I don’t know if you read this I was trying to find a jeans that fit straight slim with high rise, I did all experiments like buying LVCs and slim them with alterations… somehow unh!!! Finally I found something it’s called Orslow 107 Ivey Fit, trust me, I am a older guy and spent many years looking for the right pair. High rise, slim straight, paper patch (now days difficult to find as all do thick leather patch that I hate) 13.5 oz just like real vintage oldies, little slubby with real indigo that will fade to bright blue, just loving it!!

I wish I knew this earlier, it really is a underrated science that I tried to figure out myself. It took me years to finally realize the perfect fit for my pants. I just figured it out this year. It takes a LOT more trial and error than you expect because in your mind, your pants may feel and look good, but in reality, it probably doesn't seem as good as you think. At least that's in my case because tighter pants felt nice, but it made me look like a carrot. Great vid. 👍 cuffs are only for the pros and always size for the thighs.

I'd never thought about going for straighter jeans rather than tapered jeans to alleviate the burden of having cyclist legs. The issue I'm afraid of is that any jean wide enough to fit my quads will end up looking like JNCOs on my ankles. I guess I need to get them hemmed above my ankles like you mentioned, lots of good info!
@rangerscoach5 ай бұрын
you can get a lot japanese denim that have roomer thighs and a taper that isnt too aggressive from the knee. the 888 comes to mind and for me the boncoura cuts can work with that build.

i feel ya brother. i dont lift much anymore but i still got decent, not huge legs, and for example, a pair of N+F Easy Guys (their roomiest fit) that fits my waist is still nearly shrink wrapped to my thighs unless i size up in the waist. and this is across every brand ive tried. its either a hip/thigh vice or clown bell bottoms.

Carrot legs here. I always thought I looked like an idiot when I saw myself in the mirror. The tapered fit made my feet / shoes look huge as well. Total unbalance. Once I switched to regular fit (501 1947 is my favourite), I'm never ever going back to that shitty fit. Straight fit forever!

I didn't understand you're point. Tapered jeans are meant to be like that, since the 80's people asked for smaller leg openings, it's better if you wear sneakers, it was cooler and nobody said "you look like a carrot". People modified they're 501 to have a smaller leg opening, then skinny or super slim jeans arrived but they're uncomfortable and not cool anymore, so tapered jeans is always the best solution. You can always use straight jeans if you're wearing boots or bigger shoes, they never go out of fashion. You said "if your calves are smaller than your thighs buy a straight jeans" but the athletic fit for example is the opposite, there's more space on the thighs and a small leg opening. Why selling that if it looks bad?
@nottsforest693 жыл бұрын

I respect that you've created your own branding for the term "proportion." For instance, you can cheat a leg opening that's a bit large with a longer, narrow looking shoe like a Chuck Taylor to make the jeans appear slimmer. But unless you love spending more money to have things tailored, your system for jeans purchasing is pretty effective. Though I have noticed that some jeans are starting to be cut like joggers with wiiiiide thighs and skinny legs, making the person look like a wine glass. Not a fan.

I second the issues raised with sizing down on the 501s. I've basically worn through the crotch area and had to sew a patch on the inside so white boxers won't show up against the black. The fit I'm after is a relaxed taper at the thighs which stops at the knee, then turns to a straight leg the rest of the way down. What is it about this fit that denim brands cannot understand? My plan for my next pair is to try the Arket cropped jeans and see if there's enough excess material for a tailor to reduce the taper.

Enjoyed the vid. I think all of that applies well and good, unless you're overweight. Overweight men wearing slim cut pants just looks wrong, regardless of their leg shape. Can anyone recommend some nicer jeans with a similar fit?

After many years of varying between very cheap jeans and Levis on sale I've setled on Tesco straight fit for now. I've embraced the bunching (as I'm a 29 inch leg in trousers) and think a one inch pinch of fabric at thigh level and the fullest part of calf is about right for me. I think ideally if you're going to buy a pair of levis you should go to a Levis store as maybe they will know what is the right fit for you as I find the antifit thing confusing. I really find my tesco jeans as comfortable as any Levis i've had and they have a nice wash and decent fit so my advice is go cheap straight fit and if they are abit too wide take them to an alterations tailor and get the fit you want. The other thing is the Levis anti fit thing ? what's that all about.
