From what i see there is a small vertical blade in the middle that splits the buns but not all the way through, it gives it enough room for that kiddle blade to cut in between the middle ones. So there's 2 on the outside one in the middle and one a little further back to partially split them.

I have uploaded a new video explaining and showing how the buns are cut. Check it out Explained in text: 0:19 There are 3 blades. The middle blade is attached to the top of the machine to keep the buns connected at the bottom, while cutting the hot dog slot in the middle. The 2 blades on the outside cut the slot into the outer portion of the bun, keeping the spines of the buns together

@@b4djslydethere is a T shaped blade in the middle attached to the bottom of the machine. The buns are only connected at the top not the bottom. It cuts sideways into the buns without cutting apart the top of the bun. The bottom portion is split. Alternatively the outer buns are cut using blades attached to the top of the machine, that cut the outer sides. They remain connected by the spines of the bun
