Personally, that doesn't sound like a good business plan, but if people buy multiple copies of Hitman then it works. I read in another comment that you can test the map in alternative modes and you're only locked out for 6-12hrs. Idk if that was an update or incomplete info on the video's part. The mechanic can't even be called predatory, more like comical evil.

You don't have to buy multiple copies. Atrioc is just insane. It's a fun, one-time difficult challenge you don't even have to pay to attempt. There's also an arcade mode where you can attempt once per day. Calling it comically evil is an overreaction.

Most of the time you learn the maps on the campaign playthrough.

You actually can replay them, its just a timed lock out (like 6-12 hours can't remember which). It's also an optional mission that is part of a free event. If you want to learn the map, you're really supposed to do that in the campaign or the freelancer mode. Not in the middle of a challenge run.
