I'm in year 10 planning on doing the IB and getting a good ATAR. Apparently my school has some crazy high standards for IB even amongst IB schools, the avg ATAR for IB students was over 95 consistently. I'm excited but also terrified lmfao. Also we take fairly similar classes which is cool. I do physics instead of chem and I'm gonna do ab initio Spanish. Also I don't do spec maths I just can't be bothered lmao methods is enough for me.

Hey, Emil, Appreciate all the valuable advice! If possible, could you please refer me to some of the chrome extensions/applications you used to restrict your usage of things like games, KZbin or Netflix? I'm currently in year 10 and am finding it difficult to stay focused throughout my studies due to easily accessible online distractions. Thanks again for the helpful vid 👍

Hey Emil, what should I do in this situation: I'm not that popular and I only have a few friends in my grade, I'm a B student about to do my prelims and my other friends are D-C students. This kind of means that I have to make the journey by myself for my progression, what can I do to progress efficiently?

Thank you so much for this video! I'm currently in year 12 doing math ext 1, chemistry, bio, English advanced and SOR 1 but I've fallen behind in a lot of my subjects and haven't done as well as I know I can due to procrastination. How should I go about catching up on all the year 12 content thus far? :)

is it also too late to get an atar above 95? I still have 5 units of internal task 2's, internal task 3's, trials and the actual HSC, but I'm worried I won't be able to get up to date in time and need to create a plan but don't know where to start
@EmilEddy
@EmilEddy 2 жыл бұрын
Hi! I’d say that it’s more important for you to stay up to date with the work that you are currently doing, rather than trying to catch up on work you’ve missed. If you focus on the stuff you haven’t done, the task will seem bigger and bigger as you fall behind on the work you’re doing currently as well, so I really recommend leaving the stuff you haven’t learnt for later and just paying attention in class currently
@EmilEddy
@EmilEddy 2 жыл бұрын
It’s almost always possible to get an ATAR over 95, since your final HSC exams matter quite a bit. I’m not fully familiar with the system, but I’d definitely say it’s possible with some hard work

Great video! Very well made and edited. I was wondering if you had any tips on the duration of a study session. Do you personally just do 1 hour straight or split it into two sessions of 30 minutes?
@EmilEddy
@EmilEddy 2 жыл бұрын
I usually think it's better to work in shorter intervals with more breaks. If i'm studying for an hour I'll do 25 minutes work, 5 mintes break, 25 minutes work, 5 minutes break

hey emil, what browser extensions did you use for this? I get distracted a lot
@EmilEddy
@EmilEddy 2 жыл бұрын
There are a few levels to this: 1. Use incognito mode so you don't see suggested links/you aren't logged in to websites. 2. Use the forest browser extension to give yourself an extra cue to study 3. Study in public places so you don't get distracted as often. 4. Blocksite is a pretty good browser extension to block websites. 5. Block website domains from your internet modem.

About the growth mindset I remember this homework I was told to do and it read about that and how it compares it to another mindset and it shows how to other mindset led to cheating, anger temper, stressed, and worse grades, but how the growth mindset was shown to be learning, improving grades, happy emotions, and not as bad as the other and in 6th grade that was my mistake I cared so much about my straight A's but I didn't care about learning it I would read understand it, do my test on it, and forget it now that am going to 7th grade I want to have a growth mindset and don't want to have the same experience but I have a question for you that you didn't answer in the video I hope you don't mind reading it and I hope you respond, if I listen to music and study will it make me less focus are focus will it help me, or distract me instead?

Thanks for a great video! Could you please answer these questions if you get the chance? Did that 1 hour include both UCAT and Year 12?Because I feel that might be too short for me to get all my work done for both. Also, how much do you wait after eating to study? Because whenever I try to study after eating, I find it difficult to concentrate.
@EmilEddy
@EmilEddy 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! 1 hour didn’t include UCAT, just schoolwork. I usually don’t have a problem with working after eating, so maybe have a look into your diet or what you’re eating that’s making you so lethargic
