Using the SI (kg, °C etc...): The sensible heat is equal to: Q= c*m*ΔT with c=specific heat capacity; m=mass; T=temp According to NASA the temperature inside the sun is about 15 millions °C. Let's consider a temperature difference of such value [15*10^6 - 20(room temperature)≃15*10^6 °C] and taking a steel pin tip we have a specific heat capacity of steel equal to about c=500J/(kg*°C) and a mass that for this calculation I will consider of 1 gram but i think the actual mass should be smaller. Therefore: Q=(15*10^6)*(1*10^-3)*(500) = 7'500'000 J. To check what such energy release could done if released istantaneously let's see a TNT equivalent explosion. A gram on TNT after detonation can release 4.184 kJ or 4184 J of energy (according to wikipedia). So 7'500'000/4184 = 1792.54 grams or 1.792 kg of TNT. The detonation of 1kg of TNT can, (quoting Wikipedia), "Under controlled conditions one kilogram of TNT can destroy (or even obliterate) a small vehicle." Therefore 1.792 kg of TNT can realistically destroy one small bus or 2 cars. So finally, we have that the head of a steel tip with a temperature equivalent to that of the core of the sun is as dangerous as a powerful handgranade. Why is Vsauce telling this is so apocalyptically powerful like a big meteor impact? who is wrong?
