Very motivating to attack the death pile! Been doing this 22 years as a hobby. Retired right before Covid and growing business daily. So much enjoyment sourcing.....and exciting to list newly found items. But I have a lot of money sitting in my "investment piles". Mel - as you know I'm a fan of you personally as you been a guest on my channel with that being said this is probably the only "podcast " youtube video that I have listen to twice. The first attempt was over 2-3 days and wasn't remembering everything he was focused on. I enjoyed the chat so much as it was a great shop talk about the opportunity of EBAY - I have told couple people already they should listen to these video as he is cut and dry about the work attitude he has on running his business. Not everyone has to inspire to be a 5 million dollar seller but love the conversation that has a motivating drive and to hear him being rewarded is inspiring. I will reference this in a future video as I grow because I have this chat planted in my head to keep grinding and growing. Back when I was a franchise owner of multiple units owning a Subway franchise and having done millions and having to restart in life - its hard to find people that are positive and driven to this level of success to motivate. Reselling is lonely and for some turning to KZbin can be a time suck - so you have to learn how to weed out some of that. Thanks for bringing this chat to the audience and I wish you personally as a friend continued success on KZbin and in your reselling business.

I buy large zip lock bags from Dollar Tree, they come 5 in a box, and then I fold a jacket the way it would most likely pack into a padded flat rate best, then the jacket goes into the zip lock, squeeze the air out of it, sit on it, get your neighbour to squish it if you're not strong enough, then close the bag, and quickly put it into the padded flat rate mailer or into a tyvek if you think there's a danger of it expanding (like a puffer jacket). You'd be amazed what you can fit into a flat rate mailer if you pre-bag and squish. Good luck :)

Makes total sense. I have been only listing one type of item, over the last couple of months, and you get into a repetitive mode, so you end up listing quicker, everything flows a bit like a factory setting so to speak. My problem is taking the leap and only selling soft toys. On one account and books on the other, and stop selling clothing. How did you find taking that decision ?
@backfromburnout2 жыл бұрын
For me, for the last couple of years I have focused on selling books but I still had other things occasionally being listed into my store as I found it hard to make that final jump into only books. I still have the odd thing I find that I want to list into my store but it was easy to stop selling clothes as I just don't enjoy selling them anymore. Since working with Tech and Chris this year I have focussed on my systems and getting as much done in a day in the least amount of time so it's made it much easier for me to say no to selling anything other then books. My business is running so much smoother now and I feel much more focussed and calmer in my everyday.

But I feel for you Mel, I suffer from Stenosis’s in my lower back also fibromyalgia, good luck finding a way to work without the Pain in your back!

Great interview & so logical tips, it all makes sence from what ive learned about Business & Marketing in general. So happy to hear someone say it so straight forward & candidly. Im saving this for my son to hear.
Such a motivation that I needed. I'm in the process to shortly be working full time for someone else first time in years due to a some major changes in my life. This really give me the kick that I need to build my Ebay up more so that I can work full-time for myself in the very near future. Thanks

Love, love , love this podcast. I retired in 2020. Had been selling for awhile before then. My goal is to check off the items on my bucket list. I know reselling can help me get there provided, of course, if I am disciplined. Tons of great advice in this podcast. The one that hits home is the "death pile." I needed that. Thank you so much!
@backfromburnout2 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! Deathpiles are the worst! I used to have the largest deathpile. I had an entire storage unit full! Now I have one shelf that I work off and it’s so much better

Amazing podcast- I keep buying items which are out of my main niche and although they are profitable, they take up exponentially more time/ cost to test/store and list! I really need to just stick to the pop culture stuff as it then also makes the items available for sale in our brick and mortar, website, socials and ebay whereas the other stuff tends to be ebay only! Really amazing interview- appreciate it! Thanks Mel & Tech

He has hit every item I need to work on. As you have previously. Time management, photos, dedicated systems and spaces, consistent numbers. I only have a dozen items so it is difficult list 10 items each day but I need to source related products. You did a great job with this interview, well done Mel.

That was amazing! I am so happy I stumbled onto this… I stayed home from work today because I wasn’t feeling well and needed something to occupy myself while I worked on my reselling business and this couldn’t have been a better choice! He is amazing aside from the fact that I worry that he doesn’t get enough sleep lol… I really took in the advice about not becoming emotionally attached to my items… And profit is profit moving those items out is the goal selling is the goal profit is the goal holding out for a few more dollars is just going to plug up the pipeline… I don’t live that far away from this person and I would love to find out where his store is and meet him!
@backfromburnout2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for listening, I hope you’re feeling better now. I think some people need less sleep then others - me I’m one of those people who needs 8-10 hours 🤣🤣🤣
