Please note, there is absolutely no need to knit quickly! Finish projects (or don’t, believe me I have a giant pile of wips) at your own pace it’s not a competition :) But a lot of people ask me for tips on how I knit so quickly and since I have a lot of ideas I want to make, I’ve picked up a few tips and techniques.
Let me know if you have any tips yourself or any more questions!

I also found out that I knit super fast and find it more exciting when I use needles that are 7 millimeters or bigger. For smaller than that I prefer to crochet or do Tunisian crochet

I am definitely the one knitter that loves purling, even more thank knit stitch 😂 continental knitting has multiple styles for purl stitch and I found one that’s so easy the stitches just fly so fast! Also I found English style knitting so annoying and so much work that I almost stopped knitting right after I tried it but then I turned it continental immediately which is the default in Germany and it felt so much nicer to the hands and so much faster and in flow… wool shops here in Berlin always recommend start with continental and start with circular needles from the beginning and it really works 😊

Oooo you love purling lmao so strange! Haha I sort of wish I had learned continental first but I think it makes sense to teach 8 year olds how to do English first since there’s no way I could’ve handled continental that young

Kara, I would love for you to do a video on how you make your patterns. I am a knitter but I've been thinking about making patterns and just wanted to know how you are able to do it.

Thank you! I’ll give it a try. I’m knitting a bunch of hearts for Valentine’s Day. I think that very familiar pattern will be a great starting pattern.

I accidentally learned continental and never learned English style. I watched the English videos. And I never realized they were holding the yarn in their right hand. It just felt more comfortable to hold it in my left hand. It took a few months to realize I was doing it different 😅

Ooo I’ve heard of a few people doing this! It does seem like a slightly more intuitive motion but trickier to pick up

Same. I think it's also super common for people who crochet to just learn continental as you hold the yarn pretty much the same.

Not sure if you've tried continental purling by using your thumb? You don't move your hand/wrist as much. I move the yarn in front of the left needle and use thumb to push down yarn to wrap needle is faster/easier than moving entire hand to wrap. Metal needles is also +5 to speed lol... as a lace/fingering-dk weight knitter.

Oooo do you find the metal needles more slippery?
@bathulhu

@@karaskniteng yeah, wood/bamboo needles tend to grip the yarn more so doesn't slide as quickly. I was bored once and timed knitting on my different needles to see what I preferred and which were faster.
