That guitar sounds amazing. Someday, I hope to have a guitar with an Adirondack Spruce top. I am originally from upstate NY and lived in the Adirondacks for a time. The Adirondacks truly are a special place, so it is no surprise that the Spruce is also special. I look forward to hearing more about this unique guitar.

If I heard this guitar on a record I would have definitely guessed it was a Martin. It just has the sound!

I cannot help but think of Bo Diddley's rectangular electric Gretsch guitars when I see this acoustic box. It sounds very good indeed! By the way, since I always play sitting down (well, for the last 40 years or so anyway) I remove the end pins from all my acoustics, so I can sit them down easily.

Astonishing sound for such a strange looking beast. It's a really good guitar.

I'm sure you'll get into the guitar and the luthier in your next video, but as a sneak peak for the viewers if you a parent like I am, the first instance I heard of Steve was him playing local shows in San Diego for families and young kids. His band Hullabaloo has him up there front and center with a box guitar. I immediately look his brand up online that day and was immediately intrigued. Can't wait to watch your upcoming in-depth look at this guitar!

Well this is different! You should also find some neat cigar box guitars too! Here’s a video idea: You can teach people to make box guitars - it’s the sort of thing that might be much less intimidating than trying to build your own acoustic or electric guitar because of its shape and still much better than buying a kit because you’re totally making it yourself. You can take us on a trip to help people figure out how to select and have the lumber cut (for people who don’t have the tools or don’t know how themselves), show people where to buy some good, inexpensive necks for this type of build, and then show us how to glue and put everything together. You can also make a similar video to walk us through making a cigar box guitar which is a little different because they typically have thinner necks with 3 strings, and I’ve never seen what they do inside the box to brace it. You can also help people pick some pickups that would be idea for the box shape if someone wants to add that. Btw, can you mount the strap button on the top end in the center or back corner (top in playing position) so you can still stand the guitar up on the bottom end? I think it would work great and be most balanced in the mid to back corner, especially with a strap lock of some kind to secure it (even a rubber one), though I doubt most straps with a tight leather button hole would fall off anyway because the guitar doesn’t seem very heavy anyway.

Sounds beautiful. Is it comfortable up against your body? Arms and lap?

Sounds fantastic! I was tickled by how much you appreciated the packaging. I think my reaction was very similar when I opened up mine. I’ve found with mine you can get different tone qualities depending on where you strum it. Mine is over 2” shorter in scale length and the body is smaller as well so maybe that plays a part but I found when I strum closer to where the neck meets the body it sounds fuller and more like a larger bodied guitar while over the soundhole is a bit thinner sounding like a vintage parlor guitar. Thanks for the video Jeremy! I’m looking forward to your review 🤙🏼

It's a 1 11/16 in nut and a 25.4 in scale length. I think? It's all Martin specs for the most part. This video was shot yesterday and I have played it every possible second I could in the last 24 hours

I don't trust that zoom mic. Everything sounds good in that.
@JeremySheppard2 жыл бұрын
Buckle in for the fancy mics then. I like how accurate the zoom is. It's my run and gun, the Lauten Audio LA120's can be better than reality.
@williamnichols62532 жыл бұрын
If the zoom is the simplest one then I guess it's better than the 'fancy mics'... I just have never heard any guitar recorded close to a condenser mic that sounds bad. Even the smack of the pick against the strings is boomy when a condenser mic is less than 2 inches away. Maybe use a nice mic but put it accross the room?
