I do this thing where I'll leave an absurdly out of place object in the middle of the floor or somewhere where I'll practically trip over it as a reminder... like maybe I need to remember to make a phone call but I don't have time at the exact moment so I could leave a bottle of lotion on the stairs, and when I see it later I'll be like "oh yeah I have to make that phone call." I’m an ISTJ and I’ve found that as I’ve gotten older, it’s a relief to not care as much as to whether I’m right or know more or teach someone something. I think I’m just more comfortable with myself. I’m also more aware of how annoying this behavior is to others. I’m always amazed at small facts that come to light, eg some historical fact, and I used to think everyone was fascinated like I was and would tell everyone. Now, I just keep it to myself and concentrate on how the person I’m talking to feels or is interested in.

@@loverofbeautifulthings Ironically enough, the Si users often level up as they age while Ni users brains dissolve as they grow older like in 50s+ Si users are the wisest when they are old, while Ni users are the brightest when young. Both have its pros and cons. It's something really fascinating to think about, that the brain of Ni users just deteriorates as they grow old and rapidly so when really old, like they slowly lose consciousness even tho they are here and present, this goes the same for ideas and knowledge and experiences they gained all the years they've lived and cherished, fades away into a mindless, numb being. Then I said, "Ice cream or reeses." She actually bought me both which was cool I told my mom about this and she said, "Why can't you just do favors for people? You're so selfish." I just laughed, I said "You take things from old people(she works in a senior community." Older people offer things to her and she does take them. My mom said, "I work for them." I said, "I worked for Sarah(the roommate) take care of her snake." It's like my mom is designed to complain. She can complain about anything. We argue all the time, but we don't get mad at eachother. I still give her hugs, talk to her, and things are cool. I think in asense, we both like bitching in our own way. We don't take it personal.

For intjs, it's their will. Once they decide it that it's what they want. It will be accomplished at the highest performance possible no matter the sacrafice(which they often sacrafice their whole being into that one single thing to a point which there's only time for improvement and nothing else and if others get in their way of that "life purpose" that they've set and decided for themselves, they are often the least courteous about it. Istjs on the other hand, their sheer endurance is godlike. They will read a paper 100x and over and over and over again again and again non stop no rest. The only difference is that they will exceed all expectations only when he knows himself what should be done and is expected of him. They will never fail in their life goal of exceeding expectations. It's a super power. You know how an Istj just have a library in their mind, and how they remember everything the very first glance or the very first read? Imagine them reading it and practicing skills x10 more than just the normal once. Their mastery of the subject will be insane and inhuman, only limited by what is or what wasn't on the book, but once they're collected the book into their brain library, it's polished to the max and remembered for eternity quite literally haha

That’s what I don’t like about these sorts of vids, often times I can’t resonate with the lecture since so much doesn’t apply to me, however I’m sure I’m an ISTJ. It’s just a matter of not boxing yourself in. I find it sad that ISTJ’s are boxed in so much in this psychology where as other types are not. INTJ’s are funny? So are we! I’m great at moral support and other things that this psychology would say I’m “bad at”. I’m creative, zen, and talk about ideas a lot. I’m not a robot! It’s sad when I watch ISTJ lectures compared to other type lectures and find it really limited, but it is what it is. As an ISTJ when people ask what I want I typically have no answer. I've formed defaults based on what the question would be but there really isn't much that I want. You mentioned verification and such for ideas. I'm all for original ideas. I can see how someone of my type would be highly against the untested. Given how I grew up I was always being put in a place to think of this idea or that. Then you had to trace the idea back to the source and study and compare. What did I learn? The source isn't always correct. So I view ideas for what they are. If someone comes to me and wants to present an idea to me. We can go over it. If they want to go forward with the Idea then we will test it out. What I'm doing now I'm not in charge i'm like number two. So I'm given an idea. I find a way to make it work. I give the estimated cost. ect. What drives me crazy is that i'm the only person that seems to get anything done. Sure other people work. They do things. But why must I push them to do it?

I also feel we get less distracted when it comes to completing a job ect. We really want to get the job done..and its not for recognition or competing or anything like that. Is that "very good long-term memory" for stuff that fits with a purpose you have, just as with discipline. Our relationship has drastically improved over the last few years and I hadn't quite been able to determine exactly why since we still butt heads sometimes. Now I can focus in on that aspect a little more (and know to have my sources more prepared instead of just discussing things I know/believe). As I continue to watch every single video and research the content, I think it will enable me to make a better future for our family! So I really appreciate what you are doing and support your goals on this channel. Keep up the great job! I'm worried about implementing things I've learned from the subject for fear of screwing it up with the things I still haven't learned though. But I'm on my second notebook already of notes, so I'll get there eventually.

If an ISTJ walks into a room and instantly knows what everybody else is thinking, then wouldn't they also know their intentions?
@hfortenberry4 жыл бұрын
He means "thinking" as in the function, not as in mind-reading everything in their head. INTJ here. We are very good at understanding what someone else is thinking logically speaking because we know all the logic so we recognize which aspect they are referring to.

This is why so many ISTJ’s mistype as INTJ. Everyone that compares them completely idealize INTJ’s and portray ISTJ’s as sheeps. Do you really think people are critical enough of themselves to not mistype when “one is better than the other”?

Se inferior IS dope. I'm an INTP and I love my INTJs too and it really annoys me when people misunderstand and mistreat them. I also really like ISTJs (so much so that I married one but we're divorced bc well....Si haha). I found this information to be very, very accurate as well as insightful and helpful.

Jessica P Hey, could you possibly help out an fellow INTP figure out if her friend is ISTJ or INTJ? She originally tested as an INTJ but somethings have me thinking 🤔...how could you tell the difference between your friends?
@Jess-yv7zc4 жыл бұрын
@@mariap1087 Yes, of course! Both have Te parent, both are often solitary and in my experience, both types are really super smart and interested in current affairs, politics, etc. Both are systematic and these things can make them look similar. Differences: ISTJs often talk of concrete, sensory things: what, who, how, when and where. Details, details! INTJs really come alive when discussing complex, abtract ideas: does time exist or is it a human construct? ISTJs when discussing the "what if" are much more pessamistic and concrete/sensory (WHAT IF my car breaks down? WHAT IF the basement floods?) ISTJs often talk about the past and THEIR impression of it: what they remember, how they behaved etc. They will re-tell the same stories over and over again. INJTs rarely do this; they are almost exclusively focused on the (often distant) future, their goals and how to achieve those goals. Here's a big tell: is your friend often interested in doing/reading/learning things she she sees you doing/hears you talking about/things YOU are enthusiastic about (Se) or would she rather you join her in her favorite topics/activities/passions/subjects (Si)? ISTJs are much more frugal (coupons, spreadsheets for said coupons) and they are really hyper-aware of their environment. INTJs are much more absent-minded with details and concrete things like crumbs on the counter (like us lol). ISTJs are polite and accomodating but in a closer relationship, INTJs will always care greatly about the other person's comfort and experience and far less about their own. ISTJs follow the rules and look to authorities a lot more than INTJs (although INTJs like/respect credentials, degrees/certifications more than INTPs do). INTJs are way more willing to break the rules in order to get something done, although I've seen ISTJs do this too haha. David Kiersey's books (and Stephen Montgomery's--he's basically re-stating Kierey's ideas in less of an INTP way lol; although I quite enjoyed Kiersey's books), Lenore Thomson, Naomi Quenk, Linda Berens, Dario Nardi, the Personality Hacker book and podcast (and of course most of all--Chase's lectures) are all resources that have helped me distinguish between the types, the cognitive functions and the temperaments. Good luck in typing your friend! Thanks for asking!

Great video ! Although I've been wondering for a while : I'm an INTJ woman, and I feel like my Fe trickster mainly make me unaware of other people's feeling or certain social norms, such as swearing in inappropriate places for example, or sometimes saying things that are absolutely awkward while thinking it's actually funny, etc. But because of my Se inferior, I feel like I developed ways to still understand what can and cannot be done in public, and even though sometimes I may appear a little weird (again, unaware of other people feelings so I'm not sure), over all I'm nailing it (which I know because I've got great feedback from people around me). My sister on the other hand is an ISTJ, and I feel that this aspect (how to act in public) is more difficult for her than for me. So yeah, I wonder if Se inferior, combined with Te parent, could compensate for the Fe trickster, in a way that is maybe more difficult for ISTJs that doesn't have Se... Thanks again for this amazing content !!

ISTJs can be really good doctors but not in any field. They are wired to be good radiologists or doctors in nuclear medicine because those professions are for a big part memory based. As their inferior Ne develops in their life, they will also become better in pattern recognition.

Well I'm an INTJ and my father is an ISTJ. its like an eternal chaos and misunderstanding. He kinda hates me for lack of discipline and order. for example He has a pen that is literally from 20 years ago and it is still in the same place XD me? I lose things on a daily basis. He completely ignores ideas and plans of future and never gives a crap about my strategies for him to how invest his money. and his superego? oh well once I was like 12 and we had an argument. I decided to run off from house without telling him. it was like only two hours of being out. then? he decided to not talk with me and my mother for like 3 years :)). I used to hate him but then I got to know that he is all about safety and order. but tickling my demon function all the time and talking about order and discipline? not fun for me at all... From personal experience here I would tell they wont get along together at all. some historical and political debates now and then which is fun for both types but other than that its like a battlefield of suffering. sorry for my English I'm not a native speaker. and thank you Mr Joseph, my beloved ENTP human being. you taught me many things and made me understand other people better.

Jack of all trades, Master of all ?!! Hehe ...But one thing that I can say for sure is the fact that I am not good with keeping up with details over long extended periods of time. I think that is why I keep up (and value) books as well as notes. I don't see it as much as items of keepsakes as much as I see it as more concrete versions of USB drives -- almost like the case of encryption in transformers. As soon as I finish a research or project, I unconsciously do a mental dump. However, should I need to know this information again, all I need to do is read my old notes and it is just like I learned the information yesterday. It is almost as if my 'present' self knows that my 'future' self is not going to remember the information, so I write information for myself to use in the future. It is another reason why I quickly go in my ISFJ demon mode should someone deliberately (or inadvertently) trash my notes.

I love facts, and people call me a walking encyclopedia at times, yet I have a terrible memory for things that do not interest me. I often wonder though, because I feel like a weird amalgamation of ISTJ and INTJ

Having watched this, I am still fairly certain I'm not an ISTJ at least. I don't know if I'm the funniest person, though my ENFP friend will often laugh at my jokes -- she's even able to recognize when I'm being sarcastic, which not everybody is. At workplaces though, sometimes I'd page for mold techs to "Reactivate! Reactivate!" a press in the voice of a Dalek or I'd troll some of the nepotism hires I was told to do the work of by giving them a ketchup packet. When they're like, "what's this about?" I would be like, "I was told you needed to ketchup to the press."

I'm really not sure what I am anymore. I thought I'm INTJ, but some traits of ISTJ fit extremely well. Especially my long term memory is insanely good. I have so many memories from my early childhood and I remember so so many things that I heard or read once. My short term memory however is probably a bit below average. I also am often afraid of new things (especially new experiences), even when nothing can really happen. On the other hand, I'm quite capable of original thought, plus I used to be extremely gullible because I thought "well, it's possible. It could be true". I think I still am a bit. I feel like in the end I'm an INTJ with a very good long term memory, but I'm not sure. One important thing is my Enneagram type. INTJ 1s seem a lot like ISTJs because 1s are very disciplined and want to do what's right. This fact could be the origin of my confusion.
@CSJoseph5 жыл бұрын
sounds ISTJ to me bro. Dont trust tests.
@solar0wind5 жыл бұрын
After I wrote the comment, I watched your affiliative vs pragmatic video. I'm definitely pragmatic. I watched those videos because a friend didn't believe that I'm INTJ, either, but after watching these videos I convinced him that I'm INTJ. Although inf Ne could fit, inf Se fits just as well, if not better. By "don't trust tests" do you mean I shouldn't trust Enneagram? Because that's not a test, but simply another typing method, and I know that I have one of the Enneagram types that look most like ISTJ. Enneagram doesn't say anything about the MBTI type, though, so even though the traits might look like a certain type, it has nothing to do with it. And does the amount of your memories really have something to do with personality? In my opinion, the way I remember things is more important. I remember what happened with which people and what was said. I generally don't remember: clothes, haircuts, hair colour of short-haired people, what a room exactly looked like, and so on. Basically very few details. Also, I'm annoyed with my sister and mum (both Si doms) watching or reading something over and over again because they have positive memories with it. Of course, I watch some series several times as well, but the reasons are usually: I want to show it to another person, I'm waiting for the next season, boredom. Tbh, I feel like I'm INTJ, although there is the possibility I could be wrong. I'm interested in your opinion.

Wow! Only "800 videos to go." You (CS J.) have quite the ambition. I didn't know that ENTPs, such as yourself, had that drive. You are definitely not an ENFP, such as myself, with your long term follow through. As for what you're saying about ISTJs and INTJs, what great information (as usual)! Also, as for that book you mentioned in the beginning of the video, it sounds like a great book. That is, apparently, if one glosses over the information reflective of Keirsey, and focuses more on the quality content. ; ) Very interesting about respecting an INTJs privacy regarding their past, and not triggering them to go after you, for lack of better terminology. That may help to explain my older brother, an INTJ, better. Fortunately, now that we are adults, we get along very well during our occasional long distance, out-of-state phone call.
