I am having issues with my clients chatting too much and it throws me off my work! Ive watched your videos on how to deal. I just can’t bring myself to say anything, I just don’t want to be rude. And it really feels like it would be rude. Arrg... The husband was literally talking to me while I was scrubbing their toilet! He was so nice though, I just couldn’t say “ please leave me alone!” 😂

Shannon S Could you consider listening to a podcast/wearing earphones? Maybe ask them if they would mind (without mentioning you don’t want to talk)

Minnie11chula Yes! That’s exactly what I was thinking!! I just need to get some wireless earbuds now , so the cord won’t get in my way😊

the owner of the company came by my condo for a walk through. i liked it. the other 2 companies didn’t offer that. i kind of wished the team of husband & wife came.

I really appreciated this video! I have been in the insurance industry and I have to say that what you said is exactly what we do for every sale! you always always always expect and anticipate the sale! you guide your prospect toward the sale and then close! I just never really thought of getting a house to clean really as a "sale"! how could I not? anyway, this was a very eye opening video! thanks again for this information! I know exactly what to do!

Yay! I'm glad it makes sense, and thanks for your insights from the insurance industry. It's amazing how many of the the skills we've learned in other businesses transfer to house cleaning. :-) Thanks for watching.

Has anyone ever found it to be off-putting when you tell them “no talking?” I live in Atlanta and maybe it’s just the southern hospitality, but I would feel uncomfortable if my house cleaner told me that. I mean I get why you would feel inclined to give a heads up so as to avoid an hour long gossip session upon arrival. I suppose I saw my Mom’s cleaning business flourish from the relationships she built with all of her clients which I presume was the result of her engagement with the home owner. Either way, just curious if that has caused someone not to select your services. Thanks for all the content you create!

B C that’s totally off putting for me

I’ve been told just the opposite; people are annoyed their housekeeper talks and talks the entire time. The homeowner then feels like they have to engage in conversation instead of having someone focus on cleaning their house.

Minnie11chula - Talking the whole time while cleaning is annoying and also unprofessional. I am not referring to talking the whole time. I am referring to the notion of not speaking at all: to the point where you signal ahead of time that there will be no talking. How can you establish a good business relationship if there isn’t even an exchange of pleasantries?

+B C I am in North Carolina and we too are big on Southern hospitality and charm. This is why we mention it up front. “Hey once you hire me and you are paying me to work for you, I honor the agreement and work not chit chat.” The relationships are fantastic because there are boundaries in place. And we remind ourselves daily that we are not paid to be therapists, we are paid to clean toilets and mop floors. When the promise is clear, the price is easy, and the relationships strong. 👍

Angela Brown - Thanks for your feedback. I want to be clear that I totally agree with cleaners sometimes are forced to be therapists (along with hairdressers, etc). I also agree that talking will hinder the speed and precision at which you can blast through the work. I was coming from more of the delivery side of setting the boundary. And yes, boundaries are vital to life in business and more. No dispute on that. Perhaps the example you gave had a little more sinister tone to it for the purpose of the video.

Hey Angela, how and where do you recon I find 1099 contractors?
@AskAngelaBrown4 жыл бұрын
+CommeDesSalio Church bulletins, word of mouth, ask your clients, out an ad in NextDoor.com and keep your pipeline full of people you want to work with. When you need an IC on a whim you need those relationships in place.
