The only problem this game has companion quests in which some are bad but that’s nothing compared to the rest of the game.

How many games came out like Concord and Dustborn where the developers were making a game for themselves, and not thinking at all about the customer fan base? People will have different definitions of “woke,” but to me in regards to video gaming it was when video game developers stopped making games that the fan base would enjoy, and instead chose to make games that pushed politics and alphabet people agendas through that failed miserably. Maybe the almost immediately death of games like Concord and Dustborn will remind developers they make games for us, not the other way around.

The problem is that hate clicking top tier currency on KZbin. Its easy for a creator to put out a few videos calling a game garbage or woke and those vids see good numbers. The algorithm also does a good job feeding you more and more of that content. Let’s be real the game was made for the devs who made it. Ok, not true but cool that’s your opinion. I’m actually loving the game, they expanded the lore for the Dwarves and Elves to levels never before seen in Dragon Age, in Origins the Dwarves were short Americans in mountains, the Elves were just native Americans, the Qunari were just tall Humans and spirits were just the seven deadly sins and virtues. It’s been given more love, yes the Darkspawn look bad but at least they gave some kind of explanation as to why, the darker tone of Origins is gone and people need to accept that cause them crying about a style that wasn’t around since 2009 is embarrassing. And yes BG3 is fucking legendary but be careful playing as an Elf during the goblin camp since it will end with the whole place fighting you.

Not to mention the Qunari who have nothing in common with humans. Sten had grey skin and his culture was completely foreign and odd to the rest of the human cultures in Thedas. Aaaaaaa I give them a pass, since this was at first a live service (which is why it looks like fortnite) for a bit until my guess 2019 when EA changed their mind so most of their work got trashed. Then they had to remake the game into a single player and COVID hits, for 2 years most people couldn't get to work then they had to finish this game in less than 2 years. I am honestly surprised the game not on fucking fire. I played it, it ok so far I give it a low 8/10, get it if you need to pass time or on a sale. I am excited to see how mass effect turns out, since they survived a hell of development and somehow released a good game.

Or if you want to say „BioWare can only work on one project at a time“ they announced „DreadWolfRise“ trailer back in 2019 after Anthem‘s release. So 5 years (and yes, we can count in covid because GoW Ragnarok was released and developed during the Covid time). Not to mention that Andromeda was the first game by the new BioWare team and we all knew how that ended. After they got the green light to change direction they decided to take what they already worked on and turn into what it is now because it would be a giant waste of money and push it the release date even further than what it was if they started from scratch. Add in COVID which everything a million times worse. What we got is a dragon age that barely made it out development and for what it is, it’s a damn good game. Maybe it’s not exactly the standard we were hoping for but it’s good game nonetheless.

By comparison Veilguard's choice system seems afraid to even let you disagree with party members too strongly. In the dev's defense, the vast majority of players would probably just choose to play as a good guy either way, but it is a shame when varied character roleplaying takes a backseat in a series that was once so heavily known for it.

And imo even if the original people who made the original franchise aren't around anymore i believe the new devs absolutely should be held to the same standard purely based on the fact that they are keeping the same franchise going. While making something original there's always some leeway, but if you are taking control of a beloved franchise the creators should hold themselves to the same quality standard.

I was never a Dragon Age fan because of the combat. I barely knew this game was coming out. I had zero expectations for it and I still think it looks like ass. I watched some hours of the combat and the story and legit can't figure out why people are playing. I'm not bothered by gay, trans, or whatever. Do you, but you still have to make a good story. The combat is just big particles with no substance. I wanted to like it since I didn't like the old mmoish combat of the old games. At least I could see the need for strategy in those ones. Veilguard's combat isn't for the action gamers or the strategy gamers.

Lets make sure this is perfectly clear, just because the og staff isnt there doesn't mean you have a bunch of people who clearly dont care about the game run it. Your new staff should always been over seen by someone thats actually interested in what came before and listen to feedback to make a accurate but progressive entry in the saga. You should never turn on the fans that made the game possible or destroy the lore that everyone came to love, trying to reboot a game without making it a full reboot or giving the originals a proper end, just means the new people A, dont know how to live up to what others liked about the title, or B, hates what came before and want to turn it into their own work just with a popular name behind it

Experimentation is fine and all but it certainly should have been a new title, I'm not really familiar with the dragon age series nor have i played veilguard, but I think it's generally a bad idea to let "new" employees handle a an established series that has a standard amongst it's fans. If they intend to attract a new audience, they're least likely to play the previous games given the fact that the game has a very different tone from the previous games and if it's meant for previous fans, then it failed in that regard due to the same reason, perhaps some fans might enjoy it but it is apparent that a majority don't.

Don't think anyone was a really complaining about the race of the elves except for fringe ppl, most complained about the cringey/lazy writing/dialogue, different art/look, and the plot lines involving Taash and their pronouns. I think the writing/dialogue is the main offender, just felt lazy and uninspired, I feel like most ppl wouldn't have cared about the Taash stuff as much if the writing around it was better, so it felt more natural/organic and not force fed/preachy.
