Came back from Budapešť yesterday after a 3 day trip. We had lunch and dinner in two different restaurants. Its worth mentioning, that tips (+/-15%) is often already included in the final bill. On both ocasions we paid 80+€ for 2 persons. Watch out for drink prices, as they simply doubled the final sum. If you are not carefull enough, you can end up paying 10€ for a single lungo.

@calm55011 ай бұрын
Not long back from Budapest. Less expensive than London but bloody close. Service charge often included but, as others have said, keep an eye on drink prices.
@pedrorochadacunha8129 Жыл бұрын
even your 'cheap' example day is too expensive, haha. Those that will stay 2-3 days, should divide the city into areas, and each day visit one area by walking (yeah, you will walk a lot, but that's part of the experience, you will see the whole city). As for food, just buy cheapest stuff on any supermarket, for like 2-5 euro. Eating the local food is cool and should be supported... but for us on a tight budget, it's waaay cheaper to just buy stuff to fill your belly and keep your energy up, no need for fancy stuff.
@StuffedCabbageAdventures Жыл бұрын
That's absolutely fair, and probably applicable in any country. As I noted it all really depends on someone's personal preferences. Going to supermarkets and bakeries significantly cut the cost (even if those were also hit by inflation, they are still the cheapest option). And skipping experiences like the thermal baths and the river cruises also help to save a lot. Luckily Budapest can be fun just by exploring it and walking around 😊

Hey there! There are always special public transport lines available for the race weekends. Usually on Hungaroring dot hu website they list the methods to reach the track (often it's a special bus from Göncz Árpád Városközpont metro station). The track is up to the standards that FIA requires so there are the essential shops, food stalls and toilets, but to be honest last time I was there was in 99' 😊 one thing for sure, stuff there will be expensive 😅

I have a question regarding safest way to exchange or withdraw money from ATM in budapest.
@StuffedCabbageAdventures Жыл бұрын
Hey there, exchanging in the city is safe, there are many exchange offices which are part of large chains and have a door between you and the street so no need to worry when exchanging. Just check the exchange rates and choose whichever you find best, there are many in the Deák Ferenc square and Váci shopping street areas :) regarding ATMs, just go to one of the banks that is part of a chain and the atm machine is within it's premises. Don't use the standalone Euro ATM machines, those have terrible rates.

Like in most cities, the places mostly visited by tourists will have higher prices. However altogether Hungary got more expensive in recent years unfortunately. There are some alternatives 'though. Restaurants in the outskirts can be cheaper, or buffet style places we call "kifőzde" where you can get food for reasonable price. Not Hungarian cuisine, but there are cheap Chinese places, or Turkish restaurants giving food for decent price (but quality won't be stellar). Or buying in convenience store and cooking for self is a cheap alternative for those who live here :)
