What helped me so much was making good friends in Al-Anon - but mostly the certainty of Jesus's love for me no matter what else is going on. He is my security and helps me evaluate.

OOOOOOO.... SO MANY are!!! I used to be, but you, Dr Townsend, Steve Arterburn & the others on the New Life Live radio show, prior to 2010, helped me soooo much and ESPECIALLY "CHANGES THAT HEAL". That was the first book i bought, then came many others: many of the "Boundaries" books, "How To Have That Difficult Conversation", one about people who push your buttons & some others. And i THANK GOD that i was able to find all of you because i was desperately searching for Biblically-based guidance.

This was so helpful. I have wondered about this too. This has really helped me realize that we were made to be affirmed by our parents and others around us and that healing comes from relationship. Our mirror neurons get reoriented when we are around safe and living people and receiving love from God. Very helpful!

Hi Dr. Cloud, I have been trying to get on the show for about a year no doubt it would take me a year to explain everything so I’ll make this short and sweet. I am 64 years old I worked I had a house I gave birth to three children I had a dog you know all the norms. I lost my son when he was 32 I lost my last son when he was a baby my daughter went into the military and met a very controlling husband who will not let her have anything to do with her family you have never met such a narcissist in all your life he has her wrapped around his finger and no one could reach her she has nothing to do with her family that she grew up with no one knows why. I have not seen or talked to her in 10 years she did not even go to her father‘s funeral I have had several surgeries and mild stroke and two heart attacks I have the mild form of leukemia and I also am fighting kidney disease which I have not been in dialysis I am really striving and fighting to get well the problem with all this is I have no life. There are not many small groups in this area. What do you suggest for someone that’s broken I can’t seem to get out of this deep dark depression my mind is very functional but my body is not I can’t meet anyone not being this sick people I don’t even know how to meet friends under my circumstances., do you have any suggestions to brighten my life? I look forward to watching your show every day no we are never too old to learn something . God bless you I hope you continue to show you have something good going here I believe you’re helping thousands of people. I’m going to keep trying to get on the show every day But maybe Jessica will read this and ask you what you think heartbroken and trying to get well from Indiana. Bye for now

dr.cloud been studying with your book *"changes that heal"* not sure if i am reading between the lines. but i feel like book is trying to tell me to *"blame myself"* for most of the 'stuff' that has happened [to me or because of me]. i get, having to be *'introspective'* and have accepted my part in the dysfunction. still the feeling of having to heap more blame on myself seems [wrong] (like i mentioned, might be reading between the lines). will you shed some insight if this is not actually the message this book is relaying. i am glad i have come to realize that the one who *had to change* was me.

Good Article. People might wonder what is the point of all this preaching why are people always bothering us about the bible and what Jesus said. It is because 100,000s of thousands of people die every day and most of them are probably not going to Heaven. Jesus said there is a narrow way and FEW people find it. When Jesus spoke to his people he said "little flock" because most people have not really taken the time to explore the bible to see what it takes for Jesus to take us into Heaven when we leave this earth. It is a very sad reality but Jesus is a fierce judge when we actually look at the bible. Like the bible says "Our God is a consuming fire". The bible says for everyone to work out their salvation and spend their time sojourning on earth in fear and trembling. The bible says be afflicted and mourn let you laughing be turned into morning and your joy to heaviness. Those who laugh now will mourn later. Like John Macarthur a great preacher says God gave an impossible message to unremarkable people. It's like Jesus said I have to hate my life, and give up all my desires to follow him or I will be punished for eternity? That’s pretty harsh. But it is because he is such a Holy God and no sin in life will go unpunished he paid for our sin but we have to receive the gift of salvation to go to Heaven. How do we get this? That is a very complicated thing but the bible lays it out for us. And we can find the way to Jesus when we seek the truth and let the word cleanse our heart. Which is why Jesus said I am the way the truth and the life no one comes to the father but by me. I am the door and if anyone comes in any other way he is a thief and a robber. And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness. In this verse the bible is speaking about those who received not the love of the truth. Those who wanted to live their own way. The bible always says the gospel message is foolish to those who are perishing. In the article below it talks about the importance of repentance. We must repent of sin and turn to God. We must repent from taking our own path and turn to God or our direction will not be good. Those who don't know Jesus will go to the same place as the worst of the worst. The father of Satanism on his dead bed was saying before he died what have I done what have I done something is very wrong something is very wrong. John Hagee speaks of visiting someone on his dead bed who said preacher PRAY PRAY PRAY I can feel the flames of hell PRAY as he died. This is a very serious thing. The alternative is eternal punishment in the lake of fire. Whaling and knashing of teeth. The Holy Ghost will be our prosecutor and render us guilty as charged. Because the intent of Jesus was for us to live a live in submission to him and his word. www.desiringgod.org/messages/unless-you-repent-you-will-all-likewise-perish Other recommended videos: The Only Road to Heaven & Saved or Self Deceived Part 1&2 by John Macarthur
