I really wished you mentioned the quirk of Slurpuff in ubers having the unusual sweet spot of being optimal at lvl 97. This sweet spot allows Slurpuff to get down to its focus sash (to activate unburden) by Arceus's judgment while being able to outspeed +2 speed Xerneas and other uber threats.

I remember actually using Slurpuff the opposite way in single player, Cotton Guarding and Drain Kissing its way into being a physical tank. It's really surprising to learn that competitively it was a hardcore sweeper.

To be fair Calm Mind, Cotton Guard, Draining Kiss, Flamethrower was a solid set, didn’t have the instant power of Belly Drum but made up for that by being harder to revenge kill

Thats because it was Swirlix that used Cotton Guard + Calm Mind. It would get banned from LC in every Gen its in for it. Slurpuff prefers the hyper offense build however, even if it DOES still can put that same moveset to use decently well.

Designs like Slurpuff and the Nido line have to be some of my favourites. Creatures that don't resemble one thing specifically with lots of sources behind them. They are the true pocket monsters. Slurpuff is also the best designed dessert/food fairy Pokemon. Alcremie is just fruit covered cream, and Daschbun doesn't feel like much of a fairy type, more a normal type with the bread theme.

Fun fact: Slurpuff lost Belly Drum as egg move in SwSh because the base game didn't had a compatible parent (usually it was Marill line but it wasn't available at SwSh release and on top of that it would need a chain breeding with Poliwag line... That was also cut from the original SwSh!). After generations Clefable suffered the same fate (actually, it got back in BDSP but not SV).

My favorite Fairy-type. Never used one competitively, but had one on my X team with Draining Kiss, Cotton Guard, Wish, and Flamethrower. A friend I used her against described her as "oddly terrifying". If only I had known about Slurpuff's meta moveset at the time!

I was in highschool when Gen 6 came around as there was probably close to 50 people or so with their 3DSs playing XY. No one was really into competitive, including me. However i was able to figure out how busted this set up was on my own just looking at its movepool on Serebii. My Slurpuff ran absolutely rampant and could even solo some teams. Kids around school no joke were making anti-slurpuff counters just because of me.

I honestly love pokemon like slurpuff - the kinds of pokemon that have a role/niche despite their less than ideal traits because they severely make up for them in some other incredible ways. some other examples include gen 4 kabutops in ubers, gen 3 cacturne, gen 9 ribombee, gen 2 miltank they're all very underwhelming pokemon in their various generations, but they have incredibly powerful and specific roles/niches because of their redeeming traits.

I feel like "goofy sweepers" (i.e. Slurpuff, Cloyster, Minior) are usually underlooked at the beginning of a gen because it's seen as a noobtrap and experience players avoid it. Then that Pokemon racks up a lot of wins by good players and it gets adopted when people realize that it's a goofy sweeper.

If only berries weren't permanently consumed when you play in game. Honestly, permanently consuming items in in-game play removes TONS of great strategies. They need to fix that and let you get the items back after the battle is over like in multiplayer.
