For all the people wondering why she felt the need to hide it from her family. For alot of mothers (including myself) it is much easier to tell your family about a miscarriage or ectopic pregnancy after the fact. When I had my ectopic I did not tell my family I was pregnant until I had confirmation that it was not viable because I didn't want to get everyones hopes up. I had to wait a year before being allowed to try again and struggled with infertility. When we did finally manage to get pregnant again, I was not comfortable telling the family and getting their hopes up until I was 5 months along.
@nadiadansani21393 жыл бұрын
I understand not telling, but I just was confused at the extents/methods used to hide it
@venusvontrappe60073 жыл бұрын
@@nadiadansani2139 that is fair, and I can't speak for her. But I have noticed in my own experiences as a women that it doesn't matter what the affliction is, people are going to start speculating about pregnancy. I have argued with doctors in an emergency room about health concerns and even though they are holding my file that says I had a hysterectomy, they will still ask me if I am positive that I can't be pregnant. When you run into family and they start bugging you asking when you are going to have another baby which is no-ones business. Maybe they just want one child, maybe they are struggling with infertility. Maybe they are applying for adoption. And just because you want to wait until after the first trimester doesn't mean you don't want to partake in the excitement of a pregnancy announcement, whether it be by showing someone an ultrasound or cute photo announcement. Personally I worked with my immediate family and I did many things to hide my pregnancy until I was ready to announce it my way, on my terms. It really takes the wind out of your sails when you go to tell someone and they say "Oh you're pregnant" before you get the opportunity. Or someone runs around telling all of your friends because they want to be the first one with the gossip.
@lavane263 жыл бұрын
but see, that's the thing, why do women feel like they need to safeguard other people's feelings, instead of being able to share their joys or sadness with everyone we love? why do we feel like we would be burdening others with our sadness rather than turning to them for support? it just perpetuates that idea that a women's pregnancy or infertility is "her cross to bear", like if a pregnancy is going well, then everyone gets to be a part of it, but if it's not going well or it there is a miscarriage, then it's only the woman's deal, and that's hard... people, not just pregnant women or women dealing with infertility, need to learn to talk about this more, or at least just listen.
@venusvontrappe60073 жыл бұрын
@@lavane26 see and I'm not saying that if you lose a baby you have to keep it to yourself. When I lost my baby I shared that grief with the circle I chose. I am lucky, I had alot of support. I also wasn't the only one dealing with the loss. My husband struggled just as much as I did trying to conceive and losing our baby. He needed the support just as much as I did. But the minute you start sharing that special news that you are expecting, people start spreading it. So if you lose that baby it can be very traumatic everytime you have to explain to someone that you have lost it, because that person fell through the cracks or missed the memo. It is much easier to tell someone on your terms "Hey, I was pregnant but unfortunately miscarried." Then someone seeing you at work and being like "So have you picked out any names?" and then you have to have a terribly awkward and upsetting encounter for both parties. I am also not saying a women or couple HAS to wait until after the first trimester to share their news. I am simply defending their right to share their pregnancy when they feel it is the right time for them to share it.

I had awful morning sickness, like so bad I wouldn’t make it to the bathroom most of the time because it was so sudden. So we mostly just kept our room door shut. I also got in a bad accident and was unable to walk for a month, that was a good excuse. After I was able to start walking again, she got kind of suspicious. I am not a lazy person by any means, but because I was so sick, I slept all the time. She thought I was just being lazy and starting getting upset. When we finally were about to tell her. All we had to say was we have something to tell you and she was like “You’re pregnant.” She knew something must be going on because I am such an active person normally.

What I don't understand: why hide? You're not a minor, you have a job, you're with a guy. Why deprive the soon to be grandma the joys and happiness of hearing a good news that she'll be a nana soon? I find the possibility of miscarriage during the first trimester to be too shallow a reason to not tell the person you're living with. Am sure they will adjust even the alcohol consumption because they know the situation and they are not shallow. Oh, I know. Buzzfeed needed a content. The possible only reason why. Because they are that shallow.

It's actually not weird in asia to live with your parents even after you were married, kekeke.. some parents don't mind it.. especially those with lesser amount of children

I know a few women who have lost babies to miscarriages, so when they got pregnant again they kept mum about the news until past the first trimester. I also get keeping it to yourself because it's a personal thing between two people and you before everyone else weighs in.

I don't understand why they had do hide it. I get not wanting to announce it right away, fine, but you're clearly a married adult, sooooooooooo....why the hiding
