Hi I’m actually thinking about starting a booktube channel, unfortunately the last channel I started had a very toxic community so I left 😢 so I’m just wondering as a creator how do you find the booktube community is it good? Also I read mostly YA fantasy is there a audience for that on booktube? Sorry for all the questions I’m not very involved in the booktube community so I don’t really know🙂

@@THEDUDE--29 hi! I'm sorry you had an initial bad experience. I had been watching booktube for about a year/year & a half before making my own content. I've always been interactive, supportive and positive in other people's comment sections so I think it just naturally built from there. I also tend to have a calm and cheerful demeanor in my videos (even in the video where I said I was in a bad mood lol).. I want people to get value out of what I post but also feel enjoyment. It's definitely helped to film myself because now I know what it looks like (it's even carried over into my real life). May I ask, by "toxic" what do you mean exactly? And are there any contributing factors you can think of? Where did those viewers come from? Did you recognize any of their names? Or just trolls you could block? oh Yes, there is definitely space and audience for YA Fantasy! Do you watch any channels that showcase Fantasy? Eliott Brooks is a great Fantasy channel. I'd say the best way to create community is engaging with others and adding value. No worries about the questions, ask away! Happy to help.

@@THEDUDE--29 btw yes I love the booktube community that I've been involved with so far.. now as channels grow, so do the trolls/rude comments so we'll see if that happens to me as well but it really is one of the best decisions I've made. I'd say it's worth it to try again. 😊

I don't look at my channel as how much I want to earn, I look at it as how much I can justify investing into it. I don't compare myself to other channels, I compare my last month to the one before. 4 months and 26 videos with a few shorts and I have 421 subscribers. So I'm my head I can justify spending $400 on a new camera.

I really appreciate this messaging. So much of what you see for growing your channel is all about growing quickly in a matter of months. This gives new creators like myself a much more realistic timeline and I really appreciate that! Also hearing how the people in your program perform in the steps is helpful. Ie--by this time you’re making $100 or $500 a month consistently. Thank you so much for the encouragement!

So many people want their channel to "explode" and a lot of youtube youtubers give the impression that if your channel isn't blowing up, it's failing. KZbin is a long game that and "blowing up" your channel is not realistic.

I've found one of the hardest parts of growing a KZbin channel is getting out high-quality videos consistently. Even with multiple editors and thumbnail designers, it's still tough to try getting out multiple videos per week. You've gotta be putting out around $1k/month for that kind of output too, which can be kind of prohibitive for some people. Outsourcing is one of the best things I've done to be able to create videos while still working on my other business full-time. That and really doing some deep journaling on who my target audience (customer avatar) is and what my core mission is for the channel.

Hi CM, I started almost 3 years ago with mine channel, unfortunaly mine channel didn't get monetization ( yet ) i have 20 000 watch hours and over1k subs.. and no copyrightclaims. Reason is,reuses content. Is it still ok to use video"s from pixabay? and it says can't promote content from other channels since 2022 rules? Mabey you can make video's about what can and can not for monetization? I try to fix my channel now, but not sure what to remove and changes to make.

Unfortunately, KZbin will still sometimes show ads around your content, they’ll just get to keep all the money. So, no, it won’t impact how often KZbin shows your videos. It’s still a money maker for them.

Rewatching to try figuring out what stage my channel is at...
@endlesssoupandsalad

So, its the end of the year. I look back and see how your numbers are doing and they have really fallen off. It seems like they started to fall off about 4 months ago. When Nate left.... I see that you both posted a video the same day on the same topic. His has 6 times the views as yours at the moment. Also, your channel has made a pivot to different very niche ways to do better on youtube like lighting or batching. Things that make it easier to make videos or video hacks rather than the specifics of youtube and reviews of videos like before. Those are still there like this video but they are rare. This pivot has hurt the channel and I would hazard to say, because of the nature of youtube, you may not recover this channel to more than 20k views a video like before. It is sad to see, but I think it is clear that this channel is a shell of its former self.
@heymrcody
@heymrcody 7 ай бұрын
Look at it this way... when Nate quit... the audience left with him. Only the algorithm just sees that a lot of people are no longer watching. The algorithm doesn't know why, so it stops serving the videos. The people who used to watch first thing no longer do, so the reach drips off and the algorithm behaves accordingly. So in order to find a new audience to replace the ones they lost they had to pivot a little and expand their topics. You can't blame this channel's performance without also putting the blame on Nate for quitting. If they had time to transition over weeks and not days, you wouldn't have seen the drop in views. The good news is their new strategy is still growing subscribers, so the views will grow, just not as fast as you think they should have. If you have tips to share to help them...great, but if you're here to moan about missing Nate you're in the wrong place.
@ChannelMakers
@ChannelMakers 7 ай бұрын
We’ll see… Fortunately I’m not one to give up based on short term results. We understand the algorithm well enough to know what’s going on and if you stick around you’ll see that our work is going to pay off and this channel will be bigger than ever. In the meantime, our former audience can enjoy their sugar fluff elsewhere. We serve meat on Channel Makers.

To make it honest, should you not say that the successful channels you have started have not been completely on your own: "Income School" and "Backfire" were with Jim, and I'm under the impression that at least the first one was based on his ideas, and his blogging success with a photo site(?). The third channel (this one) was completely run by Nate in front of the camera (at ; least it reached its major success once he came into the picture); or am I wrong here?
@heymrcody
@heymrcody 7 ай бұрын
yes you have it wrong. Nate did not run the channel. There were multiple people making it work and Ricky was the one leading it behind the scenes. Listen to the person who can run a successful team. They know what they're talking about.

Jim and I started both of those channels from scratch. No big team behind us. No big audience to market them to. Channel Makers got a large initial bump because we did promote it to our existing audience. Nate also had the benefit of a co-host for several months, a team behind him editing almost all of his videos, planning most of the videos, and helping him with ideas, analysis, and research, and Jim and I mentoring him which we did a LOT. I'm not sure what point you're trying to make here, but odds are you only have the viewer perspective which is missing a lot of the actual facts.

First of all, the video has the content that the title promises. So there's no issue with the title or thumbnail. Second, if you title a video "Here's a commercial for my product" NOBODY WILL WATCH IT! Why would anybody do that? Did you know that many of the biggest KZbinrs have products that they shamelessly promote in their videos and that the purpose of their videos is to sell those products. That's how we make money.
