Dan you and Alex are such an incredible inspiration and learning resource ! At 52 I reject the idea of waiting for a small social security check to retire and enjoy my life ! Based on many things I’ve learned from you and Alex I’m making my exit strategy now ! I own a home on the Beach in the USA that I can rent and this opportunity will hopefully allow me to live my dream very soon ! Thx 🙏

I really appreciate you guys going into the money specifics, like actually stating numbers for income, sources, and lifestyle realities that work with the specific budgets. There are too many that-- understandably, are ambiguous about it because its directly speaking to their specific personal income and some think that too intrusive. These numbers along with how one lives, and the experience of living in a specific budget helps us viewers immensely and gives a template of the kind of expectations and planning we need to do if we hope to set out on adventures and lifestyle changes like these.

I have to give it to you both for taking that journey! It's an inspiration. Just retired @44 after 25 years of service; and will be moving back to Philippines with my family with a little bit of pension, rental property, and healthcare coverage; I think we're on the sweet spot. Will be living in the province for projected $1K-$1.5K monthly budget. All is well. And keep the videos coming!

Not Philippines specific but thanks for the info on the KZbin ads. I had no idea YT added them regardless of the creator. I have judged creators for these ads popping up every other minute not realizing it was YT doing it. Great video thanks for sharing!

Dan I think your channel gave me the extra inspiration I needed to push off from my US base. Thanks for having Alex on your channel. I have been traveling since January, although I am no stranger to living overseas. No real culture shock for me, just maintaining the spirit of "Semper Gumby"...always be kind, cool and collected whenever interacting with locals and things usually end up fine.

Nice attitude, and respect for daring this at such a young age. I felt the same, not wanting to do "this" any more, staring at a wall and such things. Funny that you would mention food in Turkey. It's one of my big issues in this country (the exception being expensive specialty restaurants you'll find everywhere on the planet). A good (!) pizza is 15 $ nowadays, and Turkish "street food" is worse than Turkish "street food" in Germany. "Seasoning"? Nearly inexistant.

I just came back from Turkey. Nice country but yes - small thin pizza is over $10... hmmm

If you would like to be a guest star and share your story please leave a personal message here: vagabondbuddha.com/contact/ Thank you for your comment. I live most of the year in Phillipines and would like to start a channel there when i get back there on life in my hood and travel there. I find you both inspiring and to be honest I'm not a techie..but would like to at least start simple . Thanks for any advice.

You can live on 1500 in SEAsia, but you need more for airplane tickets and hotels if you want to travel too. Also important to have a saving funds. Maybe you will want to buy a car someday, spend time back in your home country, emergencies.

By the way Dan. I am waiting for you to put out a video about traveling as a vegetarian. Like you I don't eat animals but do find it hard to do while traveling. The hipper places will have veg restaurants but what about when you are not staying in Coolsville. I know there is a strong vegetarian movement in India but mostly no where else.. Have you ever considered a video about this subject?

Health insurance? Car??
@VagabondAwake
@VagabondAwake 7 ай бұрын
Great question @RatTerminator, I have one report where I explain what I do about health care and another where I show you how I search for health insurance, and a third report sharing which one I decided to finally buy. What I do about health care: vagabondbuddha.com/two-biggest-risks-of-retiring-early-overseas/ Report where I search for health insurance: vagabondbuddha.com/best-health-insurance-for-ex-pats-in-philippines/ Here is the Health Insurance I bought (and scams to avoid): kzbin.info/www/bejne/Zp3Id5J4eLGJgdk By the way, once you search for health care you will start seeing more offers for health insurance and travelers insurance when you are online. Health insurance is one of the most dynamic or changing industries in the travel world because so many people around the world are deciding to live or retire outside their home country. So do a search every year before you renew to make sure you have the best available for your personal circumstances because new ones come out every few months. Thanks for asking so I could answer this for many people! Dan
