this happened to me and my sister on the motorway we had only one bar showing of petrol left and we were on the m’way in the middle of no where, lost. We were literally screaming, praying to god to save us 😭😭 I didn’t know whether to drive fast or slow, so one minute I was speeding next I was stopped and thought I’d have to be towed any second. But luckily we made it to the petrol station near Manchester airport. What a day 🤣🤣🤣😂 never again.. that was when I learnt my lesson, alwAYS FILL your tank up before going on the motorway 😂😂😂 nightmare.

It depends on your car my car on empty can drive for 25miles it tells you in the manual. But running it completely out off gas will cause damage to the engine

Petrol is not a lubricant like diesel so doesn’t actually lubricate the fuel pump. Once it runs dry the pump stops running anyway

The miles per gallon goes up cause you are accelerating the faster you go less fuel you use. You burn more at idle and slow speeds.

You can damage your engine by doing this, all the impurities in the bottom of the tank go into the engine and clogs up the fuel filter which is why you kept feeling those jerks, that's your engine getting damaged

This isn’t really the smartest idea, I mean out of all of your ideas this was pretty dumb from many views like mechanically, when you run a car with barely any fuel like close to running out you can cause the fuel pump to suck any gunk and shit from the bottom of the tank into the fuel lines and just ruin the car and secondly you intentionally caused a risk to not only your life but others by going on the motorway knowing your gonna run out of fuel
