I'm sorry but as an Italian I have to say that those people who think that Italian cuisine is made only of pasta and pizza, simply means that they do not know the Italian cuisine ! PS: and I say more.... even we Italians do not know all the Italian cuisine ! Also because there is NOT a single Italian cuisine, but there are so many Italian regional cuisines. Traveling around Italy from north to south, including the islands, we discover new things every time !

Fantastico. I love your style on camera, so relatable. I have lived in a small village in southern Italy for three years, but on the opposite coast, the Tyrrhenian Sea. It is magical! The people have welcomed me, helping me to learn Italiano, correcting my pronunciation, which I welcome. You are so entertaining. My refrigerator is similar to yours, molto formaggio, olives, fresh organic vegetables grown by my friends on their land. The cost of living is so affordable! The adventures so numerous. I look forward to seeing more of your channel. Take care, stay safe and heathy. Ciao, ciao.

The "peperoncino" comes from a region called Calabria. It is right next to Basilicata (so quite close to Puglia as well) and Calabria is known in Italy for being the region of peperoncino and spicy stuff. I come from Calabria and I suggest you to try a thing called 'nduja, which is typical. It's known all over Italy and you can put it on pizza or just spread it on a slice of bread. Of course there are countless things in Calabria, just like the other regions. 😉

Italy,as are Greece and France where I used to live, is blessed with farmer market's which, to me, is like pure heaven. Now I live in a Mediterranean county (Island) which is unfortunately very westernized, meaning that small grocery shops and markets are out of business and replaced by huge supermarkets packed with processed food, fruit and vegetables which is stored days and days in fridges because everything needs to be shipped from other countries. I enjoy these kind of videos immensely. Pure Bliss.

Love, love, love this video! Keep them coming 😍 Couple questions: 1) where is the video where you talked about the egg guy? 2) why are your eggs in the fridge? 3) maple syrup, how long can you keep it for? I’ve normally thrown so much because it’s passed the date on the tin. 4) may you do a video about prices of food in Puglia v London (v NYC) please? Even comparing the supermarkets Waitrose and Tesco to Conad and Despar.
@TheQKatie

1) Hiya! it's at the end of this one. 2) Ugh I know, I know. I never figured out how to fully commit to the UK/Euro style or stick with the american. If you look closely, some of the eggs are actually outside, next to the fridge, but the other ones are in it. I'm all over the place. 3) No clue! It usually lasts a while, but with the amount of sourdough pancakes I make with my leftover discard, we use the stuff pretty quickly 4) Great Idea! adding it to the list.... Thanks for always watching!

No, I ordered them from www.caffesicilia.it. I was testing them out as potential gift baskets for people who helped with my book (no surprise: they passed the test!). I wish they were available in stores here! I've since taken the batteries out, it just felt weird... Thanks for the kind words and thanks for watching! Lots more Italian adventures to come!

@qkatie I love Caffè Sicilia products. Instead of ordering them online, you need to visit their shoppe in the enchanting town of Noto and enjoy their world famous granita di mandorle. Better yet, why not do a food tour of Sicily?! It is a cuisine and world unto itself, hence why we call it the PICCOLO CONTINENTE or the little continent. If I still lived there, I would welcome you as my guest. Starting in eastern Sicily near Bronte, you can find the unique and aromatic pasta con pesto di pistacchio (pasta with creamy yet textured pistachio sauce or as we say in Sicilian like the Arabs fastuca for pistachio). Moving on to Siracusa, you will find the famous coniglio stimpiratu (rabbit stew) which was a staple for people in the country side. Closer to the city, you can find the sarausani eating ghiotta di babbuci or babbaluci (a sort of thick tomato snail soup). If you enjoy carb-filled street food as much as I do, then there's cudduruni (flatbread pizza), pizzolu or pizzolo (this is a true pizza "pie" with crust on top), scaccia or scacciata (stuffed breads), mpanata (Sicilian empanada), and mpanatigghi (Sicilian empanadillas: chocolate / meat dumplings). For the sweet tooth, it is a must to try cioccolato di Modica or ciucculatti murucanu (ancient Sicilian chocolate from the Spanish age). The history of this treat is as interesting as the taste! As they say ad Aula where they make the wonderful Avola wine, and beyond across Sicily, "veni a tastàri" or come and taste!

Oh, dear no international cuisine in Italy? I was in Mercato delle Erbe, the fresh food market of Bologna Emelia Romana, the alleged home of Italian food. What I found was a small stall stuffed full of Hinze Tomato Ketchup!

Zeppole, yup, ought to be FRIED: this is the way; ricotta forte (locally called ricotta "squanna"), I agree, that's like marmite: either you love it, or you hate it (I personally hate it...); sriracha! yummy! yes, smuggling from abroad is the only option...

Great video, love the cheese selection. Question: do you like the taste of buffalo mozzarella compared to cow mozzarella? Is there much difference? Keep up the good work.
@TheQKatie
@TheQKatie 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! That's a great question. I've had both and enjoyed it every time. The mozzarella I mostly eat here is cow. I'll have to keep taste testing to get a better sense. It's a tough job, but I guess I'm up for it ;)
@Gabneo1
@Gabneo1 3 жыл бұрын
the buffalo must live on pasture (unlike cows that can be kept in a closed plant), the calf is often kept with the mother, who is induced to produce more milk if she is with him, and produces much less milk than a cow, in general, which is why buffalo mozzarella is more expensive than cow mozzarella. Buffalo ( not to be confused with the american buffalo) milk has a better composition from a purely dairy point of view. The taste of buffalo mozzarella is much more decisive than that of cow. p.s. buffaloes are mostly raised in Campania and central and southern Italy, in milder climates, otherwise in the cold they would not produce milk.

To be short, the main difference is that buffalo mozzarella is saltier, it does not need any kind of dressing 😉

Thanks for sharing Italy food life. . .found out have ancient ancestry from Venice, Florence and maybe some shared life to Magyars who settled in Piedmont and Abruzzo. Neat to find appliance but take grain of salt as imo older plastic may have bpa or chemicals that come out after it has aged. The ecstasy of southern Italian produce . . .don't let it drag you off your feet like a wish dragon that comes with costs.
