Thing is, make no mistake: there IS racism yonder, just a different sort, and maybe not quite so weirdly bitter as that felt stateside. That's why this firsthand account by a couple of my black countrymen over there interested me, The Great Nookie Hunt aside. Like I said, the racism's "different" there, and like Dave Chappelle assures us, sometimes it can work in one's favor. A couple of things to understand: race-based ill will over there is more typically directed at folks from the Caucasus, such as Chechens or Georgians and the like, who are commonly referred to as "black". In contrast, African-looking folks have most often been students from Africa proper over there for their studies, and either viewed generally positively, neutrally or frankly disregarded. There are just too few to be significant, even in larger cities. If anything, one with a more "chocolatey" hue visiting there might benefit from things like the common old Russian expression, "Я в шоколаде" ("Ya v'shokoladye" or literally "I'm in chocolate"), which means "I'm doing very well". So who wouldn't like that? I would also submit the very popular song by Pier Narciss, "Shokoladny Zayats" [= "Chocolate Bunny"], in further support of this hunch that a little extra melanin couldn't hurt in the sexual sphere. And of course, younger folks emulate the whole rap cultural thing. I imagine what holds for Russia is very similar to Ukraine.

I have been to Ukraine six or seven times starting in 2009. My longest time there was for 3 months. I can attest to the fact that, as a black, I experienced little to no overt racism there. I attribute that mostly due to the fact that they have little experience with black people. Some racists Ukrainians exist there but it is just not like in the USA, where many people have racist attitudes but they keep it to themselves. Especially in the dating arena in the USA people are very race-conscious. Not so much in Ukraine. I have heard Ukrainians, including one lady that I was dating, speak disparagingly of Tartars and Turkish men. They view these categories of men similar to how many white Americans view black men , as inferior. So it is not strictly correct to say they are not racist. It is just not directed toward black Americans. I met an African medical student in Mykolaiv who was married to a Ukrainian lady. He warned me of how crafty the Ukrainian women can be in dealing with men. He offered to help me vet Ukrainian women. He spoke fluent English and Russian since he had been there for years. Yes, there are many beautiful women there of marriage age. But honestly there are also many ordinary looking people and even ugly babushkas. The poor people out in the country do not all look like runway models. What is different about Ukrainian women is that the dress to impress in public. Picking up young women on Tinder, as you did, is not in any way a big success. You should not attribute it to your "game" or that they find you so hot. Many young women in Ukraine make a living off of rich foreigners by scamming them and through professional dating (letting tourists wine and dine them). They don't have the money to go to the kind of places you took them to. Also in Ukraine, the man pays for everything. It is very easy to get scammed in a soft way in Ukraine. In Odessa, for instance, the nightclubs and beach clubs coordinate the "beach club scam" where gorgeous ladies allow foreigners to pick them up and take them to a beach club in order to party. The girls run up enormous tabs, more than $1,000 that the unfortunate victims discover at the end of the night. The party girls take off at the end of the night and you are left with the bill. Bouncers are there to make sure you pay up. The beach club gives the girls a percentage of the bill (a kickback) that has been agreed to in advance.

While that is reality and does happen, it's easily something you can refuse. One step beyond the so-called party girls are the women interested in long term relationships. The only thing one needs is time because if you are serious even with dating apps like Tinder you can find success. The ratio of women to men is in your favor, you would have to be an idiot to screw up; many men especially middle aged WM have screwed up royally.

It's weird saying tourists praise Ukraine. Those of us who were born/raised in Ukraine know the reality. These tourist spots are nice, but they only show 0.000001% of the country. Most Ukrainians are living in abject poverty. Girls are desperate for tourists because they know they have money. Many people are making about 20 USD a week if they're lucky. Job opportunities are limited, the medical system is almost non-existent, the corrupt police do not care about anyone and can easily be bribed, and even go out of their way to blackmail street workers. Racism is rampant in Ukraine, especially at football games. A college degree is almost worthless in Ukraine, since there's not enough jobs for everyone. I'd take America any day.

Therei's a big difference between how Black African men and Black American men are viewed and treated. The most disliked Black people and Black culture is african and the most liked Black people and culture is Black American. Many African people started calling themselves Black after Black american did instead of just African, so it made alot of people who don't like African people call them Black over just "African", which caused misunderstandings when it came to Black American men.
