Hoping to get a switch before Bank shuts down. (No gender or forms so far, but my own rule is to catch Pokémon in their own games only. Which makes it so that I play every single generation.)

I actually was considering making a living dex for a while, but your first video inspired me to actually start! I’ve caught every single possible alpha Pokémon form, and now I’m going through the rest of the games catching every Pokémon in a Luxury ball. I’ve got about 700 Pokémon in home at this point!

I just find it sad that some day soon we’ll never be able to trade Pokémon from the first 7 gens upward. I hope there will be some sort of work around (excluding hacks), though I doubt there will be.

Yeah I hope so to. But I think if there is a way, there will be some sort of fan made server you’ll have to connect to in order to keep bank working. Similar to how we can still get the gen 4 and 5 events thanks to fan servers

Man I discovered this series not too long ago and let me tell you, I'm a fan! I wanted to do the same thing for a long time, and with bank being put in life support that drove me to finally start doing it. I really like the spreadsheet you put up! Some suggestions - maybe add in what box number each one would fall? Another thing I've seen that I think it's useful is to leave a box between gens so whenver they add a new form for an older pokemon you don't have to re-sort everything in home, just that gen. This spreadsheet is _almost_ what I wanted, but I actually want to include newer evos next to older mons (of course, those would still be catched on the game they released). Something like having Porygon2 next to porygon, even if they are from different gens. IOW, sorting by evolution line.

If you download the spreadsheet you can make those changes to it for yourself! I might do the box number thing too but lots of people organize their home differently! So lots of people might not have the regular living Dex first! Also so many people organize their living Dex regular-shiny-regular-shiny so the box numbers would vary for everyone! When it comes to reorganizing the living Dex whenever a new form comes out for an older Pokémon, it really only takes like 20 minutes max to reorganize everything. So it’s not a big deal to not leave spaces between generations. It would also change the box numbers each Pokémon would fall into as well. I understand the spreadsheet might not be absolutely perfect for everyone, but part of the reason it’s downloadable is that you can edit it to your liking! My idea was to organize it the way I like to that was easiest to understand (because I’ve seen some confusing ones out there lol) Thank you for the suggestions and for supporting the series!

Really enjoying this series! One comment I have is in regards to your voiceover. It seems like your microphone is clipping. If it has a separate volume knob you should probably turn it down and boost the audio when editing.

I only have a pattern dial and a gain dial. The gain is set to the lowest it can be and the pattern dial is set to whatever I need for the situation. For videos like this, I have it set to the setting where it only picks up audio from directly in front. Other than that there’s a headphone volume dial which only affects how well I can hear myself with headphones on but that’s really only for calls and gaming

Hmmm. Did you specifically get the shaymin from the flower paradise using oaks letter in platinum and not Diamond and Pearl? If so there shouldn’t be any issues, as those events have been released officially in the past

Thank you! The hardest generation so far was probably gen 2, with the really poor catch rates, plus the awful mechanics for the roamers, but the most time consuming one was probably gen 3 because I had to play through emerald 4 times in order to catch each form of deoxys!

You can send darkrai from Diamond if you first level it up to 50 and have it forget the move pursuit before sending it into gen 5. Shaymin however has to be from platinum

Pokeball data is saved starting in gen 3. Sending Pokémon into legends will make them display in a strange ball, but this is only for legends, any other game these Pokémon go in including home, they are displayed as being caught in a pokeball (unless you display their legends arceus data in home)

As stated in the video, bank and transporter will not be shutting down when the 3DS online services get discontinued. There is no set date when they will go offline but it’s safe to assume they will both go down together as transporter won’t have a use without bank

It shouldn’t because if you get the event items officially when they were released, you don’t necessarily have to catch the Pokémon right away. Even in BDSP I got the members card and oaks letter when the events were live and still haven’t went and caught darkrai and shaymin yet because I want to shiny hunt them some day

You do have to connect to wifi and you do not need an older router. I have a few old tutorials on my channel, there’s a bunch of different methods to get gen 4 to work based on what devices you have

Yep but like other Pokémon like giratina and cherrim, you can’t physically have them into home as they are only temporary forms that change either only in battle or based on a held item! So we don’t need them for home!

Nope! The event was never released for platinum so all arceus should be illegal. As I stated in the video, the only one that can transfer up is the mystery zone arceus caught exclusively in Diamond if you level it up to 100 and have it only know the move judgement and that it’s most definitely just some strange over sight that this specific one can be sent into home

To be honest you didn’t manage to catch every gen 4 for your living dex. You need to get 2 forms (original and origin) of palkia, dialga and giratina. As well 18 arceus just because the type plates.

@@Greener_Machineer no trolling But for a full living dex he needed to catch 2 palkia, 2 dialga, 2 giratina and at least catching 18 arceus. You can get the items thats turn them into the origin forms of palkia and dialga in SV. Giratina is a joke because you can get both normal and origin forms in gen 4. Arceus is hard because it’s too long and very difficult especially because the event never officially released in gen 4. Doing the void glitch 18 times and after that’s trying to catch it with pokeballs it’s really a huge burn out.

Arceus loses its items, therefore losing its typing, and Palkia, Dialga and Giratina also revert to their base form when moved so there’s no point. If he did that he’d just have over half a box of regular Arceus and 2x of the other legendaries with no difference

If you catch them in platinum with the event items, you don’t need to do anything before sending them up! The events were released in platinum in the past so they will transfer no matter what!

@@kennymarotta9924 you can’t send items from gen 4 to gen 5 so giving arceus a Pokémon an item before sending won’t do anything. It’ll just put the item back in your gen 4 bag. For the void glitch arceus all you need to do is level it up to 100 and teach it judgement and have it forget all its other moves besides judgement! This must be done in a Gen 4 game before sending into gen 5

@@kennymarotta9924 if there was a white flute event then yes. I have never heard of a white flute event so I wouldn’t know if you can get it. If you have platinum or HGSS though you can get a white flute on those save files. I don’t know the location by heart so you would have to look it up. The other way would be to get the white flute on RSE and have a Pokémon hold it before sending them into a Gen 4 game which is what I did

Azure flute arceus will never send up due to the event never being released. It doesn’t matter what game it’s caught in. In order to get arceus from gen 4 you have to do the ways I showed in the video

@@willieharrison1359 darkrai and shaymin can be caught normally in platinum using the event items but they cannot be caught in Diamond and Pearl. Except darkrai has a similar quirk to arceus where if you get darkrai from new moon island in Diamond only, level it up to 50 and make it forget the move pursuit, it’ll send up. There’s no known way to do shaymin and both are just easier to do in platinum anyway

@@LieYT I’ve had the same kind of arceus in my home for years, just caught in a dusk ball instead of a pokeball. If it can pass through bank to begin with, that means that the game sees it as a legal arceus. It’s for sure an oversight but the game sees it as an official event arceus from sinnoh (like say the toys r us arceus)

@@ThedomiNATION yes I know Nintendos cheat checks are not that good but they don't check always and I did send pokemon through bank that the game doesn't see as legal so I don't really see that as a point like I did say I don't have a problem with it as long as you don't lose your progress and your happy with that way it's fine for me just wanted to say that so you be careful before it happens I know the feeling of doing a living dex myself and I don't want something bad happen after all your progress that's it

@@LieYT I appreciate your concern but I don’t think I have anything to worry about. I don’t plan on doing say shiny lock removals or anything to obtain Pokémon that are impossible to have. And I do believe if the Pokémon company wanted to flag specifically that arceus then they would’ve done it by now. And even if something happens and they do remove the arceus, I can always just use the toys r us event one for my living Dex instead. It would be disappointing, but it would be the next best thing to use

I am doing a Gen 1-7 living dex, not going to move them freely to the ransomware software Pokémon HOME to trap them behind a paywall and not access them anymore, lol. But there is one thing where I am a bit more extreme than you (and many other where I am way more lax than you): I catch the Pokémon where they appear the FIRST time in the game and then with the lowest level.^^

I was making fun of a comment that someone left on one of my videos saying they thought that scarlet and violet were by far the hardest games to shiny hunt in lol. Me personally I think they’re so easy that finding shinies isn’t even exciting in those games

I seem to be having issues with getting the Google Drive link working for the pokedex checklist. Seems to be too large and won't open the .xlsx format for me. Anything I can do for that?

It should be too large to view. As I said in the video, you need to download it first then reupload it to your own Google drive to use it

@@morghini89 are you trying from a computer or another device? I know phones can be weird which is why I said in the video to download it from a computer. There should be a big blue download button right underneath where it says “couldn’t preview file. This file is too large to preview” it’s kinda hard to miss.
