The worse for me are: LED - QLED -> Plasma -> OLED -> CCFL. After one day of using it, my eyes are in pain many days or even weeks (LED). Btw. They are in almost perfect condition, but they cant stand staring at those sources of light , no matter the size (but not phones), brightness (at 0% too), PWM flicker or not and colour settings. Now, I can effortlessly spend 10 hours a day working on my laptop without experiencing any dryness or irritation. In the beginning, I religiously used eye drops for the initial 10 days after my doctor's appointment, but I no longer find the need for them. The dryness has completely vanished, and to my surprise, even my facial skin dryness issue has disappeared. Frankly, I'm convinced that there's no better alternative available.

Thank you for this video. However, you neglect hardware and software aspects like PWM and temporal dithering that cause massive eyestrain. Countless online threads are dedicated to this topic and I personally feel significant differences when using different hardware (monitors, laptops). I am using a Macbook, which is the worst you can do. Mac displays burn my eyes like a laser beam. I try to mitigate with reducing white point, adjusting the color profile, use of e-ink monitors (helps a lot) and use of eye-care monitors (Benq, HP), etc ...

this is my problem. i will not get the same quality of my macbook from other laptops. but it does kills my eyes. the only thing i did to minimize this is to change the color profile to srgb. many people won't admit this issue, probably fanboys? this problem must be addressed because it's a health concern... I arrived at many of the same conclusions but some I was unsure about. I live on a smaller sailboat so 20 feet requires either looking out small windows during day or opening hatch at night to view an object 20 feet away. But my night vision isn't great so that would casue eye strain. On top of the eye strain I have only one good eye so depth perception and blur around text has always been an issue. I've never had corrective lenses despite the cornea transplant at age 16. The eye injury lead to a cataract to form and the cornea transplant. The bad eye has floaters which my eye tries to focus on whether I want to or not, adding to strain. On top of all of that, I have spent last few months writting 220 pages of a book and at same time learning a 3D software(for animation and other). The countless tutorials I watched to learn the softweare are often compressed videos on youtube and the 1080p is more like 480 on many of them. My eyes are killing me. I just want to sleep so they don't hurt. Further surgury to fix cornea transplant issues would be around 30k. I show no signs of eye issues beyond that so simply getting glasses would do nothing but magnify screen. Plan to upgrade screen and hope that helps.

Ambient lighting! I like dark rooms for playing games and watching movies but now I am older I can't get away with it as much. Fixed it by adding background lighting, You want it out of direct sight and have it roughly the same brightness as the screen, Colour can be anything you want but you will find yellows,orange are easy on the eyes as it's more like natural sunlight. I added some philips Hue play bars behind my 2 front speakers at each side of tv reflecting onto the wall, I added an RGB lightstrip behind my computer monitor which also reflects onto the wall to give ambient lighting and reduce eyestrain. You could also add led strips behind desk or in another part of room out of direct sight. Plenty of ways to do it but lighting behind the screen in some form will give best results for reducing eyestrain, The other obvious thing is to take breaks and look off into the distance and stare preferably outside in daylight, Your eye muscles will relax. If you are a computer geek like me you may also have light sensitive eyes, Need to get outside and shut your eyes and look up into the sky near the sun, Get them used to light again and have more blood flow into that region, Just make sure to be safe about it and DON'T look directly at sun with eyes open.

You are wrong about the blue light. I can prove it. Next time your eyes are strained, use the Windows Night Mode and slide the adjustment back and forth. You will easily notice that your eyes feel much better the more you remove blue from the screen. This will also show you that most blue-blocker glasses don't remove enough blue light to make any difference.
@TinyMedicine2 жыл бұрын
hey! I really appreciate your confidence and your approach to prove the fact about blue light. But blue light glasses and filters work (if at all) through Placebo. When you adjust to the night mode it can provide you relief by minimizing the contrast between the environment and the screen. As far as I see it blue light has been unfairly accused of eye strains, purely based on subjective experiences. Scientific studies have failed to establish a direct causative relationship between eye strain and blue light. But I like the way you are thinking. May be take it one step more and try to find confounding factors of your experiment.

Why you don't mention this is caused by IPS screen problem? All laptops are IPS screen after 2019, this is the most disgusting type of screen panel ever, it pretend like more vie angle and colour, but actually just use a more bright luminating panel, use 3 multiplied luminating to get same brightness with a low contrast ratio. And the IPS panel will make blue light and UV light. Even you buy a screen protector, it can only decrease 30% eye strain while these filter claimed themself as filter 96% eye strain. It's not about PWM, IPS panel will make you eye strain, can't sleep, if you use it long time, it will make you can't focus sight and can't see at night. It's not adaptable.

I bet close to 90 % of people will not believe you "blue rays" from a screen are not harming the eyes. Massive propaganda by the optical industry to sell extra glasses ... proofs how ridiculously easy people are manipulated.
