or live off ramen noodles to afford an outwardly luxurious lifestyle 6. They have reached a point where they are gifted luxury goods to review them 7. They possibly resell old bags to afford new ones

@@Ada-fk7qp that’s obviously a category, but those people are in a small minority and that doesn’t make the other categories “untrue”. 🤨🙄We are talking about how people who aren’t super high earners or obvious millionaires seem to be affording new bags every week or month. I think you really suffer low self-esteem when u have to beg a brand to take ur money. It's a total turn-off. I would never jump through hoops or belittle myself to reach quotas to buy a purse! There's too many designers out there who would be happy to take your money, who appreciate their customers. Besides, style cannot be bought. It comes from within! Being chic doesn't come from the price tag of the bag. It's a way of carrying yourself. I can be chic & stylish without spending thousands on a purse

I watch their videos, but lately have thought 💭 why would anyone want or buy that many bags -especially canvas? I have about 10 (5 too many) I think it’s an addiction to outshine their competitors on KZbin, but one day they will realize it’s a losing game and you’re stuck with all that “stuff”

I wonder to myself about people buying multiple bags every month too! 🤔 One more scenario that’s worth mentioning are the people who have huge authentic collections (and aren’t wealthy) that have been collecting for decades. Yes they have a lot, but over the course of many many years.

This is the reason I prefer or rather buy a contemporary bags, firstly, I can afford it and not horrendously expensive, secondly, the quality is the same if not, so much better, thirdly, it's not going to hurt me that much if I damaged the bag, not that I want that to happen, forthly, I cannot afford a designer bag 😅 lastly, I buy something because I want it and keep it. I don't mind people being honest buying a replica or fake ones, at least your being honest about it and not pretending.😊 Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year Michelle. Great video ❤

You are so right about people not caring about your handbag, as a person who buys only Louis Vuitton I can assure you that nobody cares about your bag, I started buying super fakes and the reaction was the same, nobody cares it’s just a bag. And yes plenty of rich people buy fakes, who’s buying an all leather purse for 5k with a “subtle logo”? You can get a great leather bag for a way much affordable price, it’s the brand that we as consumers buy, the quality in some of these fashion houses has gone down they always come out with a new bag every week and the price keeps going up. Sorry but fakes are the new thing and I know for a damn that plenty of people own them and nobody cares. Fashion is fashion and style is style. You don’t need to spend 5k on a bag to look expensive, only wannabes do that.

I have been buying for over 20 years, long before KZbin existed. All of my bags are authentic. I don’t exclusively buy luxury bags. As someone with a good job, no kids and little overhead, I can afford to buy a few bags a year, whether new or preloved. But no way could I afford to do that once a month. There are quite a few KZbinrs I have been wondering about, especially younger ones, who have massive collections and seem to in no way have the income to afford even one bag a year.

Ladies get real. Some people are trust fund babies, receive a large inheritance, or perhaps have a healthy financial portfolio that allows them a high dollar, disposable, yearly income. Look at all the Yacht’s around the world. Men spend enormous amounts of money on their “collections”. Just because a woman chooses handbags as her collection of choice doesn’t make her a crook or ingenuous. Sit back and enjoy the show! If it makes you envious, that’s your problem.

Glad you make this kind of videos Michelle! I do question some of the KZbinrs I follow. Especially the ones who do not explain how they’re able to afford the luxury bags. No need to go into details. Like, heyjune for example. Someone asked her, and she said she’s a doctor. She has no kids too.. so it makes sense. But some are shady. They don’t get VIP gifts nor invited to the exclusive events, yet they unbox luxury bags relentlessly from the same brand.

I always get really confused when I see online shops with considerable stock of luxury brands, like Hermès. We all know that in real life you need to get to a queue for a purchase of iconic pieces, so how these shops get so many brand new items at the same time, with multiple colors or sizes? And how people invest so much money on possibly fake items just to pretend they're part of a group... exact the same group that would recognize a fake (?)

Everything stems from the wealth effect, especially in Asia. Over the past decade, property appreciation has made many luxury goods no longer seem luxurious. In China and Hong Kong, if you own more than two houses, the money generated is enough to buy many bags without having to think twice.

I have a friend who buys 4-5 pcs of luxury bags a year. She got one room full of these expensive bags. I dont consider bags as an investment. So far i only have 3 luxury bags in my life. LV, D&G and Chloe. The last one I bought from my Crypto gains. I prefer buying gold and silver coins and bars. Crypto is a better choice of investment than bags.
