Skin color. Probably, that is. I mean I don't think any of us have access to that information so I guess you're just guessing. But you know what? You're right. That’s the best way. If he rates it average, it could be brilliant. If he rates it good, it’s probably weird and not that great. Always check his reviews to go with the opposite.

Not sure if you've ever taken a look at Afircan Hip Hop, more specifically South African BUT I reckon you should definitely give this years 2 biggest South African Hip Hop projects a listen. 1. Today's Tragedy, Tomorrow's Memory by A-Reece 2.B4Now by Blxckie Please do consider!!

Never understood how people could listen to an album once and determine if it's good or not. Music is so much more than that. Certain albums could take even 10 listens to really understand and enjoy and that's why music is beautiful
@pazuzu66.65 жыл бұрын
That’s definitely true. I listened to Loveless by MBV 12 times just to understand it, and now I love it. Even Atrocity Exhibition was pretty rough at the start but now I just see it as a genius piece of Hip Hop.

@@pazuzu66.6To help answer your question, as a different person: the comment was recommended to me by the algorithm. I have listened to loveless once and didn't like it except for the most popular song. I am a bit interested but probably not enough to like it.

i always thought you had a room that was just filled with records and a chair and when you’d listen to an album you’d sit back in that chair and close your eyes and let the album transport u to another dimension either with a great room ambience or with some sick headphones

One time I listened to an album called *Deathconsciousness* and it became my favorite album but Melon Boy never reviewed it which made me sad. He reviewed *Giles Corey* and *The Unnatural World* to make up for it, though. We're still friends he let me come over and play Xbox earlier, it was so freaking epic! His mom made us hot pockets, but they were vegan so they weren't that great.

For my process personally, I try to go through one listen completely unbias and blind, without taking any notes/scripting anything. Usually it's just me listening straight up to the record with no skewed vision or trying to look at it "professionally." Afterwards, I'll go back through and cherry pick bits and pieces of interest and overall points so I don't ramble on each song for years, and make some loose draft notes on a google document to refer to. I try to avoid anything that might skew my opinion of it going into it: Other reviews, online stuff, comments, etc. I also try my best to look at it as a current album and not compare it to others in the discography of that band/artist. I'm constantly trying to find new music, and I'm working sometimes 6-7-8 hours a day on what I'm doing, sometimes to the detriment of my health. I pull quite a few all nighters working, researching, listening, writing, etc. That's just how I am. Trying to take it very seriously. :) Wrote that before watching the video, so if it's alike I apologize. Cheers all. :)

I’ve been on a journey since last year to listen to more full albums. I’ve been listening mostly to selected albums from the 1970s to the 2000s. I grew up on a lot of music from the 1990s, but I mainly heard the singles. I love listening to full albums because I feel like I get the full message/experience that the artist wants to share. It’s been mind blowing to hear so many GREAT deep cuts that I don’t remember hearing growing up. I’ve listened to about 65 and counting albums since last year. It has really encouraged me as a creative to just creative. The only downside is that I do wonder if I miss something listening to an old album (let’s say “Toni Braxton” by Toni Braxton…1993) 30 years later vs when it first came out. Times were obviously different, so I just wonder if I miss something by listening to the album years later vs when it came out.

You should do a video of you finding out an album came out, then listening to it, cutting out the actual music or speeding through it to avoid copyright as you do in your Track reviews, and then give initial thoughts and then transition into the actual album review. Just for one album, just to see if your audience would like it, I would really be interested in such a video.

Listening to music is much harder then we might think. Theres also much more ways to do it, all arguably good. Casual listening,or "surface" as he called, is something I've been thinking a lot. We know for sure that listening to anything multiple times will make our brain enjoy everything much more then we would on first times. Will listening to something a couple or more times while doing casual stuff change in a more favorable way our toughts towards that music? I've been listening to albums over and over again while doing casual stuff,and honestly I kinda like everything like that. However its impossible that each song on an album is great (unless I'm a god on picking what to listen). To end this,I think is best to listen to new music while doing nothing else for the first couple of times to have an objective state of mind, before moving to a more casual set up. (Also to review professionaly some major knowledge of music theory is a must. I cant listen to people praising the same old few chords, in the same progression, with the same beat, with nothing else to add to every similar song released before)

This is why we love you, Melon. Even if we don't agree, you always explain your opinions so well. Like in this video, it makes perfect sense to only listen to 60% of a black artist's album since you're such a staunch defender of the Three-Fifths Compromise.
