Congrats my guy! It's good to see you showing that if one maintains and operates their HEMI powered vehicle properly, it can last as long as a Toyota. I have a 5.7 HEMI with over 200K miles. It's still running smooth. I fix stuff before it starts to be problem and keep ALL the fluids clean. Looking forward to 500K miles to prove Toyota's aren't the only game in town.

I have a '97 Ram 1500 with a 5.9 360 V8 auto with 303,500 so far and still going strong with the original engine and trans. I've owned it for a little over 11 years now and I've put 111,000 miles on it myself so far. Yes keeping up with the maintenance is key to keeping you vehicle going for as long as you can make it go. Takes a lot of work and money to keep them going strong for years to come. If you don't take care of them, then they will not last.

Spot on man.. I do the same thing with my vehicles. Years ago I had a bad wheel hub and I felt it the day the bearing was bad. Took it in cause I didn’t have a bearing press, and the guy was like “damn dude, how did you know what it was?” I said, look man I know my car and could feel it not coasting as good today. Saved a lot of money catching early.

I always wait until the idle settles. When you first start it up it runs about 1100 rpm . I wait until it goes under a 900 rpm. Which can take up to 1 min to come down. That start and just go is crazy

never let it idle. change your oil every 3,000 mi with high quality XL boosted amsoil I repeat, never let it idle. I don't care if you're cold. I don't care if you're hot. they put the camshaft too high on these engines and then they put a little bar in the way that blocks the crankshaft from the splash lubricating the lifters. it's a design flaw. I don't know if it was on accident or on purpose but some can last a long time but most of them end up eating camshafts within 125,000 mi
