I don’t believe she’s part of any propaganda campaign but I’m pretty sure she just went on a trip to China, and then defected with her mom, and all the other „war stories“ are completely fabricated.

YeonMi, you are a total badass. Not many could endure what you have. Back in '98, I was patrolling the DMZ and my platoon forgot me at a check point. All night I spent watching a group of NK troops watching me. They didn't seem hostile, in fact I have them waving to me on a video tape somewhere.
