As an INFJ I've always accepted everyone for who they are. Yes, I put myself in other people's shoes and while doing that I think well... this is what I would do but I can't judge someone else because they are who they are and thier mind works differently. So, maybe I'm arrogant saying I understand people but it's really just knowing I don't understand them is how I understand them. I hope that makes sense.

I'm an ISFJ married to an INFJ, and your comment makes perfect sense. It might not, however, if I had not become familiar with and read books about The Four Agreements, ancient Toltec wisdom. Don Miguel Ruiz wrote several that are very readable and thought provoking.

Please make an episode about shadow focused INFJs 🙏 By the way you are doing the right thing when you are telling us the true - even if you're a pragmatic. It's just that you use your Ti incredibly responsibly and I appreciate it a lot! Nobody has ever given me such accurate advices. I understand myself much better now! Thank you, Chase!

I could literally write a thousand comments on your videos. I think one reason why INFJ'S are so intrigued by this is because we want to understand people even moreso than we already do. I'm not arrogant in thinking I understand people but I am arrogant with my ability to be so willing to try and understand others and to accept others more so than anyone else I've encountered in life (minus my twin sister, also INFJ). I often find myself sticking up and defending certain things people do and become a voice for groups less fortunate to people who have no clue but judge and belittle these people. I point out things and say things to make others see what I am able to. This is where I'm arrogant, I WANT to understand. I feel like it's my duty to point out what others are so ungodly oblivious to and is crystal clear to me. I say the things that everyone else conveinently leaves out (or so I feel they do). I'm now starting to realize they really just can't see it. I literally came up with a term for this. I call myself an Oblivion Outsider.

Thanks for the video Chase. This video definitely helped me verify that I'm an INFJ (I've been doubting for a while. It's not that INFJ did not fit me, I just wanted to find out to see if there are others types that fit me better and there really isn't). I also knew this information already as this is probably my 3rd or 4th time watching this video, but for some reason, I got the AHA moment this time around. What really got me was when you explained how INFJs needs these in order (Loyalty, Words of Affirmation, and then Quality Time.) It reminded me of the 5 Languages of Love and it really blew my mind because those 3 were exactly my top needs. Thanks for making me realize that the people I used to surround myself with were wrong and that it's okay (or normal) to ask for words of affirmation often. They made it seem like me asking for these things meant it was because I didn't trust them enough when it's actually not true.

I am also an INFJ. Just as Amanda said below, I understand people because I know I don't understand them. I am "aware" that everyone is made differently and has been through different lives. Being aware and accepting the fact that they are different from me helps me to accept them for who they are and to be able to love them for who they are. I will never be able to understand another person to the depth I want to (I really desire to understand other people with the greatest depth- but I can't because I'm not God LOL), but what I can do is to accept them unconditionally. And this is the best I can do. If I can't understand them as God does, what I can do is to just accept them for who they are- which is the BEST thing I can do as a limited human being. A healthy INFJ will realize this- and instead of judging other people & enforcing their own values upon other people, they will be able to understand other people(by being aware that we will never truly understand them) and to truly accept them for who they are. As an INFJ- yes. I want change. I see things in society that needs to be changed. I am not happy with a lot of the things that I see. However, I have learned that change cannot be forced. I have learned that change starts with awareness and acceptance. CHANGE always starts from here. We can never "force" change. "Forcing" change will cause an unhealthy society. Because some people may not want change- and those people will be unhappy as a result of the forced change. Thus true change always starts from accepting others unconditionally. This is where everything begins.

Frickin awesome video man. Love your neighbor as YOURSELF. We have to love ourselves!!! I don't let anyone talk to me in a way that I wouldn't talk to myself. Also, I can see an ESTP come out of me sometimes. Sometimes I just need to enforce and speak the truth no matter how much it hurts. I've backed away from that before because I've hurt people by speaking truth. I'm working on it. I feel like MLK brought out the ESTP side a lot, probably because he knew who he was and he wasn't gonna let someone else define him. An INFJ who knows who he or she is is fricking POWERFUL. The world needs healthier people. Love yourself. Excellent video.

Great video, your passion comes out and it is so genuine and refreshing! i always always learn something that blows my mind when i watch. My long time best friend is an ISFJ and i have really learned so much from him, i really respect and admire the self discipline which is at a superhero level, i call him batman because essentially what makes batman a superhero is his insane level of self discipline! He also has taught me how to look at myself honestly, even when it isn't pretty, how to take criticism and use it in a positive way, to challenge myself in ways that have been very hard for me and keep trying and never give up. I also have learned how to speak up for myself because of him, i am not afraid of people not liking me or saying things that might make people uncomfortable anymore. Of course saying something is always a pick your battle situation because if i am going to do or say something i know someone wont like, it is with the knowledge and intent of doing good and going in a positive direction with it and never to just cause harm or hurt someone. Something positive has to come out of it, the intention being to do more good than harm. I do not know where i would be without my ISFJ, as unlikely a pairing as it is, he has had the single most powerful influence on me in my life. I love my ISFJ

Best video I've seen for both ISFJ & INFJ. The video help me understand them both. But it is crazy because I took the 16 Personality MBTI test and my result was ISFJ but I also identify half of INFJ as well. Everything to my I, F, and J is over 60% - 80% but my S and N is like 50/50 being my intuitive 42% while my Observant is 58%. It like I do half of both almost equally and not fully like the others. I'm neat and organized like a ISFJ but I have terrible memory and quick to forget. I'm always thinking and planning to improve myself but not all action unless I decide to just focus on the task when I start my day. Almost each of the things said for both of them in the video can describe me and some for them can't. The description make me feel more ISFJ than INFJ though but the traits mention and behavior of some INFJ also feels similar to my behavior as well. The test I've taken days ago made me dig much more deeper into MBTI and their function. That is probably how I will figure it out. Ever since then I've been researching about it everyday.

Te trickster is so annoying because someone will say their thoughts to me and occasionally I don't even hear it because I'm focused on something else or I just spaced out, then I say exactly what they say because I thought of it too, which then they say "I literally just said that" and now I suddenly feel guilty that I might make them feel that I'm talking down to them and trying fake superiority when I'm not I truly just didn't hear what you said and didn't mean to come off that way, I always try to apologize and explain ASAP when that happens. Anyways, nail on the head there..

I can’t remember which podcast of yours I heard this theory in but I’ll just use this related video to comment about it. The theory about parents liking the child that reflects their subconscious/who they (the parents) want to become themselves is scarily accurate. I need to do more people watching to totally confirm the theory for myself but I know an ISFJ mother that obviously favors her ENTP son and it’s mind-blowing that there’s that tangible of a connection/reason that she favors him over the other two, even her ISFJ daughter. Also, this ENTP guy has a similar fashion style, haircut, and facial expressions when compared to yours? Creepy connections.

Also, it's funny because when I first started researching this I was trying to make sense of all of it and how it is relevant to me, and this is what I came up with: As a human race it all starts within and until we all learn to fully understand, accept, and love who we are and our role in life we will fail, all of us. You must love yourself before you can accurately do what you were meant to do. We need to love ourselves in order to be able to understand, accept and love others too. This is the key to the success of mankind and what you're doing is giving people the tools they need to accomplish that. So, for that I thank you C.S Joseph PS :. Why don't they have a LOVE button for your videos cuz I more than just like them

@@CSJoseph Well, that's a much shorter and just as effective way to say it. It's crazy because I get so excited about this stuff and so deep into it. I also remember (this was before I watched your INFJ vs INFP video) putting things together in my head and thinking the INFJ and INFP were in the wrong spots and they should be flipped. I don't know how I came to that conclusion, I just did and then when I saw your theory about how the J is really more P and vica versa it was a glorifying moment because it reinforced and validated the idea I came up with on my own. I get what you're saying....about INFJs not necessarily understanding why someone feels the way they feel because we have a sort of blind spot in terms of we can step into the person's shoes and observe them like for example I can understand, say for example a serial killer's impulses but I personally don't wish to do the exact same things myself. However, I guess my issue is that I'm constantly trying to be fair and sort of expect others to do the same thing. So, I'm learning to stop expecting others to see things the same way I do. However, if someone's unfairness is abusive to me is when I put my proverbial foot down. My philosophy basically is "do what you will unless you don't step on someone else's toes". I mean there are people's opinions that I don't give a fuck about especially if I don't need them.. maybe that's bad, but that's me. My mom, btw is also an ISFJ and she's just that, constantly worrying about "doing the right thing" ALL the time. I worry about "doing the right thing" at work, at home, other people can go fuck themselves. And no, I don't think I'm the "most unselfish person in the whole world" lol.

I completely totally crazily love my ISFJ since 12 years I am an INFJ. ISFJs are hardworking and genuine people they are your rock solid and they do not need constant ego boost to function in life they enjoy simple things like INFJs. The reason we keep ourselves aloof in life is the superficiality of people which we hate the most. We need and are extremely happy with one true genuine relationship with the one who understands us on emotional physical mental every level which is extremely rare.

Boy are you on the mark with the INFJ wanting to give a good experience. This can be very problematic for those who don't understand type. I can't tell you how many times in my life I've had people say to me "Jesus Liz, if you're this insane/possess these crazy standards about how you speak, look, etc, I can only imagine how you feel about everyone else." And I would feel TERRIBLE, and try to no avail to convince them that I only feel this way about myself, & that I probably think more highly of you than you think of yourself (as INFJs love to find & zero in on the unique beauty within everyone). INFJs are FILLED with seeming contradictions like this. Thank you so much for making this channel so that individuals are better able to elucidate these types of things. When I first heard your video on the INFJ, I'm going to be totally honest: I thought you had met a lot of immature INFJs 😂 But then I started thinking about the way I was at 13-16. All types of people go on KZbin, and it IS important to mention these things! I think arguably the biggest/most crucial piece of advice is to REMOVE THE LOSERS FROM YOUR LIFE. Not exactly for the reason you posit Chase (I can be in a room with whomever, for however long & never lose the sense of who I am & what I stand for--this is why I disagree with you about the INFJ vice in the ability to be corrupted, but anyways) but instead because YOU WILL FEEL THE NEED TO TRY TO FIX THEM. Especially if you have a background in psychology, forget it, you're in a great deal of danger lol. When I was obtaining my Master's I met an ENTP with almost boundless intellectual potential, but who was a mess. If I didn't get out of that when I did, it would've been trouble & supremely unfair to the both of us. He needed to get his shit together ON HIS OWN. Please INFJs, I don't care how capable you are: you are not immune. Chase is right--ditch the losers!!👍 **Edit: had no idea how long this was until I posted it, my apologies. TL;DR lose the losers.

As an INFJ who has an ISFJ "significant other" of several years - I do note the similarities. However, I highlight the differences too - which can be sharp dividing points at times. One obviously might believe that it is just the Ni vs. Si Hero differences, but can the Inferior Ne and Se differences be so significant between the two that they cause just as much division as the Hero functions? Thanks for these videos! I have been watching a good chunk your videos for weeks now, and taking literal handwritten notes, (plan to watch them all). Apparently I may be an ISFJ after believing I was INFJ. The thing is, I had some life changing experiences that caused me to change my ISFJ ways, and so it's hard to relate to the ISFJ characteristics now. But when I look at the past, ISFJ is how I was growing up in a very restrictive and sheltered environment. It's extremely hard to live in today's world staying very ISFJ, so I feel like a lot of them think they're INFJ because they've had to grow up and change so much that they don't relate to ISFJ (like me). I'm so glad I had the chance to evolve from how I was and have almost and aversion to the way I was as an ISFJ. But I'm also trying to embrace that as a part of myself and appreciate the journey and where I came from. Does that make sense? What are your thoughts on how early someone can be typed. Can you tell type in childhood?

This is an awesome video. As an INFJ with an ISFJ roommate this was interesting to watch, but what's even funnier is I learned something new about me and how I am in relationships. The most profound relationships I have had so far in life were with ENTPs, ENFPs, and ESTJs (this one always surprises people, but after watching your compatibility video I know it won't be a surpise to you lol). All Si users. Outsiders looking in on these relationships used to say things similar to "You're the one always going out of your way to please them, care for their needs, inspire and encourage them, but what do they do for you?". Honestly, they gave me everything I ever wanted just through that recognition. The ENTP and ENFP constantly reminded me how at ease they felt around me, how I grounded them, how they felt like they had someone who truly understood them and that lit me up 1000x more than a bouquet of flowers ever would. They really did keep track of all the little things I easily forgot about and were able to pull them out in milliseconds on even the darkest of days. Mmmm. Love me some Ne-Si users!

11:10 about wanting(Si) and wanting(Ni) there's a tedtalk "Inside the mind of a master procrastinator" and the presenter said: "You know I always wanted to do a Ted talk. Not actually do one, but be able to say: ' I did a tedtalk, once' " , imo it's a good example of wanting(Si) . Also imo wanting(Ni) is more about 'you know I want to become a *insert profession/social class/anything*' cause they can see/seamlessly see themselves in that situation in the future(like my friend always envisions himself as a person who acheived economic prestige and manipulates the environment(especially himself) to achieve success. I mean for instance I want to check out how good my acting skills are by once playing a person of the opposite gender(yes I know it is an odd want) , which means I want to expierience it once, sl it's more of an (Si) want . Dang just gave off an odd thing, well since it's a social moratorium idc.

Thank you for this video; I’ve been looking forward to it and was not disappointed! I’m pretty sure I’m an INFJ after spending almost a year studying the cognitive functions. But I feel somewhat similar to an ISFJ because I value tradition but at the same time am future-oriented. I also tend to lean more towards the right when it comes to political issues. Is it possible to be an INFJ and value tradition? I used to go to church for several years and just quit abruptly after witnessing some hypocritical behaviors and am now anti-religion. I (very vaguely) remember taking the MBTI in high school and I grew up in a family of extraverted sensors so I think my score was ISFJ. I think maybe I had learned to suppress my intuition by this time (this was a good 20-25 years ago, BTW.) That was the only time I took the actual test aside from the crappy Internet impostors😂. So I was just wondering if I could be an INFJ masquerading as an ISFJ that whole time. I’m not good at remembering things like what someone else was wearing in detail on a certain day; I’m actually pretty terrible at it. I’ll be like, “uuhhh, he was wearing a white shirt...I think.” After taking several online tests and really delving into the cognitive functions (of several of the types) of INFJ it just fits. Especially the “rare” part because I had felt different growing up but didn’t know why.

honestly everytime i meet friends friends, they already know a lot about me, while i barely know their name... sometimes it feels like i am a bragging right for my friends, because they think i am that good and they need to tell other people about me... which i would not say so myself. i guess when i desire it i can be good at it or when my Se inferior kicks so i don't disappoint them when they rely on me. Most of the time i am alone, because than i can do what i wanna do. As soon as people are involved i start making compromises... once i asked a bus driver something but i had to repeat myself 3-4 times because my voice was that quiet. Sometimes i think my voice has a normal talking volume when i am annoyed. when i haven't spent any time with some specific people, i start to think they don't like/want me anymore or i gave them a bad experience the last time When i help someone and i dont know if they already checked the obvious, i will ask them if they already checked that. This way at least, doesnt trigger that many people, because it doenst attack their intelligenz :D

Great lecture Chase! Before starting this comment, as per your suggestion, engaging my Te trickster: have you thought about this? what do you think about this? Regarding doing what works vs. doing whats right, you contrasted doing what works with doing what is right as if they are different things. But assuming, 1) doing what is right consists of doing what is morally good, which is based on truth and 2) doing what works means doing what is beneficial and efficient, Then that would actually mean that doing what works is based on doing what is right because doing what is right is doing what is morally good, and what is morally good is based on truth, and what is true is what is beneficial and efficient. But if doing what works means 'doing what works in this world', then that would indeed be different than doing what is right because the way this world works focuses more on the end result than the way it is achieved. So why bother doing what is right, what is morally good, anyway if 'doing what works in this world' gets the results? Jesus said, "26 For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?" (Mark 16:26) Doing what is right consists of doing what works for the good of our souls, because 'doing what works in this world' is not actually beneficial beyond the mere observable pleasures and achievements of the present physical existence which is temporary (2 Corinthians 4:18). **My intention is not to get "churchy", however, when speaking about truth, it is necessary to speak about God because God is truth (John 14:6). ***Yes I am an INFJ. Lol.

people trying to do the right thing since they are affiliative does not actually mean its the right thing for real.
@aoiojmnz
@aoiojmnz 5 жыл бұрын
@@CSJoseph I agree, but it goes both ways. Pragmatics trying to do what works does not actually mean that what they are doing is what truly works. So then since we are all humans that can be wrong in what we think is right and what we think works, where do you think that leaves us? I think that well, obviously, some people don't care about what is actually true, a lot of people just want to stay believing and doing what is comfortable. But for people that are sincerely interested in truth, and hence doing what is right and what works based on what they think to be true, I think that really we ought not to rely on our own understanding because inherently, as imperfect humans, we can't possibly absolutely know what is right and what works; there are way too many variables. Don't you think? I am not saying we shouldn't learn and develop our reasoning and understanding, but I am saying that in order to arrive at what is truly right and what truly works, we should look beyond our own minds and realize that there is a greater understanding out there. I respect the work of Nikola Tesla and I find this quote of his very relevant, “My brain is only a receiver, in the Universe there is a core from which we obtain knowledge, strength and inspiration. I have not penetrated into the secrets of this core, but I know that it exists.” Personally, I interpret all of this by realizing that I have no idea what works and I have no idea what is right based on my own understanding, but when I let my guard down and stop trying to penetrate the secrets of 'the core' of knowledge and truth and life, and rather let my guard down and allow 'the core' pour His understanding into my heart and mind, then it is no longer me knowing, but Him that knows, and it is no longer a philosophical musing, but an experience that lives on every day. Think of all of this what you will, and I know I don't have to say that because you are going to do that anyway. But hey my Se inferior wants you to have a good experience finishing reading this wall of text. I believe the core to be God/Jesus/Holy Spirit and can genuinely attest to being a life changing relationship. There are other options out there but they are not good or true. Anyways, from the sounds of it, I think like your mom. Haha. Have a great week.

so interesting! and thank you - I have noticed an ISFPs eye for detail and artistic transformations with landscapes. I typed my brother as ISFP. They capture people's emotions/expressions well also in their art. I noticed they are artistic in their clothing and can turn any material into something to wear if they wanted to. I remember he fashioned a rubber trench coat out of bicycle tires that was so kick-butt matrix style and I have never seen him sew a thing in his life before that. I'm sure your ISFP could have recreated the knots and gnarls! I appreciate their art also. ISFPs can get very symbolic with the meaning of the knots and gnarls though. I don't think I mistyped my brother - he has a very calm demeanor. I have noticed that INFJs online are artists and similar in self expression, which made me curious. Unfortunately, I don't know any INFJs personally. I definitely appreciate the thought provoking metaphors INFJs offer as much as I appreciate an ISFPs art. If I would have seen that knotty and gnarled tree, I would have wondered how it got that way..and probably would have talked to it. haha

You said that NTs think that if they're going to do the time they may as well do the crime. I don't really get that. I mean, maybe. It's the equivalent of saying that if someone thinks that I am a particular way, I may as well be that way. As an INTJ, there's no way on this earth that I would allow someone else to define me like that. I am who I am and screw them if they don't agree (while simultaneously making sure they aren't right). Is that time/crime assessment an ENTP thing? An NT thing that I have a different perspective of? What's it about?
